Remember This, A Godlike Piece Of You Is Immortal, Believe It And Be Happy In Jesus!
1 John 5:12-13 (NIV)
He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life. I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God so that you may know that you have eternal life.
Do you believe you have an immortal soul? To believe this you must believe there is a God, and that God must be the God who has given mankind a description of Himself for us in our Bible! After reading the selected verses, it may leave you asking, do you know you have life—or just hope you do? Do you believe that becoming a follower of Jesus Christ is the ONLY Way for your immortal soul to end up in heaven? Jesus told His disciples this truth when He was still walking this earth as the Son of Man. When Thomas stated he did know the Way, Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No-one comes to the Father except through me.” (John 14:6).
This is a stumbling block that Satan uses to distract followers of Jesus Christ from being evangelists as we have been commanded by God! If you believe other religions in this world, if followed and believed, then God will allow their soul to end up in heaven, then you have no reason to tell them about Jesus Christ! In this world today only about one third of the people profess to be Christians! That means if following Jesus Christ is the only Way to get on that narrow path that will lead an immortal soul to end up in heaven, then two thirds of the people on earth today will end up in hell!
Just a reminder of that command Jesus gave His disciples (us) as He was leaving this earth and ascending back to Our Father in heaven. Then the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain where Jesus had told them to go. When they saw him, they worshipped him; but some doubted. Then Jesus came to them and said, "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age." (Matthew 28:16-20).
Of great importance here is what Jesus said about us being teachers, He said “teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.” This is where churches come into play, as teaching can be one one-on-one, but that requires a lot of lost time, as teaching a group saves a lot of time. So, schools make a lot of sense, and having schooling taking place on the Sabbath Day really makes common sense! Do you attend or teach a Sunday School at the church of your choice? Jesus did when He walked this earth as the Son of man!
Jesus also taught about having a child-like faith as being essential to salvation. Jesus once said, “I tell you the truth, anyone who will not receive the kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it." (Luke 18:17). Jesus did not mean to be childish and believe anything some human is espousing but instead being child-like and thus receptive to Biblically sound teaching being taught at many churches. If you have studied your Bible and then elect to lead a class at your church, you will learn a lot from your students. I have been leading such classes for years, and I have learned through love sharing in those classes. It is the best way to end each Sabbath Day, after having worshiped God in the church of my choice.
Some people have a problem in committing themselves to attending a church on a regular basis. To me a regular basis is every Sunday! The problem for some is they seem to think they lose some freedom to do their own thing by committing their life to follow Jesus! As Paul wrote about turning your life over to Jesus. If we live, we live for the Lord; and if we die, we die for the Lord. So, whether we live or die, we belong to the Lord. (Romans 14:8). Face it, thank you God! we (all) belong to the Lord. Remember this, a godlike piece of you is immortal, believe it and Be Happy in Jesus!
Paul wrote about our need to work on becoming more Christ-like every day for the rest of our lives, because our immortal soul has been directed toward heaven, through grace and mercy not through good deeds we have done! Therefore, since we have these promises, dear friends, let us purify ourselves from everything that contaminates body and spirit, perfecting holiness out of reverence for God. (2 Corinthians 7:1). We are promised heaven because of what Jesus Christ did in our behalf, there is no other Way by which our immortal soul will end up in heaven, when heaven is ready for you!
Paul warns believers about taking pride in our salvation and then boasting about our decision to become a follower of Jesus Christ. Neither do we go beyond our limits by boasting of work done by others. Our hope is that, as your faith continues to grow, our area of activity among you will greatly expand, so that we can preach the gospel in the regions beyond you. For we do not want to boast about work already done in another man’s territory. But, “Let the one who boasts boast in the Lord.” For it is not the one who commends himself who is approved, but the one whom the Lord commends. (2 Corinthians 10:15-18).
Living in this cursed world yet still sifting through all the false teaching about salvation and electing to become a follower of Jesus Christ, does put you in a select group and a minority group in this world. It can be easy to become proud of your ability to make this soul saving choice. Solomon wrote about how God had blessed him with superior intelligence so he could lead God’s Chosen people!
In his book of Proverbs Solomon wrote about some dangers of taking pride in ourselves instead of thanking God for blessing us. To fear the LORD is to hate evil; I hate pride and arrogance, evil behavior and perverse speech. (Proverbs 8:13). In our world today “perverse speech” especially in celebrities seems to be expected and maybe even honored. Do not copy such a disregard for using positive and encouraging speech in your everyday conversations. Showing personal pride can also tend to “breeds quarrels” and therefore, should be avoided in everyday conversations. Solomon wrote, “Pride only breeds quarrels, but wisdom is found in those who take advice.” (Proverbs 13:10). Being open to advice is a good learning mode in all conversations, you can learn a lot by being open to advice.
When we are speaking to anyone, and especially if we find ourselves in a heated conversation to try to temper our next retort to thinking about, What would Jesus Say?
