You Are Becoming More Beautiful To God, As You Are Living As A Believer In This Cursed World.
1 Corinthians 2:4-5 (NIV)
My message and my preaching were not with wise and persuasive words, but with a demonstration of the Spirit’s power, so that your faith might not rest on men’s wisdom, but on God’s power.
During this time in which we find ourselves, the national and local elections, a change of seasons, the holiday season kickoff, it becomes difficult to maintain a cheerful outlook! We find ourselves surrounded by people who are only lying when they speak! Lying is one of the deadly sins indicated in Scripture. My intent here in writing this commentary will be to avoid referring to current events, as all the news events are focused on telling what you believe to be true “for you!” The only absolute truth can be found in God’s Word as written, but theologians will read it, and then they will try to ascertain what God meant.
We live in a fallen world that is beautiful, because it is being maintained by our loving Jesus Christ. Paul wrote about this wonderful knowledge. He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. For by him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things were created by him and for him. He is before all things, and in him all things hold together. (Colossians 1:15-17). The trees are becoming colorful as the season change makes the leaves colorful as they are dying!
Solomon wrote about how God has made everything beautiful in its time. And how the Son of God created us with an immortal piece in our hearts, so that we can fathom eternity even in this cursed mortal world. He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the hearts of men; yet they cannot fathom what God has done from beginning to end. (Ecclesiastes 3:11). Even though we can feel our immortal soul we cannot understand all that God the Father offers for us in this mortal time of our lives.
Paul wrote about this calling that believers receive from Jesus when they come to believe that Jesus Christ is their personal Lord and Savior. And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose. (Romans 8:28). When you come to believe then the Holy Spirit becomes more of a reality to you and this Spirit helps you to become more Christ-like every day! Do you feel the love that only Jesus Christ exudes? Remember, this mortal life is the beginning not the end, as eternity awaits all those who are born again! Wow! Now that is truly Good News!
Do you make the Sabbath day a special day for you? Do you try to avoid doing any unnecessary work on that day, because God made it a day to rest as He did after He completed our creation in six days. It should become a day in which believers must go to a worship service at a church of your choice. For in six days the LORD made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that is in them, but he rested on the seventh day. Therefore the LORD blessed the Sabbath day and made it holy. (Exodus 20:11). Jesus is worthy of you (us) taking time out your schedule to join other believers in a Worship Service! All those attending are your brothers and sisters in Jesus Christ, so such a meeting is a family time! Every Sabbath day should be a family day for you, as you do deserve it! Jesus has promised to be there with you! More good news!
In this world all human beings have inherited a sinful nature which causes us to wish to deny our dependance on God for all knowledge of what truly is right and wrong. People want to have their opinion of right and wrong to be the standard, but of course, we are all sinners and incapable of truly knowing everything. Added to this level of incompetence is the reality of the presence of Satan and his demons being able to confuse us as to truly knowing right from wrong in this world!
In the book Revelation God revealed that disobeying angels were cast out of heaven, and they are here on this earth. The great dragon was hurled down—that ancient serpent called the devil, or Satan, who leads the whole world astray. He was hurled to the earth, and his angels with him. (Revelation 12:9). Therefore, all disobeying creatures Jesus created are living temporarily on this earth. Since we cannot see these demons, God has told us about them being here. So, we share this cursed world with other sinners and with demons. As you can see as believers, we need a Savior to protect our immortal soul and to give us salvation, and we need a Holy Spirit to guide us away from worldly attractions and toward working out our salvation leading us to becoming more Christ-like every day!
Our salvation is a free gift, as it cannot be gained by us as we are living with a sinful nature. God does not surround Himself with sinful beings, whether they are human or angelic! Jesus supplied the perfect sacrifice required by God to cover over our sinful nature, and to allow us to occupy the room being prepared for us by Jesus in the Paradise of God. Where our immortal soul will wait for the new earth to be created, replacing this cursed world! We just need to wait in this beautiful world Jesus created and maintains. The tree leaves are becoming more beautiful as they are dying. You are becoming more beautiful to God, as you are living as a believer in this cursed world.
Your brother in life through Adam, your brother in eternity through Jesus,
