Being Born Again Has Placed You On The Narrow Path That Will Eventually Lead You To Heaven!
Romans 12:4-5 (NIV)
Just as each of us has one body with many members, and these members do not all have the same function, so in Christ we who are many form one body, and each member belongs to all the others.
If you want to experience a true feeling of togetherness, participate in a worship service in a church of your choice! If you are reading this and you do not attend worship services at a professing Christian church, then you are missing out on a regular recharge of your soul! If you belong to other earthly groups, and you have people you view as friends in such groups, the closeness does NOT compare with what you will experience with people who are meeting with each other, and they are being joined together with the Holy Spirit that happens in a church during worship. As the selected verse says, “so in Christ we who are many form one body, and each member belongs to all the others.”
Many people have the idea that they deserve to go to heaven when they die because they are good people. Professing Christians believe that following Jesus Christ is the only Way for anyone to go to heaven when we die. When you come to believe in Jesus you are changed, and this change is referred to as being “born again”!
Jesus once tried to explain this to a man named Nicodemus. Now there was a man of the Pharisees named Nicodemus, a member of the Jewish ruling council. He came to Jesus at night and said, "Rabbi, we know you are a teacher who has come from God. For no-one could perform the miraculous signs you are doing if God were not with him." In reply Jesus declared, "I tell you the truth, no-one can see the kingdom of God unless he is born again." "How can a man be born when he is old?" Nicodemus asked. "Surely he cannot enter a second time into his mother’s womb to be born!" Jesus answered, "I tell you the truth, no-one can enter the kingdom of God unless he is born of water and the Spirit. Flesh gives birth to flesh, but the Spirit gives birth to spirit. (John 3:1-6)
Paul wrote about this action of belief that puts you in line to go to heaven when you die. You do not get your ticket to heaven by being a good person, it is only by being born again that causes you to appear to God as being good enough. For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God—not by works, so that no-one can boast. For we are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do. (Ephesians 2:8-10).
Your belief has put you in line to end up in heaven, BUT being born again immediately changed you forever. You have become one of God’s chosen people on this earth. Paul wrote about this change. Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. (Colossians 3:12). Paul also wrote about how you (we) will now be operating in this world with the Holy Spirit indwelling you (us) as part of this change. But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law. (Galatians 5:22-23).
Being born again also has included your immortal soul to be a part of those who are referred to as saints. Paul wrote about this terminology to the church in Rome, and for us who still await death in this cursed world. To all in Rome who are loved by God and called to be saints: Grace and peace to you from God our Father and from the Lord Jesus Christ. (Romans 1:7). Remember, you did not become a saint by your good works, it is a gift from God, because you came to believe in His Son our Lord Jesus Christ!
Paul once again wrote about this change in you that has redirected your immortal soul from ending up in hell, to now heading to heaven when you die. But again, you were immediately changed and thus, your immortal soul no longer belongs in this cursed world, but it will remain here until Jesus is ready for you to join Him in the Paradise of God, in the room He has prepared for you. For we are to God the aroma of Christ among those who are being saved and those who are perishing. To the one we are the smell of death; to the other, the fragrance of life. And who is equal to such a task? (2 Corinthians 2:15-16). That change may be sensed by other people on this earth.
In this cursed world your transition will not be prefect as even born again people still possess a sinful nature, we all inherited from that first or original sin Adam and Eve committed in the Garden of Eden. Your sinful nature is now more controllable since you were born again, but it still remains with you in this cursed world. So, to people not yet born again you may exude “the smell of death,” but to other saints you may exude “the fragrance of life!”
Being born again has placed you on the narrow path that will eventually lead you to heaven! Jesus will direct and redirect us on that narrow path that will lead us toward Him, so we can work on becoming more Christ-like while we are still serving Him in this world. Jesus has said, Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it. (Matthew 7:13-14).
Is there someone you know who you may believe is not proceeding up that narrow path? Can you pray for the courage to tell them how having Jesus Christ in your life has increased your joy of living?
