Friends Of Jesus, Love Each Other!
John 15:12-15, 17
My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you. Greater love has no-one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends. You are my friends if you do what I command. I no longer call you servants, because a servant does not know his master’s business. Instead, I have called you friends, for everything that I learned from my Father I have made known to you. This is my command: Love each other.
Jesus has given His followers a command, “My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you.” Then Jesus said to His followers, “You are my friends if you do what I command.” Therefore, if you are striving to be a friend of Jesus, then you must become more like Him and work on developing a love for all our brother and sisters in Christ. Jesus wanted to leave His followers with a deep desire to work on developing a love for each other, so He told them (us) again a message of love, as He said, “This is my command: Love each other.” Note Jesus is again giving a command to love each other. Friends of Jesus, love each other! Oh, what a friend we have in Jesus!
John is writing about how becoming born again is necessary for helping us to be able to gain some control over our sinful nature. We can become the children of God, if we believe Jesus is our Lord and Savior, then we can be even more then friends, we do become recognized as the children of God. He came to that which was his own, but his own did not receive him. Yet to all who received him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God—children born not of natural descent, nor of human decision or a husband’s will, but born of God. (John 1:11-13). Jesus has now become your friend and your brother in the family of God!
The writer of Proverbs warns us to avoid becoming too attached to the ways of this cursed world. "Two things I ask of you, O LORD; do not refuse me before I die: Keep falsehood and lies far from me; give me neither poverty nor riches, but give me only my daily bread. Otherwise, I may have too much and disown you and say, ‘Who is the LORD?’ Or I may become poor and steal, and so dishonor the name of my God. (Proverbs 30:7-9). Becoming rich in this world may cause us to lose our perspective and become a worldly person obsessed with accumulating wealth! On the other hand, if we become poor, we may lose our perspective and spend our time scheming on how to steal from other people in our worldly pursuit of survival. Either way we become worldly and spend all our time on worldly ventures, and thus our immortal soul ends up in hell.
Many people today have come to believe that this universe came into being on its own with no plan or purpose, this religion is known as evolution! If this story is true, then Jesus did not create this earth it came about on its own. John wrote about how Jesus created this earth! He was in the world, and though the world was made through him, the world did not recognize him. He came to that which was his own, but his own did not receive him. Yet to all who received him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God—children born not of natural descent, nor of human decision or a husband’s will, but born of God. (John 1:10-13).
It is ultimately important to believe that Jesus Christ created this earth as a special creation, as it started out as heaven, where mankind was to live forever. Then disobedience brought death and suffering into this world, and it became a temporary place for mankind to live and die on it! The writer of Hebrews reports how important it is for believers to meet on a regular basis to help us maintain and strengthen our faith. And let us consider how we may spur one another on towards love and good deeds. Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching. (Hebrews 10:24-25). It is important for all believers to choose a Bible believing church to attend regularly to help us support our belief system.
The writer of Hebrews reminds us that we need a strong faith, as we must believe that God exists before He will answer our prayers. And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him. (Hebrews 11:6). Our prayers must be offered to God, expecting that we may be rewarded by God for believing our prayers will be answered.
God gave all believers a book that supplies answers to questions that may arise in this cursed world. Many professing Christians do not read their Bible every day! Do you? Paul wrote letters to Timothy about how he needs to study his Bible, as it helps him understand God better. All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work. (2 Tomothy 3:16-17). Please believe what Paul writes about the Scriptures for Timothy and for us who are followers of Jesus Christ. Read some Scripture every day and believe that the Holy Spirit will help you understand what you have read!
Your Bible is the only book in this cursed world that contains absolute truth, as it is “God-breathed!” This means to me, that God has directed our Bible to be the Word of God, and with the guidance of the Holy Spirit it is the only book that was not written solely by some member of mankind. God inspires some books, but none can be depended on to be without some human error.

Jesus Will Lovingly Say To You, “Go To Your Room!” And Be Happy With Me Forever!
John 15:10 (NIV)
Jesus said, “If you keep my commands, you will remain in my love, just as I have kept my Father’s commands and remain in his love.”
Being a true follower of Jesus Christ requires you to study His Word so that you know what He has commanded, and then you must try to lead your life working on a premise of becoming more like Him every day! Someone has coined a phrase “Zombie Christian,” which may mean someone who claims to be a follower of Jesus, but they only want His shed blood to cover their sins, but they do not want to live their life by following Jesus’ commands. In this cursed world we all struggle with temptations to do sinful things that we are told Jesus also faced, yet He did not sin.
Salvation is an award not a reward for doing good deeds it is a free gift for believing that Jesus Christ is who He says He is! However, Jesus said, “If you keep my commands, you will remain in my love.” So, in this life true believers will desire to try to avoid sinful temptations by trying to follow Jesus’ commands! The question for all of us who claim to follow Jesus Christ is, are we willing to base our lives on trying to become more Christ-like by following His commands? Then we can be Happy in Jesus!
One such command Jesus gave His disciples was for them to be child-like in their belief, which means to be receptive to believing without seeing immediate results. Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.” (Matthew 19:14). It seems many non-believers remain unconvinced that Jesus Christ is the only way for them to follow, as there are many worldly religions available to choose from, and each religion offers some assurance that their religion is the only true one. Even atheism is a religion, as a religion is just what you believe to be true. Some people do not follow any known religion, thus that belief is their religion!
Paul wrote about there being only one Triune God and that God the Father exalted Jesus as the perfect sacrifice required to fulfill the salvation plan God offered to mankind. Therefore God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. (Philippians 2:9-11). One God, one salvation plan! Only one plan makes it more believable to me! Do multiple plans from multiple gods make any sense? Multiple plans of salvation also do not make any real sense to me. What do you believe? This is the most important question you will ever be asked in your life!
Paul wrote a letter to Timothy to help him in his ministry to understand God’s long-range plans for mankind. I urge, then, first of all, that requests, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for everyone—for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. This is good, and pleases God our Savior, who wants all men to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth. (1 Timothy 2:1-4). Imagine how disappointed God is when people die, and their immortal soul descends into hell forever.
Paul wrote about our Bible which is the most important gift from God for allowing mankind to use so we can study it and learn God’s plan for us. For I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes: first to the Jew, then to the Gentile. (Romans 1:16). God gave us this one guidebook that if studied and believed will cause our immortal soul to be directed to heaven when we die in this cursed world. As Jesus told His disciples that they must believe in Him to obtain their salvation. Jesus asked them, “But what about you?” he asked. “Who do you say I am?” Simon Peter answered, “You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God.” (Matthew 16:15-16). Simon Peter had the correct answer! Do you also believe the correct answer to Jesus’ question? The answer to this question determines if your immortal soul ends up in heaven or hell!
Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see. By faith we understand that the universe was formed at God’s command, so that what is seen was not made out of what was visible. (Hebrews 11:1,3). Believe it, nothing has evolved, it was all planned by God, and this world is being maintained by Jesus Christ! Therefore, you can believe Jesus has a plan for your life, and a reason for your immortal soul to have a faith and a hope for eternal life as a child of God, and a time when you will join Jesus in the Paradise of God, where Jesus has already prepared a room for you.
Jesus will lovingly say to you, “Go to your room!” and be happy with Me forever! No more suffering and death as He has made everything new! Now that is good news!
