Our Bible Describes What Actions And Lifestyles Are Sinful, And Thus, Must Be Avoided In This Cursed World, If We Wish To Please Jesus!
John 6:28-29 (NIV)
Then they asked him, "What must we do to do the works God requires?" Jesus answered, "The work of God is this: to believe in the one he has sent."
When Jesus came upon this earth the salvation plan changed from requiring sacrifices be made and the Law being followed, to the ONLY requirement being to believe in Jesus Christ as being the only Lord and Savior, and thus works were no longer required! This change was very confusing to the people God had chosen to be His people, and the only ones who could have their immortal soul being saved through their works, to now allowing salvation to everyone who chooses to believe that Jesus Christ is their Lord and Savior! As a result, ONLY followers of Jesus Christ, as the Son of God would have their immortal soul directed to the Paradise of God when we die in this cursed world. Salvation was now only available through belief in Jesus Christ to be your Lord and Savior.
Immediately when a person believes that Jesus Christ came into this world as the Messiah or Savior that person becomes born again, which means their immortal soul will be transported into a holding place where Jesus has prepared a room for them, when they die in this temporary world. Their immortal soul will remain there until the new earth, AKA heaven is created. John wrote about the revelation he received from God about this future event. Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and there was no longer any sea. I saw the Holy City, the new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride beautifully dressed for her husband. And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, "Now the dwelling of God is with men, and he will live with them. They will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God. (Revelation 21:1-3).
A Born-Again person is alive, sinful, and yet saved! Alive because we have an immortal soul. Sinful because we have a sinful nature. Saved because we have The Holy Spirit indwelling us. All born again believers become part of the family of God. Paul wrote about this Godly oneness. There is neither Jew nor Gentile, neither slave nor free, nor is there male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus. (Galatians 3:28). Paul also describes how each earthly church has members who supply the needed manpower to run each church. For just as each of us has one body with many members, and these members do not all have the same function, so in Christ we, though many, form one body, and each member belongs to all the others. (Romans 12:4-5). Are you functioning as an integral part of the church of your choice?
Some people seem to think they are good enough to go to heaven, so they do not need to attend a church! John wrote about the confusion about what could count as goodness while you live in this cursed world. If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness. If we claim we have not sinned, we make him out to be a liar and his word has no place in our lives. (1 John 1:8-10). God has given us a book that describes for us what lifestyles and actions we may choose to do are sinful, and if not confessed may result in our soul ending up in hell when we die. Our Bible describes what actions and lifestyles are sinful, and thus, must be avoided in this cursed world, if we wish to please Jesus! Have you studied it?
Paul wrote about the perfect sacrifice Jesus Christ made for us (you) when He allowed mankind to murder Him by hanging Him on a cross! While mankind was still sinning, Jesus chose to die for us! When you were dead in your sins and in the uncircumcision of your sinful nature, God made you alive with Christ. He forgave us all our sins, having cancelled the written code, with its regulations, that was against us and that stood opposed to us; he took it away, nailing it to the cross. And having disarmed the powers and authorities, he made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them by the cross. (Colossians 2:13-15). This is certainly good news!
Here may be the best news for us (you) that Jesus died while mankind was still sinning. God did not require us to clean up out act first before He sent Jesus to die for our sins. Very rarely will anyone die for a righteous man, though for a good man someone might possibly dare to die. But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Since we have now been justified by his blood, how much more shall we be saved from God’s wrath through him! (Romans 5:7-9).
I have had people tell me they may start attending church of their choice as soon as they clean-up their act first. If you are waiting for that perfect church before you attend it on a regular basis, let me tell you the perfect church does not exist in this cursed world. Each church is run by and attended by sinners! Every human being has a sinful nature inherited from the first or original sin committed in the heavenly Garden of Eden! Only people who claim to be good do not see the need to attend a church of their choice on a regular basis!
Are you too good to worship God, with other sinners?
