It Is True You Can Know That Your Immortal Soul Will End Up In Heaven!
1 Peter 2:24 (NIV)
He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; by his wounds you have been healed.
Every human being is born into this world with a sinful nature inherited from the first or original sin committed in the Garden of Eden. We will all be tempted to sin by our sinful nature! We cannot on our own power control our sinful nature. We all need to have this weakness controlled by some force outside of our own power. We need an intercessor to not only give us control but to permanently heal this weakness. There is only “One Way” for you to gain this control, which Peter wrote about in the selected verse where it states, “by his wounds you have been healed.”
If you chose to work on becoming a follower of Jesus Christ, then and only then, will you be able to experience some control over your sinful nature. Followers refer to this process as working on becoming more Christ-like every day! No, you will never be able to have total control over your sinful nature! However, the Good News is that “He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness.” It is true you can know that your immortal soul will end up in heaven, because Jesus died as payment in full for your sins!
To become a follower of Jesus you must believe He is the promised Massiah before you will decide to love Him because He died for your sins. Then Judas (not Judas Iscariot) said, "But, Lord, why do you intend to show yourself to us and not to the world?" Jesus replied, “Anyone who loves me will obey my teaching. My Father will love them, and we will come to them and make our home with them.” He who does not love me will not obey my teaching. These words you hear are not my own; they belong to the Father who sent me. "All this I have spoken while still with you. But the Counsellor, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you. (John 14:22-26).
When you became a believer in Jesus Christ you were changed or born again. You, however, are controlled not by the sinful nature but by the Spirit, if the Spirit of God lives in you. And if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he does not belong to Christ. But if Christ is in you, your body is dead because of sin, yet your spirit is alive because of righteousness. (Romans 8:9-10). As a believer it is your responsibility to work on becoming more Christ-like by studying your Bible, and by associating with other believers. Yes, this means attending a church of your choice, regularly! I do not believe anyone can truly be a follower of Jesus Christ without regular attendance of a church, if that is possible where you live! For people who cannot go to a church you can watch the worship service on TV or via a computer.
In this country it is difficult to truly be a humble person. We are told to strive for earthly wealth. The first step in becoming a person who can claim humility is to know God/Jesus as your personal Savior. And so we know and rely on the love God has for us. God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in them. (1 John 4:16). It is difficult to truly come to know and love God, at least I find it easier to love Jesus as He died for my sins. Now we can think about other people and still think about being humble.
Following are some verses that refer to truly being humble when compared to God, which may result in true wisdom. Who is wise and understanding among you? Let them show it by their good life, by deeds done in the humility that comes from wisdom. (James 3:13). Jesus died for me! He is the one we proclaim, admonishing and teaching everyone with all wisdom, so that we may present everyone fully mature in Christ. (Colossians 1:28). Jesus died for me! Finally, all of you, be like-minded, be sympathetic, love one another, be compassionate and humble. (1 Peter 3:8). Jesus died for me! Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others. (Philippians 2:3-4). Jesus died for me! Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen. (Ephesians 4:29).
Jesus died for me! Amen!
