Praying That You Can Celebrate With Your Family On This Thanksgiving Day To Be Thankful For The Blessings From Jesus Christ Our Savior!
1 Timothy 2:1-4 (NIV)
I urge, then, first of all, that requests, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for everyone—for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. This is good, and pleases God our Savior, who wants all men to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth.
Now let us reason together about giving thanks for the hope we can have because of what Paul wrote to Timothy who was becoming a pastor to advise God’s people who are planning to become believers, and thus are seeking a church of their choice to gather with other believers to worship God/Jesus! Paul wrote, “that requests, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for everyone—for kings and all those in authority.” This would result in people being peaceful “that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness.”
Then Paul summed it up by writing, “This is good, and pleases God our Savior, who wants all men to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth.” Paul wrote to the church in Rome about how the Holy Spirit was sent by Jesus to this earth when He was leaving it and going back to heaven. Thus, this Spirit is available to all believers to guide them in daily living and help them know how to pray! In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groans that words cannot express. (Romans 8:26). This Spirit also aids us as we study God’s Word in our Bible no matter what translation we may choose to read!
In our world today, being able to identify what is true is becoming increasingly difficult! You can find opposite answers to almost any question with seemingly good supporting documentation to back each person’s idea of the truth. Now we also face AI and wonder who or what is the entity expounding this truth we are being fed. Please believe there is only one book that supplies the absolute truth, because our Bible was supplies the Word of God. Even this truth is becoming subjective as new translations are being edited by human beings. All human beings have a sinful nature which is implanted in our being at fertilization.
We live in a sin-cursed world where many people seem to be becoming more violent, and thus, it seems is becoming more dangerous every day. Several countries are at war with each other, and the threat of nuclear weapons being used is even being threatened by Russia! On a personal basis Paul wrote about how believers should conduct themselves. Do not repay anyone evil for evil. Be careful to do what is right in the eyes of everybody. If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone. (Romans 12:17-18).
As believers we must try to live in peace with everyone. Paul wrote, “Do not take revenge, my friends, but leave room for God’s wrath, for it is written: "It is mine to avenge; I will repay," says the Lord. On the contrary: "If your enemy is hungry, feed him; if he is thirsty, give him something to drink. In doing this, you will heap burning coals on his head." Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good. (Romans 12:19-21). In helping someone who believes you are their enemy, they may experience a change of heart, if we only try to do good for them, they may see the light and become believers too! Jesus once said, In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven. (Matthew 5:16).
We need to remember that we too are sinners, and we fall short of being able to appear before God on our own merit. On our own without the salvation offered by believing in Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior, our immortal soul is headed to hell when we die! Paul wrote about the grace granted to believers and how he sensed it if the people in the church in Corinth. I always thank God for you because of his grace given you in Christ Jesus. For in him you have been enriched in every way—in all your speaking and in all your knowledge—because our testimony about Christ was confirmed in you. (1 Corinthians 1:4-6).
Jesus talked about how as believers we need to take a childlike approach, which means we are open to trusting in Him and open to studying His Word and believing in His plan of salvation. See that you do not look down on one of these little ones. For I tell you that their angels in heaven always see the face of my Father in heaven. (Matthew 18:10). Did you get the message about the belief that we have guardian angels who will be available to help us, even in this cursed lifetime!
Now that is a great Thanksgiving message, as hopefully we get to meet with our loving earthly families next Thursday on Thanksgiving Day! We can thank Jesus for having angels ready to help us not only on that day, but on every day in this temporary cursed world in which we now reside!
Praying that you can celebrate with your family on this Thanksgiving Day set aside in the USA to be thankful for the blessings from Jesus Christ our Savior! That is what we should be most thankful for!
Wishing you and yours,
A Happy Thanksgiving!
