The Battle Between Good And Evil In This Cursed World Can Only Be Handled By Each Person Being Born Again Through Faith In Jesus Christ!
John 20:28-29 (NIV)
Thomas said to him, "My Lord and my God!" Then Jesus told him, "Because you have seen me, you have believed; blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed."
In this world if you have chosen to follow some god or entity other than the God of the Bible, then there is no choice but to “believe what you see,” because all such entities are existing on this earth and they are bound by the desire of the true God of our Bible. If you have chosen to follow Jesus Christ, then you can, “believe without seeing!” Jesus told Thomas that there would be people who believe in Jesus but have never seen Him! To such people Jesus said, “blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed."
This world became a temporary place where God allows mankind to control and maintain the essentials for life to exist and flourish within the confines of everyday life, with Jesus Christ maintaining the basic structure to allow life to flourish in this world. When mankind does such a poor job of maintaining this cursed world, God then may choose to step in and take back control. The worldwide Flood is one example of the re-start of the world and thus to repopulate it again!
When Eve and Adam were tricked by the serpent in the Garden of Eden this earth was changed from a heavenly place, where they knew only good. "You will not surely die," the serpent said to the woman. "For God knows that when you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil." (Genesis 3:4-5). It seemed true what Satan told Eve, because she did not immediately die! Of course, we now know that Eve started to die at that moment, and the curse of death was bought into reality, and she was given a sinful nature, which would be passed on to all future children!
Eve gave the forbidden fruit to Adam and he ate it too. Then Adam also immediately received a sinful nature, and he, since he knew better became the parent who would then pass on a sinful nature to all human babies from then on as long as this earth exists. When God came to visit Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden. Then the man and his wife heard the sound of the LORD God as he was walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and they hid from the LORD God among the trees of the garden. But the LORD God called to the man, "Where are you?" He answered, "I heard you in the garden, and I was afraid because I was naked; so I hid." And he said, "Who told you that you were naked? Have you eaten from the tree from which I commanded you not to eat?" (Genesis 3:8-11).
Notice here how God seems unaware of what they have done as God askes, “Have you eaten from the tree from which I commanded you not to eat?" This response makes me believe that God has allowed these human beings to govern themselves, and then, when they chose to sin by ignoring God’s command, they were thus punished and were no longer acceptable to continue to live in this first heaven God/Jesus had created for us!
When Jesus came into this world, everything changed, God no longer intervenes into this cursed world and starts it over to fix what mankind has messed up! This is now sometimes called the end times, and this world is no longer being saved by God for later habitation by followers of Jesus Christ! During this time only the followers of Jesus Christ will be taken from this earth and placed in a heavenly holding place until this earths replacement referred to as the new earth, AKA heaven.
Paul wrote about an event we refer to as Rapture! For the Lord himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will be with the Lord for ever. (1 Thessalonians 4:16-17). So, as we can read the believers who are still living on this earth will be taken to a heavenly place to reside there with Jesus Christ.
When the Rapture is completed only people living in this cursed world will be those who do not believe Jesus Christ is their Lord and Savior. At that time all the people still living on this earth will be destined to end up in the lake of fire, when this earth will be destroyed by fire.
All those still living when Jesus returns for the millennial period will have another chance for their salvation, and that will occur on this earth. Here is a report of that time from Revelation. And I saw an angel coming down out of heaven, having the key to the Abyss and holding in his hand a great chain. He seized the dragon, that ancient serpent, who is the devil, or Satan, and bound him for a thousand years. He threw him into the Abyss, and locked and sealed it over him, to keep him from deceiving the nations any more until the thousand years were ended. After that, he must be set free for a short time. I saw thrones on which were seated those who had been given authority to judge. And I saw the souls of those who had been beheaded because of their testimony for Jesus and because of the word of God. They had not worshipped the beast or his image and had not received his mark on their foreheads or their hands. They came to life and reigned with Christ for a thousand years. (The rest of the dead did not come to life until the thousand years were ended.) This is the first resurrection. Blessed and holy are those who have part in the first resurrection. The second death has no power over them, but they will be priests of God and of Christ and will reign with him for a thousand years.
I believe God gave us a book that if we study it and understand it well enough it gives us the best way for us to lead our life in this world that Jesus Created and maintains for us. Paul passed this information on to Timothy in several different letters and teaching courses. Paul wrote, All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work. (2 Timothy 3:16). Are you taking advantage of this gift from God by studying your Bible?
Studying your Bible is a good idea, but as James tells us it is of little value if we read it, but then we do not do what it teaches us. Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says. (James 1:22). I believe that as each human baby is born into this world, God instills some basic ideas of how they should know right from wrong, even though they also inherit a sinful nature from that first or original sin committed in this cursed world!
