Jesus Prepared A Room For You The Day You Gave Your Soul To God, And He Marked It For Entry Into The Book Of Life.
James 2:17 (NIV)
In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead.
Do you believe in God? Okay, which God do you believe in? Is it the God of the Bible, or is it a god you have fashioned in your mind, because you have not studied the Bible enough to come to know this God described in our Bible? Do you attend a church of your choice regularly? If you answer is no then you are more likely to be following a god of your choice, which may not result in your immortal soul ending up in heaven! As I understand what James was writing about was a faith, “accompanied by action” which would be about helping other people who needed help, but without communal mingling with fellow believers it seems unrealistic that you (we) would desire to help others in need.
When Jesus walked this earth as the Son of Man He collaborated with His followers, and He attended the church of that time regularly. Since He did not approve of what the religious leaders were doing, He told them so and tried to convince them of their failures. Do you consider yourself to be able to be a loner and you do not need the support for your belief system, so you do not need to attend a church of your choice on a regular basis? It is true there is no perfect church in this cursed world because they are all being run by sinners! However, remember, you too are a sinner, so you will fit right in!
The writer of Hebrews urged us to attend a meeting place with other like-minded believers. And let us consider how we may spur one another on towards love and good deeds. Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching. (Hebrews 10:24-25). Thie writer teaches us to, “spur one another on towards love and good deeds.” Then he warns us to be regular in our attendance, “Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing.” Just as James wrote, our religion should cause us to do good deeds, and to help others. Individually we can do a little to help others in need, but as part of a group we can do much more!
Before Jesus Christ came into this world believers referred to God in a singular term but with different names realizing that there was God the Father and the Holy Spirit or the Holy Ghost. Samuel wrote about this God and referred to Him also as the Lord. How great you are, Sovereign Lord! There is no one like you, and there is no God but you, as we have heard with our own ears. (2 Samuel 7:22). They professed their belief that, “there is no God but you!” Of course, under the new covenant we profess the Father, Son, and the Holy Spirit as the triune God.
Paul warned the church in Rome, and us, to be careful not to conform to this temporary cursed world! Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will. (Romans 12:2). Then Paul teaches us to, “be transformed by the renewing of your mind.” This renewal, I believe, can only be possible if we spent time every day in studying your Bible, and then by meeting regularly with like-minded believers. I think this must also require regular attendance at a church of your choice, where you must worship the triune God!
I believe it is an all-in-all requirement that must include times in which you worship God and ask for His direction for your life! This is the only Way that anyone can begin to ascertain the will of God. Then when you pray, the Holy Spirit will help guide your thoughts, and allow those earthly distractions to be avoided, at least when you are praying. And you must pray often to Jesus Christ through the Holy Spirit!
Paul wrote about praying, and he said we need to pray continually. Make sure that nobody pays back wrong for wrong, but always try to be kind to each other and to everyone else. Be joyful always; pray continually; give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus. (1 Thessalonians 5:15-18). I find this is a good idea as we have opportunities every day to have a sudden prayer come to mind, either in good or bad situations. In good situations we can give a quick thank You to Jesus, and in not so good times we can still offer a prayer asking for help in mentally handling the situation and stop us from wanting to lash out at someone involved. Note what Paul advised just before praying continually he wrote, “Make sure that nobody pays back wrong for wrong!”
Our world would be so much improved if everyone abided by such prayerful and thoughtful observances in their everyday life. What do you do? We all have a sinful nature, and if it is not controlled our reactions to bad situations our reaction will be available for Satan to intervein in our thoughts instead of us getting help from the Holy Spirit. Where does your help come from? This is an important question for you, all of us, to answer. We do not have complete control over our sinful nature, but if you have been born again, then you have access to help from the Holy Spirit at all times. However, you must allow this Holy Spirit to override your sinful nature’s response!
The writer of Hebrews warns believers about our need to be prepared for temptations! This preparation involves being knowledgeable of our Bible, which is gained by significant study! In fact, though by this time you ought to be teachers, you need someone to teach you the elementary truths of God’s word all over again. You need milk, not solid food! Anyone who lives on milk, being still an infant, is not acquainted with the teaching about righteousness. But solid food is for the mature, who by constant use have trained themselves to distinguish good from evil. (Hebrews 5:12-14). Notice what is written, “by this time you ought to be teachers, but” you need someone to teach you the elementary truths of God’s word all over again.”
Are you ready for the temptations of this cursed world? If you are not sure you should get to work on becoming more Christ-like every day. Do not wait but start working on it today. If you are working on it, do not let worldly troubles stop your study. Jesus is willing to share your yoke and thus help you become more like Him! Remember, this world is a wonderful but temporary place, it is not the place for your immortal soul to remain in. Jesus prepared a room for you the day you gave your soul to God, and He marked it for entry into the Book of Life.
