The Good News Is That If You Believe Jesus Christ Is Your Savior And Lord Then You Will Get The Chance To Serve With Him.
Proverbs 22:6 (NIV)
Start children off on the way they should go, and even when they are old they will not turn from it.
We see this idea lived out all around us every day! Some children are taught that if anyone opposes you it is okay to kill them! So, every night on the news we hear of someone being shot and then the report says if they died, or if they may recover. Just think if that same child had been taught that if someone treats you badly, you should try your best to understand them, and to forgive them.
Peter once asked Jesus about how many times should I forgive someone who has sinned against him? Then Peter came to Jesus and asked, "Lord, how many times shall I forgive my brother when he sins against me? Up to seven times?" Jesus answered, "I tell you, not seven times, but seventy-seven times.” (Matthew 18:21-22). Notice Peter did not ask if he should forgive, but how many times he should still forgive. Remember, Jesus/God did not place a limit on the number of sins you are allowed to commit before His perfect sacrifice will no longer allow total forgiveness!
John the Baptist baptized people for the forgiveness of their sins, but baptism alone will not save your immortal soul! And so John came, baptizing in the desert region and preaching a baptism of repentance for the forgiveness of sins. And this was his message: "After me will come one more powerful than I, the thongs of whose sandals I am not worthy to stoop down and untie. I baptize you with water, but he will baptize you with the Holy Spirit." (Mark 1:4, 7-8). This baptism with the Holy Spirit happens when you believe Jesus Christ is the Messiah or Savior of this cursed world! You are then born again into the family of God!
John wrote about the new covenant and how the perfect sacrifice of Jesus did away with the sacrifices in the temple being required in the law God had given Moses. For the law was given through Moses; grace and truth came through Jesus Christ. No-one has ever seen God, but God the One and Only, who is at the Father’s side, has made him known. (John 1:17-18). Salvation is now received only through grace and truth. This “grace and truth came through Jesus Christ.”
Once you have included Jesus Christ in your everyday life you can then be expected to become more forgiving and to be able to maintain a positive demeanor toward other people, even those people who do not share your belief. However, you must attempt to tell such people about how your life has improved since you became born again. Jesus once told a parable in which the master is God and God is lauding this servant and telling them to share in God’s happiness! "His master replied, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master’s happiness!’ (Matthew 25:21). Are you sharing in the happiness rained down by God?
While Jesus still walked this earth, He tried to teach His disciples about who He is and what He is capable of doing for anyone who chooses to follow Him. John wrote about one of those teaching times. "Do not let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God; trust also in me. In my Father’s house are many rooms; if it were not so, I would have told you. I am going there to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am. You know the way to the place where I am going."
Thomas said to him, "Lord, we don’t know where you are going, so how can we know the way?" Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No-one comes to the Father except through me. (John 14:1-6).
Jesus is explaining to His disciples (us) that when a believer dies our immortal soul leaves this cursed earth, and goes to a holding place, I call the Paradise of God. Your immortal soul awaits in the room Jesus prepared for you until heaven is ready for you to move into heaven! Thomas and likely you may wonder how we will find the room Jesus prepared can be found by you (us)? Jesus has already told Thomas, when He said, “I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am.” When you die Jesus will come back to escort your immortal soul to its waiting place until heaven is ready!
The next difficult to comprehend promise about how Jesus is the Son of the Triune God, and thus, when you see Him, you have also seen God. If you really knew me, you would know my Father as well. From now on, you do know him and have seen him." Philip said, "Lord, show us the Father and that will be enough for us." Jesus answered: "Don’t you know me, Philip, even after I have been among you such a long time? Anyone who has seen me has seen the Father. How can you say, ‘Show us the Father’? Do not you believe that I am in the Father, and that the Father is in me? The words I say to you are not just my own. Rather, it is the Father, living in me, who is doing his work. Believe me when I say that I am in the Father and the Father is in me; or at least believe on the evidence of the miracles themselves. (John 14:7-11).
Jesus is trying to help Philip, and us, to understand that Jesus was the Son of Man and the (Son of God the second person of the Triune God), while He still walked on this cursed world. Jesus tried to make it as simple as possible to believe that He the Father are one, by saying, “Believe me when I say that I am in the Father and the Father is in me; or at least believe on the evidence of the miracles themselves.” Philip had witnessed many of the miracles Jesus had performed, so this helped him possibly accept these difficult teachings of Jesus. We, of course, have our Bible to read about these amazing miracles, and somewhat grasp the wonders of the living God!
John wrote about what Jesus allowed him to see for us in the book of Revelation. He wrote the end of the curse, which will occur after this cursed earth is destroyed, and the new earth has been created, which will also be known as heaven. No longer will there be any curse. The throne of God and of the Lamb will be in the city, and his servants will serve him. (Revelation 22:3). Are you ready to become a servant of God? The Good News is that if you believe Jesus Christ is your Savior and Lord then you will get the chance to serve with Him. However, you will have to wait until your immortal soul leaves this earth, and heaven is ready. For now, you will have the Holy Spirit indwelling your mortal body to help you pray, and to be blessed by having Jesus share your earthly yoke! That still sounds like good news to me! Are you ready to be happy in Jesus?
