Perfection Is The Free Gift Of Salvation, Which Jesus Christ Awards His True Followers!
Hebrews 11:13 (NIV)
All these people were still living by faith when they died. They did not receive the things promised; they only saw them and welcomed them from a distance. And they admitted that they were aliens and strangers on earth.
In the selected verse the writer of Hebrews is referring to a person God talked with and promised to give them rewards for their ability to obey God’s commands and to believe what God told them would occur in the future. However, most of these promises were not fulfilled before the believer died, but their descendants eventually received what God had promised to those He had prophesied, because they had believed God’s Word! If you believe you have an immortal soul, then that makes you no longer fit in this cursed mortal world. As it says in the selected verse, “they admitted that they were aliens and strangers on earth.”
Today we have our Bible to read and learn of promises God has made about amazing events that will occur in the future. Our Bible tells us that this cursed world is not how God/Jesus created it to be our forever home, or as we would call it heaven. Then Adam’s sin brought death into the future for mankind thus changing it into a mortal world! Therefore, since all members of mankind have an immortal piece, we call our soul, we must then admit that we, “aliens and strangers on earth.” Thank God that Jesus Christ came into this cursed world to offer salvation through His suffering death and resurrection as a free gift to anyone who would believe and become a Jesus follower!
In this world today only about thirty percent of people identify as professing Christians, so we are a minority in this cursed world. Of that small number of believers even many of them have come to believe all of mankind evolved here through death and suffering. Paul wrote a warning for Timothy about how people will believe stories other people have come to believe instead of believing God’s Word. For the time will come when men will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear. They will turn their ears away from the truth and turn aside to myths. (2 Timothy 4:3-4).
Solomon wrote about how believers need to study God’s Word and then to trust in what it directs us to do! Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight. (Proverbs 3:5-6). James wrote about the wisdom that comes to believers from heaven, and how we should try to understand and follow it. But the wisdom that comes from heaven is first of all pure; then peace-loving, considerate, submissive, full of mercy and good fruit, impartial and sincere. Peacemakers who sow in peace reap a harvest of righteousness. (James 3:17-18).
The US Government recently released unclassified files about reported UFO sightings. Unidentified Flying Objects have been seen and reported for many years. Remember, if you look up and see something flying in the sky and you cannot identify what it is, you have just seen a UFO! If you believe in evolution, then you would expect that it is likely that there could be other planets where evolution may have happened. If you believe in creation, then it would take God/Jesus to by a creation event create life in some form on a planet(s).
Based on our Bible study we should believe that Jesus/God created the universe, and that Jesus created Adam and Eve, with the ability to reproduce after their kind. The writer of Hebrews warns believers to be wary of strange teachings. Do not be carried away by all kinds of strange teachings. It is good for our hearts to be strengthened by grace, not by ceremonial foods, which are of no value to those who eat them. (Hebrews 13:9). Paul warns us to be cautious of strange teachings. Then we will no longer be infants, tossed back and forth by the waves, and blown here and there by every wind of teaching and by the cunning and craftiness of men in their deceitful scheming. (Ephesians 4:14).
Some people believe that UFO’s may be some kind of space craft that are being driven by aliens form another world. Are there aliens that exist and may have contact with this cursed world? Our Bible tells us, yes! Living with us are angels and demons! Satan and his demons where cast into this world, when Adam committed that first or original sin. They had been angels who stayed with God in the heavenly realms. Since God considered them to now be evil, they could no longer visit or stay with God. Then the writer of Hebrews indicates there may be angels who visit this earth and may even stay here! Do not forget to entertain strangers, for by so doing some people have entertained angels without knowing it. (Hebrews 13:2).
There are many accounts in our Bible about angels traversing between heaven and earth to help mankind, and Jesus even talked about the angels in heaven observing little children. See that you do not look down on one of these little ones. For I tell you that their angels in heaven always see the face of my Father in heaven. (Matthew 18:10). Some have called this a guardian angel, but as you can see the NIV, and most popular Bible translations say their angels not their angel! Jesus was emphasizing here that a childlike acceptance is important for all believers to try and maintain.
Well, this commentary does not offer much to dispel you from believing there may be aliens flying spacecraft and thus being seen from this earth. It does offer some alternatives for who or what the aliens may be described in God’s Word and to alert believers to account for sightings of something we cannot identify! Paul wrote to the church in Rome asking them to try to have their whole congregation to base their belief God’s Word and thus to think as one! May the God who gives endurance and encouragement give you the same attitude of mind toward each other that Christ Jesus had, so that with one mind and one voice you may glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. (Romans 15:5-6).
If we all believe in what is not seen as the ultimate reality, as opposed to believing what is seen, then we are basing our faith on the so far unseen, promises of God, which He gave us in the book we call our Bible! Remember, we live in a temporary cursed world, which houses evil entities including mankind, and the only salvation plan is being offered to us as a gift, if we believe that this plan is the only Way by which our immortal soul can be saved!
It seems good to close with Jesus’ statement to His followers we just need to be working on perfection! If you love those who love you, what reward will you get? Are not even the tax collectors doing that? And if you greet only your brothers, what are you doing more than others? Do not even pagans do that? Be perfect, therefore, as your heavenly Father is perfect. (Matthew 5:46-48). This perfection is the free gift of salvation, which Jesus Christ awards His true followers!
