Is Your Immortal Soul Ready For A Flight To The Room Jesus Has Prepared Just For You In The Heavenly Realms?
John 5:24 (NIV)
I tell you the truth, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life and will not be condemned; he has crossed over from death to life.
Jesus is the answer! What is the question? It does not matter what happens to you in this lifetime. If you believe Jesus is the answer, then your immortal soul is eventually going to end up in heaven! So, what is required for salvation? Jesus said, “whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life and will not be condemned!” If you can accept it, then as Jesus has said “you have crossed over from death to life.” Now that is certainly the Good News!
We live in a cursed world where opportunities to sin are being presented by evil thinking people and by demons who our Bible tells us roam this earth. We certainly see evidence of this if we listen to the regular news reports every day. The lead stories are always reporting a shooting of some person, or the shooting of many people, or of someone running a vehicle into a crowd of people. Many people seem to think, if I disagree with someone it is okay to kill them, some seem to think doing so is being a hero of some sort!
The writer of Hebrews reports that only God is supposed to conduct vengeance, we are to leave it to God, and thus, alleviate this burden of vengeance to Him alone. For we know him who said, “It is mine to avenge; I will repay,” and again, “The Lord will judge his people.” It is a dreadful thing to fall into the hands of the living God. (Hebrews 10:30-31). When we take vengeance as our duty, it actually turns God against us for we have put ourselves as being holy enough to judge His people!
When we start to think of ourselves as being holy enough to judge others we may be tempted and fall into sinful thought and actions. Paul wrote about this situation, and notes that God will still give us help, if we are truly a believer. So, if you think you are standing firm, be careful that you don’t fall! No temptation has seized you except what is common to man. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can stand up under it. (1 Corinthians 10:12-13). Jesus will allow a believer a way out if you pray that His will be done!
It is important for believers to sometimes suffer but to think beyond this world so we can suffer but to not give in to sinning, because our long-term happiness is not limited to just this world. For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal. (2 Corinthians 4:17-18). While our immediate feeling good may be gained by sinful things we do may make it seem okay, if we are truly a believer we will almost always have bad feelings hit us and cause us to regret what we just did! Happiness gained through sinful actions is short lived, and we have missed the way-out Jesus has given us!
John wrote about the sin committed by a believer, by first telling us to avoid sinning, but if we do not, we must believe such a sin will be forgiven, because we have an advocate for us (you) with God. My dear children, I write this to you so that you will not sin. But if anybody does sin, we have an advocate with the Father—Jesus Christ, the Righteous One. (1 John 2:1). Therefore, as a believer you must try to avoid sinning, so that you can feel good about yourself, because you have not needed to have Jesus front for you with God your Father in heaven!
We may honestly look at avoiding sinful pleasures as a negative kind of feeling like we are suffering to maintain our sinless lifestyle! Paul wrote about if we feel we suffer as believers, but we should feel blessed by our suffering for doing good. Not only so, but we also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope. (Romans 5:3-4). It is important to avoid obvious temptations by not going to places where sinful actions are known to occur.
In our Bible we read about the rewards God has planned for believers! We can be confident about these promises of God! The writer of Hebrews wrote about such confidence. So do not throw away your confidence; it will be richly rewarded. You need to persevere so that when you have done the will of God, you will receive what he has promised. (Hebrews 10:35-36). John wrote about the promises Jesus made to His disciples and future followers!
Jesus once said, "Do not let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God; trust also in me. In my Father’s house are many rooms; if it were not so, I would have told you. I am going there to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am. You know the way to the place where I am going."
Thomas said to him, "Lord, we don’t know where you are going, so how can we know the way?" Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No-one comes to the Father except through me. If you really knew me, you would know my Father as well. From now on, you do know him and have seen him."
(John 14:1-7).
These are my favorite verses from our Bible, so you may see them a lot in Verse of the Week commentaries! I never get tired of reading and hearing these verses! I think the greatest promise from Jesus Christ is, “I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am. I believe when a believer dies in this cursed world, you will immediately hear a voice you will recognize, as Jesus who has come to take to where He is! Are you ready to go with Jesus? Is your immortal soul ready for a flight to the room Jesus has prepared just for you in the heavenly realms?
