In the USA today we may be facing a “turning point” in the future of our country!
Matthew 5:43-45 (NIV)
"You have heard that it was said, ‘Love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ But I tell you: Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, that you may be sons of your Father in heaven. He causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous.
Last week I wrote about what parents teach their children and how this training will be believed by the child and carried forward into the rest of their life. If such training is based on love for every human being, then that person will want to do good deeds for others for the rest of their life. If, however, parents teach their children to love only people who agree with them on all issues of life, then such a person will distrust everyone who their parents singled out. Some parents are teaching their children to be afraid of all people who are employed in the law enforcement sector, which may cause them to be afraid if they are stopped in some way by a law enforcement person. In their panic such a person will try to escape and may then be forcibly apprehended and at time even injured or killed when they resist such apprehension!
Some people are taught that human life is not anything special, and thus, like any other animal it is okay for you to kill them for all most any reason. If they disagree with things you believe in strongly, it is okay for you to kill them. In fact, some have been taught by gang members or by some radical group that is your duty as a member to kill anyone who disagrees with the beliefs held by the group.
Sorry for this litany of reasoning to allow murder to be justified to a non-Christian person, who has been influenced by murderous people they have surrounded themselves with, or by a loner who does not love themselves and may have had their immortal soul to become possessed by demonic evil! Yes, I do believe demonic possession is still possible.
Jesus is the answer! In the selected verses for today’s VOW, Jesus taught His disciples (us) that we must “Love your enemies!” Jesus believed and taught that we must love everyone, when said, "You have heard that it was said, ‘Love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ But I tell you: Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you.” When you do this, you are changed so “that you may be sons of your Father in heaven. Jesus noted here that God does not show partiality when it comes to maintaining the earth as He sends the sun and rain to both the good and evil.
Matthew wrote about how Jesus answered when asked what commandment is the most important. One of the teachers of the law came and heard them debating. Noticing that Jesus had given them a good answer, he asked him, "Of all the commandments, which is the most important?" "The most important one," answered Jesus, "is this: ‘Hear, O Israel, the Lord our God, the Lord is one. Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’ The second is this: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no commandment greater than these." (Matthew 12:28-31).
As you can see from Jesus’ answer you must first love God, then you must love yourself, before you can love your neighbor! This command we have called the Golden Rule teaches us to love every human being and to value them as someone to be loved, because of their immortal soul implanted in them at fertilization of the forming of a human baby. Jesus earthly brother wrote about the evils of the human tongue, when he wrote “With the tongue we praise our Lord and Father, and with it we curse men, who have been made in God’s likeness.” (James 3:9). Every human being starts life in this cursed world burdened with a sinful nature we inherit from the first or original sin.
If our sinful nature is left to be in control and thus tempted by Satan, we are all capable of becoming a murderer. Murder is not a new thing in this cursed world, there was a time when there were three men living in this cursed world, one was the father of the two brothers, and the first murder was committed. Then the LORD said to Cain, "Why are you angry? Why is your face downcast? If you do what is right, will you not be accepted? But if you do not do what is right, sin is crouching at your door; it desires to have you, but you must master it." Now Cain said to his brother Abel, "Let’s go out to the field." And while they were in the field, Cain attacked his brother Abel and killed him. Then the LORD said to Cain, "Where is your brother Abel?" "I don’t know," he replied. "Am I my brother’s keeper?" The LORD said, "What have you done? Listen! Your brother’s blood cries out to me from the ground. (Genesis 4:6-10).
In a TV show I watched recently a serial murder referred to this Bible story and said, we are all descendants of a murderer, meaning that Cain was the father of all of us, so to speak. However, he did not read enough and came to know that Cain was cast out and his people were destined to die out. The rest of the story in our Bible tells us that in destiny his spot in the line of Adam was replaced by Seth. Adam lay with his wife again, and she gave birth to a son and named him Seth, saying, "God has granted me another child in place of Abel, since Cain killed him." (Genesis 4:25).
Yesterday we remembered all the people who were killed by terrorists now some 24 years ago. Patriot Day is a national day of remembrance for the victims of the September 11 terrorist attacks in 2001. It is observed on September 11 with flags at half-staff, a moment of silence, and volunteer activities. (From Wikipedia). This special observance was overshadowed by the mass media coverage of the assignation of Charlie Kirk a young man and father, who formed the Christian organization Turning Point. Here is a short report copied from the Internet. Kirk, 31, the CEO and co-founder of the conservative youth organization Turning Point USA, was fatally shot in the neck during an outdoor speaking event at Utah Valley University Wednesday.
In the USA today we may be facing a “turning point” in the future of our country. Is it possible for people who believe that all human beings are born into this cursed world with a God-like piece we call our immortal soul, or are we just the animal that holds the highest spot on the food chain, as evolutionary teachers teach all our children? It is becoming more dangerous to live in the USA as there are more guns and other weapons in the hands of people who do not believe in the godlike essence of every human being. Such people do not hold human beings as being special in any way, they would consider shooting rats in a dump on the same level as shooting people in a fun game of drive by shooting of human beings! This has often been done in Cincinnati, Ohio!
This is a time to pray for the USA, and for this entire cursed world. Pray that this is a time for mankind to turn to Jesus! Jesus is the answer! Salvation is found in no-one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved." (Acts 4:12).
