We Should Be Ready To Tell How Loving Jesus Christ Has Positively Improved Our Outlook On Life In This Cursed World!
John 6:66-69 (NIV)
From this time many of his disciples turned back and no longer followed him. "You do not want to leave too, do you?" Jesus asked the Twelve. Simon Peter answered him, "Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life. We believe and know that you are the Holy One of God."
Most of the people on this earth today are confused by the stories that other human beings have devised about the purpose for their life! Worldly religions have told them many different ideas about what their lot in life is predicated on or why they were born into this cursed world. Many people do not believe this world is cursed, even many who profess to be followers of Jesus Christ. If you do not believe that Jesus came into this world to offer salvation only to those who understand, and thus, believe as Simon Peter professed, “We believe and know that you are the Holy One of God."
Salvation is limited and available only to people who believe the one and only salvation plan offered by the one Triune God! We must believe that Jesus Christ is the Savior offered to residents of this earth and is required to allow our sinful natures to be controllable through the assistance of the Holy Spirit! When Jesus departed from this earth, He left behind on this cursed earth this Holy Spirit, which becomes available to everyone who believes that Jesus Christ is their Lord and Savior.
Jesus told His disciples a lot of the same things He told anyone who would listen to Him. However, they came to believe what He told them and developed a faith in Him! John wrote about one such conversation. Then Judas (not Judas Iscariot) said, "But, Lord, why do you intend to show yourself to us and not to the world?" Jesus replied, "If anyone loves me, he will obey my teaching. My Father will love him, and we will come to him and make our home with him. He who does not love me will not obey my teaching. These words you hear are not my own; they belong to the Father who sent me. "All this I have spoken while still with you. But the Counsellor, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you.” (John 14:22-26).
There are more people in this world today who do not know and love Jesus Christ, than those who are trying to become more Christ-like every day! Are you trying to become more Christ-like every day? That is what born again Christians are working on every day!
In Old Testament times God spoke to His chosen people and assured them that He loved them and that He had their best interests in His mind. Jeremiah brought such good news to the chosen believers. For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart. (Jeremiah 29:11-13). Isaiah wrote about how God would direct His chosen people in how they should live. This is what the Lord says—your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel: “I am the Lord your God, who teaches you what is best for you, who directs you in the way you should go. (Isaiah 48:17).
Paul wrote letters to Timothy to help guide him in his ministry! What you heard from me, keep as the pattern of sound teaching, with faith and love in Christ Jesus. Guard the good deposit that was entrusted to you--guard it with the help of the Holy Spirit who lives in us. (2 Timothy 1:13-14). Paul here reminds Timothy about how the Holy Spirit will guide him if he allows it! We all need to seek the Holy Spirit to aid us to override the hold that our inherited sinful nature can have on us to direct us in the wrong directions in our life.
Matthew wrote about when Jesus ascended back to heaven and left the Great Commission for all who come to believe that Jesus supplied the perfect sacrifice needed to supply salvation for all those who come to believe it! Jesus left this message for all His followers to enlist their commitment to help spread the Word so that all human beings hear the Good News! Then the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain where Jesus had told them to go. When they saw him, they worshipped him; but some doubted. Then Jesus came to them and said, "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age." (Matthew 28:16-20).
We do not need to become a missionary and travel to foreign places to teach or preach this Word about salvation, as there are people around us every day who have not yet come to believe the written accounts about Jesus Christ. We should be ready to tell how loving Jesus Christ has positively improved our outlook on life in this cursed world! Such stories may be enough to convince someone to seek out more information about Jesus, and they may even try to read a Bible about the greatest story ever told that changed our world!
Who knows, they may even consider choosing a church of their choice to attend, if they were not already attending a church occasionally!
