Always Be Prepared To Give An Answer To Everyone Who Asks You To Give The Reason For The Hope That You Have.
1 John 5:13-14 (NIV)
I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God so that you may know that you have eternal life. This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us.
Do you believe that you have an immortal soul? You must believe this if you expect to live for eternity with Jesus Christ! In this world in which you now live you will die! No one still living in this world will ever see you again while still living in this world! Before God will hear your prayers, you must believe that the Son of God has died for your sins and rose from the dead to offer you salvation through grace, because you do believe in Him! Then your immortal soul will end up in heaven living with your Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ!
Before Jesus came into this world only the people God chose to be His people were the Jews. A psalmist wrote about God’s blessing being bestowed only on their nation. Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord, the people he chose for his inheritance. (Psalm 33:12). The salvation plan was opened to all people living in this cursed world. While the blessing is reserved individually for each person who comes to believe that Jesus Christ is their Lord and Savior! It seems to me that God still blesses the nations that profess to believe that the Bible contains God’s Word! God did destroy or allow to be destroyed some nations, because they did not obey His commands! What do you think about this observation?
The USA just celebrated our governmental independence and the passing of two hundred and fifty years of our independence. As believers we must remember what Jesus said about our earth and His Word! Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away. (Matthew 24:35). Jesus also warned us about the future in this cursed world. For many will come in my name, claiming, ‘I am the Christ,’ and will deceive many. You will hear of wars and rumors of wars, but see to it that you are not alarmed. Such things must happen, but the end is still to come. Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be famines and earthquakes in various places. All these are the beginning of birth-pains. "Then you will be handed over to be persecuted and put to death, and you will be hated by all nations because of me. (Matthew 24:5-9).
Jesus tells parables about a shepherd who leaves ninety-nine sheep to find one lost one, and a woman who turns her house upside down to find a single lost coin. Both search. Both find. Both celebrate. Then Jesus tells The Parable of the Lost Son—and the father doesn't search at all. The son chose to return. The father had been watching for him. That's the distinction the parable makes: not that the father seeks, but that he never stops watching. And when you come back, he's already moving toward you. So he got up and went to his father. "But while he was still a long way off, his father saw him and was filled with compassion for him; he ran to his son, threw his arms around him and kissed him. (Luke 15:20).
Our Father God can be likened to this father in the parable, as God loves us, as He created us, and is always seeking people who need to be saved in this cursed world. Some people wonder why it seems God/Jesus is patient and willing to let some be lost because they will not or cannot come to believe in the Savior, He sent us! The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance. (2 Peter 3:9). Paul wrote about this salvation plan and how easy it is to understand. In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God’s grace that he lavished on us with all wisdom and understanding. (Ephesians 1:7-8).
If you are reading this today and you have been born again, then it applies to you. Paul here is praying for all believers. In all my prayers for all of you, I always pray with joy because of your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now, being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus. (Philippians 1:4-6). Paul continues to elaborate on the power of Christ Jesus to bring blessings on His followers. Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen. (Ephesians 3:20-21).
When Jesus walked this earth, He reminded anyone who would listen to love one another, and that this is the basic belief that could bring loving kindness to everyone even in this cursed world. Jesus replied: "‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments." (Matthew 22:37-40). We must obey all the commands God has given us, and these two set a great thought process that if followed would greatly increase a feeling of belonging to people in this cursed world.
If you have been born again then you know that your immortal soul is going to end up in heaven with Jesus, immediately when you die and leave this cursed world. With this wonderful belief then you have a great hope for your future, and you should share your joy of having Jesus in your life now and the knowledge of spending eternity with Him! Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect, keeping a clear conscience, so that those who speak maliciously against your good behavior in Christ may be ashamed of their slander. (1Peter 3:15b-16).
Can you share you great hope for eternity with someone who may not yet have believed and become born again? If you can you may plant a seed in them that will grow into a belief in Jesus Christ that will propel their immortal soul on to the narrow path that will lead them to heaven when they die in this temporary world. Amen!
