Have you prayed today for anything? You could simply say, “Thank You Jesus for dying for my sins!”
Colossians 3:15 (NIV)
Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful.
Thanksgiving Day has come and gone for another year, but every day you wake up should be a day of giving thanks to God for He gave you your lifetime in this cursed world! Every human being is born with an immortal soul made in the image and likeness of Jesus/God! What a wonderful start to a life to be spent in a world being run by sinful human beings. We are also born with a sinful nature inherited from the original sin committed in the world that was meant to be heaven for us to live in forever!
Jesus came into this world to allow human beings to become united under Him by believing in Him as their personal Lord and Savior, thus becoming united “since as members of one body you were called to peace.” Have you accepted your salvation by becoming a believer in Jesus Christ? If you have then you should be expressing thanksgiving every day when you wake up in this cursed world, because you believe there is a place where Jesus Christ is and you will be joining Him there when you leave this cursed world! Since you can know where you are going some day is even better than this world, so we can truly have a peaceful feeling about today!
Paul writes about his sinful nature and his battle to try to control it. For in my inner being I delight in God’s law; but I see another law at work in the members of my body, waging war against the law of my mind and making me a prisoner of the law of sin at work within my members. What a wretched man I am! Who will rescue me from this body of death? Thanks be to God—through Jesus Christ our Lord! So then, I myself in my mind am a slave to God’s law, but in the sinful nature a slave to the law of sin. (Romans 7:22-25). Here is the good news for us in reviewing Paul’s struggle, we can take heart in our own struggle to do good and the times we may fail to avoid temptation. The fact that you struggle is a good sign, as you are aware of sinful thoughts, and you choose to try and avoid them, is the good news!
Paul also wrote about the possible good life you gain through your attempts to become more Christ-like. So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live your lives in him, rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness. (Colossians 2:6-7). When you choose to become a follower of Jesus Christ so you will “continue to live your lives in him, rooted and built up in him and overflowing with thankfulness.” Knowing that your salvation is assured allows us real freedom to give thanks not just on a special day but for every day!
The writer of Hebrews wrote about the uncertainty of this earth, and then how we should be looking forward to our future. The words "once more" indicate the removing of what can be shaken—that is, created things—so that what cannot be shaken may remain. Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, let us be thankful, and so worship God acceptably with reverence and awe, for our "God is a consuming fire." (Hebrews 12:27-29). We are told this earth will be consumed by fire sometime in the future. However, before that Jesus created this world as a wonderful place for us to live on and to work out our salvation.
It seems more people living here will go to hell when they die, instead of going to heaven. Have you worked out your salvation? Paul wrote about being sure you are concentrating on Jesus Christ in your everyday lifestyle. And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him. (Colossians 3:17). Have you thanked Jesus for dying for your sins, today? Have you prayed today for anything? You could simply say, “Thank You Jesus for dying for my sins!”
I have always been interested in the Biblical accounts of the Rapture, here Paul writes about it. For the Lord himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will be with the Lord for ever. Therefore encourage each other with these words. (1 Thessalonians 4:16-18). Think about it all of Jesus’s people will be brought together with Jesus in the clouds! Therefore encourage each other with these words.
An old song “Trust and Obey” came to mind, and I will end this commentary with the first verse and the refrain!
When we walk with the Lord
In the light of His Word
What a glory He sheds on our way
While we do His good will
He abides with us still
And with all who will trust and obey
Trust and obey
For there's no other way
To be happy in Jesus
But to trust and obey
Be happy in Jesus today and look forward to being with Him forever! Thank Him for this Good News!
