If You Believe Jesus Is The Answer, Try To Tell Someone, It May Save Their Immortal Life!
Matthew 6:19-21 (NIV)
"Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moth and rust do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.”
In the selected verses Jesus says, “But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven.” It seems to me He should have said, “But (first) store up for yourselves treasures in heaven.” In this country we are taught to first work on getting rich, or at least to build a nest egg of wealth to ensure you can retire and live off the money you have saved. It is important to form an order of importance for what you believe is the most important thing in your life. If you fail at either of these tasks in this temporary lifetime, it would be best if you fail at the least important one! Treasures in heaven will profit you forever, but your earthly treasures will only offer temporary pleasure, and leave you money behind when you die, and may cause unrest for the loved ones you leave behind.
Jimmy Carter, who lived to be one hundred years old, is currently being honored by the elite of the USA, and by people around this world. He is being honored more for the good deeds he did to help people who needed help, than he is for becoming the President of the USA! It seems he has spent more time working to store up for himself treasures in heaven, than to work on making money. Actually, it seems he did well on both fronts, but today he is likely happy because of his heavenly treasures! Only God knows his heart, but Mr. Carter was likely escorted by Jesus Christ to the room He had prepared for him, when his immortal soul left this earth.
Jesus came to this earth as the Son of Man to offer salvation to all member of mankind who Paul wrote about in the letter to Titus. For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men. It teaches us to say "No" to ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright and godly lives in this present age, while we wait for the blessed hope—the glorious appearing of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ, who gave himself for us to redeem us from all wickedness and to purify for himself a people that are his very own, eager to do what is good. (Titus 2:11-12). If you profess to be a Christian, then as a follower of Jesus Christ we must be “eager to do what is good.”
If a person truly believes in the God of the Bible, then they should feel humbled by knowing that God created you to live in this cursed world, and He has a purpose for you to live here! He has shown you, O mortal, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God. (Micah 6:8). Micah wrote about how someone should act who believes that a Messiah is coming, but until He gets here all members of mankind are “To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.” Taking pride for anything you do in this lifetime, goes against placing your trust entirely on God for the blessing you receive every day.
We need to believe that God loves us and has good things planned for us, which is why He sent His Son into this world to establish an organized group of followers who formed a church, we are all part of the Body of Christ. Follow God’s example, therefore, as dearly loved children and walk in the way of love, just as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us as a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God. (Ephesians 5:1-2). God calls all people to become members by believing Jesus Christ is who He says He is. But just as he who called you is holy, so be holy in all you do; for it is written: “Be holy, because I am holy.” (1 Peter 1:15-16). Followers of Jesus Christ are called Christians because we attempt to become more Christ-like every day for the rest of our lives.
God/Jesus created mankind to live on this earth, and to live with Him from the day of creation and forever. However, that first man Adam committed that first or original sin, by not trusting God’s orders as being in his best interest, thus driving God away as He cannot live with sinners. The writer of Acts wrote about the result of that entry of evil into this world. From one man he made every nation of men, that they should inhabit the whole earth; and he determined the times set for them and the exact places where they should live. God did this so that men would seek him and perhaps reach out for him and find him, though he is not far from each one of us. ‘For in him we live and move and have our being.’ As some of your own poets have said, ‘We are his offspring.’ (Acts 17:26-28).
God created mankind with the ability to reproduce offspring, which passes on the image and likeness of God, which was implanted into the immortal souls of mankind from the beginning of creation. The children of Adam and Eve passed on this ability given to mankind by God. It is therefore true that all of mankind all relatives, as in Acts it says about us, “We are his offspring.” All of mankind is one big family! We are now all waiting for Jesus Christ to return to this earth as a religious demagogue who will rule for a thousand years.
Then a new earth will be created to serve as heaven, and this current earth will be destroyed. All those who have believed in the God of the Bible will be re-born into this new world and will again live with the Triune God in this new heaven. Therefore, with minds that are alert and fully sober, set your hope on the grace to be brought to you when Jesus Christ is revealed at his coming. (1 Peter 1:13).
Hopefully, this is good news for us to share with anyone who will listen and believe in this new year. We have been commissioned to do so by Jesus Christ! Then the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain where Jesus had told them to go. When they saw him, they worshipped him; but some doubted. Then Jesus came to them and said, "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age." (Mathew 28:16-20). If you believe Jesus is the Answer, try to tell someone, it may save their immortal life!
