Salvation Of Your Immortal Soul Must Be Accomplished Through A Gift!
Mark 8:36-37 (NIV)
What good is it for a man to gain the whole world, yet forfeit his soul? Or what can a man give in exchange for his soul?
We live in a temporary world, yet God has implanted an immortal soul in us, and it is His will that each of us will choose to follow Jesus Christ, so that your soul will end up in heaven someday. God allows evil to exist in this cursed world, and it is a good thing He does, because we would not be allowed to live here since we are all sinners! Therefore, salvation of your immortal soul must be accomplished through a gift, as we all have inherited a sinful nature because of the curse brought on by that first or original sin committed by Adam.
In this world you must study God’s Word to understand God’s will for you to be able to know enough to become a follower of Jesus Christ! You must believe Jesus came into this cursed world to offer everyone a Way to get on that narrow path that will lead you to heaven someday! The Way gets confusing, as in this cursed world you must gain a knowledge of worldly requirements, which will allow you to earn enough money to survive until you die and leave this temporary place.
Most of the people in this world today do not believe that following Jesus Christ is the Way for them to have their soul to end up in heaven when they die in this cursed world! Even many who profess to be followers of Jesus Christ have become confused about how to allow enough time to study God’s Word, and thus they may lose their immortal soul, as Jesus said in today’s selected verses, “What good is it for a man to gain the whole world, yet forfeit his soul? Or what can a man give in exchange for his soul?”
Paul wrote to Timothy about this need for a balance in the life of all believers to not spend all their time in earning money, and neglect to allow time to study God’s Word, because they have come to love money more than they seek God’s will for them. For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some people, eager for money, have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs. (1 Timothy 6:10). This message from Paul is being given to Timothy as a pastor or teacher, who will be directing people who are working on becoming followers of Jesus Christ.
As a professing believer it is extremely important that you (we) do your best to understand what the will of God is for you in your walk with Jesus! This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us. And if we know that he hears us—whatever we ask—we know that we have what we asked of him. (1 John 5:14-15). Do not be a “fair weather” follower of Jesus, which is to say, if times are great then you are a happy and do not feel the need to pray! Paul, who had a lot of struggles because of his faith, wrote about always taking time to pray in all circumstances. “Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.” (1 Thessalonians 5:16–18).
Paul was expressing a sentiment of whatever is happening to you in this cursed world “is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.” However, we should “Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer.” (Romans 12:12). Some people in this world may be suffering because they are followers of Jesus Christ, and it is important that they try to “Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer.”
We find ourselves in a world today that seems to be becoming more dangerous, and we have less acceptance of differences in opinion, and dangerous reactions are apt to happen. Road rage and senseless shooting are reported in the daily news reports every day. However, there are also reports of good Samaritans who sometimes save the day, as they help the people who are being attacked. This goodness comes out of the hearts of people who observe the crazy actions of other people. Remember, every human being has an immortal soul and a sinful nature, and which one of these is most in charge of the person dictates what their action and reaction might be in control of them.
Followers of Jesus Christ who are born again will be motivated and able to better control their sinful nature and let their god-like soul dictate their actions and reactions! This control can bring on a peaceful attitude even in evil situations. Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. (Philippians 4:6-7).
Believers in Jesus Christ can always be connected to Him, and we must try to always have the Holy Spirit present in our heart and mind! Jesus said, “I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit.” (John 15:4–5). Jesus’ brother James wrote about association with other believers, as he wrote about confession of our sins to others and about praying for each other. To me this sounds like being an active member of a church of your choice. Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective. (James 5:16).
In the recent past the USA left millions of people from other countries in our country and allowed more abortions of babies of citizens of the USA. Therefore, we now have a higher percentage of non-Chistian’s in our country. While this imbalance is caused by allowing illegal aliens to enter our country is not the biggest problem we face with God. The murder of millions of unwanted babies through abortions, which are created by God with an immortal soul seems to me to be a huge problem for God. If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land. (2 Chronicles 7:14).
The LORD met with Moses several times, two of those times was to give him and all believers of our Bible the Ten Commandments. God said these commandments were given to God’s chosen people and they were to be obeyed forever! Here God also emphasized the six days of creation of the universe which is to be used by mankind. God also mentioned the sabbath day as a time for mankind to rest, as God was resting from the creation timeframe. It will be a sign between me and the Israelites for ever, for in six days the LORD made the heavens and the earth, and on the seventh day he abstained from work and rested.’" When the LORD finished speaking to Moses on Mount Sinai, he gave him the two tablets of the Testimony, the tablets of stone inscribed by the finger of God. (Exodus 31:17-18). The first four commands are about how believers are to collaborate with God. The second six commands are how we are to work with other human beings. The sixth command is “You shall not murder.” (Exodus 20:13).
