He Who Has The Son Has Life; He Who Does Not Have The Son Of God Does Not Have Life! (1 John 5:12)
1 John 5:18-19 INIV)
We know that anyone born of God does not continue to sin; the one who was born of God keeps him safe, and the evil one cannot harm him. We know that we are children of God, and that the whole world is under the control of the evil one.
What an amazing statement that John wrote in two sentences! First, he says, “We know that anyone born of God does not continue to sin!” This of course means that anyone born again tries to avoid sinning! In the next sentence he says, “We know - that the whole world is under the control of the evil one.” Did you get this great message that if you have been born again, even though Satan is controlling the world, you can avoid the temptations the world presents to you! Remember, everyone is born into this world with an inherited sinful nature. Therefore, you will be tempted by Satan, as Jesus was immediately after He was baptized, but if you have been born again you may be able to avoid sinning!
Unfortunately, I do not witness this kind of obedience displayed in this world! I believe that most people in this country have not been born again, yet! You can see this displayed every day, just take a not so leisurely drive on any highway! Everyone is sinning as they are driving faster than the posted speed limit, yes, that is a sin! Of course, most of the drivers have not yet been born again! Some professing Christians will admit they drive five miles per hour over the limit to somewhat stay out the way of the unsaved speeders! When a speeder wrecks and kills someone, they can be tried for some form of murder!
When God the Father sent Jesus into this world as the Son of Man and Jesus fulfilled the perfect sacrifice requirements and returned to His place in heaven, God modified His method of collaborating with mankind on this earth. The writer of Hebrews wrote about it. In the past God spoke to our forefathers through the prophets at many times and in various ways, but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed heir of all things, and through whom he made the universe. The Son is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact representation of his being, sustaining all things by his powerful word. After he had provided purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty in heaven. (Hebrews 1:1-3).
After giving us our Savior, God expects us to be able to control our sinful nature! This control is obtained when we accept Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior and become born again! When you were born again you became a child of God, and thus, you are included in the family of God. This unity of being part of the body of Christ was echoed by Jesus while He still walked this cursed world. Jesus said, "Again, I tell you that if two of you on earth agree about anything you ask for, it will be done for you by my Father in heaven. For where two or three come together in my name, there am I with them." (Matthew 18:19-20). Each believer brings a copy of the Holy Spirit with them, as Jesus left this Spirit to indwell believers, when He returned to heaven.
John wrote about this testimony from God in the hearts of believers. Anyone who believes in the Son of God has this testimony in his heart. Anyone who does not believe God has made him out to be a liar, because he has not believed the testimony God has given about his Son. And this is the testimony: God has given us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life. I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God so that you may know that you have eternal life. (1 John 5:10-13). If you choose to follow the Son of God in this lifetime your immortal soul will end up in heaven with God!
We know also that the Son of God has come and has given us understanding, so that we may know him who is true. And we are in him who is true—even in his Son Jesus Christ. He is the true God and eternal life. Dear children, keep yourselves from idols. (1 John 5:20-21). Worldly people do not understand or even believe this wonderful story about God sending His Son into this world to offer salvation as a free gift to everyone who believes it! The idols of this world distract people and Satan directs them toward the wide path that leads them to destruction, so their immortal soul ends up in hell.
Paul wrote about Jesus as the Creator of everything and that He is the image of God. He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. For by him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things were created by him and for him. (Colossians 1:15-16). This is very interesting to me, as we believe that all members of mankind are also made in the image and likeness of God. It is a shame that so many people have been hoodwinked into believing we evolved from apes. Is your soul ape-like, or is it God-like? Our Bible says we were created by Jesus as mature human beings ready to reproduce and fill the earth Jesus had just created for us!
Paul wrote to Timothy as he was entering the ministry about having respect and love for the congregations he would lead. And the Lord’s servant must not quarrel; instead, he must be kind to everyone, able to teach, not resentful. Those who oppose him he must gently instruct, in the hope that God will grant them repentance leading them to a knowledge of the truth, and that they will come to their senses and escape from the trap of the devil, who has taken them captive to do his will. (2 Timothy 2:24-26). Some people take pride in their sinful lifestyles and do not know that they need to confess their sinning and ask God for forgiveness. If they did, they too could be born again and be placed on the narrow path that would lead their immortal soul to heaven!
Paul wrote about the need to transition from the Old Testament law to becoming followers of Jesus Christ to obtain salvation. But what does it say? "The word is near you; it is in your mouth and in your heart," that is, the word of faith we are proclaiming: That if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved. (Romans 10:8-10). Amen and Amen!
