Jesus Is The ONE, Who Was Born Without Sin To Allow Him To Die That We May Live Forever With Him!
John 3:17 (NIV)
For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.
This commentary seems best to just try to report what God has told us about the birth of the Son of God into this cursed world as a human baby. This birth is no different than your own birth, in that it is an act of God. I believe every human birth brings into this world an imperfect individual who is made in the image and likeness of God! The life essence of each of us is contained in our immortal soul, which will never die! If you come to believe in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, your soul will go to join Jesus Christ where He has prepared a room for you.
Our human body lives because of our soul, and when you die your soul leaves this earthly body behind to return to dust and remain on this earth. From the beginning of time on this earth humans come to life when their soul brings life to the body it is contained in. In the book of Genesis, we read about the creation accounts that God gave us, and we learn the accounts about the creation of mankind. We read about this life force God/Jesus inserted into Adam to start the life cycle for all future members of mankind. The LORD God formed the man from the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living being. (Genesis 2:7).
Now since we have the basic idea about how this ability that Jesus started with the creation of Adam, and the ability to pass it on to all future offspring of the mankind. Men also pass on the sinful nature to their offspring, because of that first or original sin Adam and Eve committed. Therefore, Jesus could not have a human father, else He would also inherit a sinful nature. Then Jesus would have been a sinner from the start and could not fulfill the requirement of becoming the needed perfect sacrifice God required for the Savior of the world!
Now for a few selected verses given to us by God the Father describing the only virgin birth, by a member of humanity whom God selected and who we refer to as Mary the Mother of God! Now about the selection of Mary. In the sixth month of Elizabeth’s pregnancy, God sent the angel Gabriel to Nazareth, a town in Galilee, to a virgin pledged to be married to a man named Joseph, a descendant of David. The virgin’s name was Mary. The angel went to her and said, “Greetings, you who are highly favored! The Lord is with you.” (Luke 1:26-28).
When this angel sent by God appeared to Mary she was startled and showed fear. But the angel said to her, “Do not be afraid, Mary; you have found favor with God. You will conceive and give birth to a son, and you are to call him Jesus. He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High. The Lord God will give him the throne of his father David, and he will reign over Jacob’s descendants forever; his kingdom will never end.” (Luke 1:30-33).
Mary asked the obvious question related to how she would become pregnant since she was a virgin. "How will this be," Mary asked the angel, "since I am a virgin?" The angel answered, "The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. So the holy one to be born will be called the Son of God. (Luke 1:34-35). Amazingly Mary accepted this great honor God was bestowing on her as she said, "I am the Lord’s servant," Mary answered. "May it be to me as you have said." Then the angel left her. (Luke 1:38).
However, as previously noted Mary was already betrothed to a man named Joseph! When Joseph realized Mary was pregnant and it was obvious this was not his child, he decided to quietly divorce her and break off the plans for marrying her. Then in a dream God sent an angel to explain to Joseph this miraculous God planned virgin birth. Here is the recorded account, But after he had considered this, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream and said, “Joseph son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary home as your wife, because what is conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit. She will give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus, because he will save his people from their sins.” (Matthew 1:20-21).
Here is one Old Testament prophy about a Messiah coming into this world to offer salvation to the Jewish people. For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counsellor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Of the increase of his government and peace there will be no end. He will reign on David’s throne and over his kingdom, establishing and upholding it with justice and righteousness from that time on and for ever. The zeal of the LORD Almighty will accomplish this. (Isaiah 9:6-7).
It is likely that most people reading this today are not of Jewish heritage and this Massiah is being promised to the Jewish people. But there was never a limited offering of a Savior for only the Jewish people. God tells Isaiah that this Messiah is coming for all people, as we all do go back to our original ancestors named Adam and Eve. And now the LORD says—he who formed me in the womb to be his servant to bring Jacob back to him and gather Israel to himself, for I am honored in the eyes of the LORD and my God has been my strength—he says: "It is too small a thing for you to be my servant to restore the tribes of Jacob and bring back those of Israel I have kept. I will also make you a light for the Gentiles, that you may bring my salvation to the ends of the earth." (Isaiah 49:5-6).
Let us close this commentary with a quote from Jesus about how His followers are to strive to become in agreement about who it is that they have chosen to follow. Jesus said, I have other sheep that are not of this sheep pen. I must bring them also. They too will listen to my voice, and there shall be one flock and one shepherd. (John 10:16). I believe Jesus is referring to the Jews being in the pen, and Gentiles not being in pen, and He is saying His salvation is offered to both.
As the selected verse says, “For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.” The plan of the one God was to send His one Son into this world, “to save the world through him.” Paul wrote about this oneness likening it to one body, which has many parts, but they are all connected through belief in the ONE! The body is a unit, though it is made up of many parts; and though all its parts are many, they form one body. So it is with Christ. For we were all baptized by one Spirit into one body—whether Jews or Greeks, slave or free—and we were all given the one Spirit to drink. (1 Corinthians 12:12-13).
It is the CHRISTmas season His church has many churches but as Jesus is the ONE, who was born without sin to allow Him to die that we may live forever with Him! Have you been born again?
Wishing you and your loved ones,
Merry Christmas
