Can You Tell Someone About Who Jesus Is, And That Salvation Is Only Available Through Him?
Matthew 22:37-40 (NIV)
Jesus replied: "‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments."
Jesus was asked “Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?” He replied with the answer used today for the selected verses. In our world today most people would not respond with the answer Jesus gave. Jesus answered this question over two thousand years ago, but it seems in in our world today, most people would not react positively to this response Jesus gave. Of course. most people do not identify with the Commandments Jesus was referring to in His answer. Even people who profess to be Christians do not attempt to follow the Ten Commandments, or for that matter even know them. Of course, other worldly religions do not know or intend to follow these commandments. How about you, do you try to abide by the Commandments from God? Do you intentionally break laws every day? When you drive do you go the speed limit? Most of the time I drive at or near the posted speed limit, and I am an impedance to most of the other drivers on the road I am travelling.
We live in a world where there remains so called racial bias, which often presents itself in violent actions against people who look different than the person doing the viewing. To see true unbiased love being shown toward other people who look different than the person doing the viewing, is extremely unusual. This is true whether you view people who profess to be Christians or other people who do not claim to be Christians. Some Christians do show some tendency to not be openly show racial bias. Yet we read what Jesus Christ taught and His followers are supposed to “Love your neighbor as yourself.” So, who is your neighbor?
Jesus made it even more difficult for us to ever profess dislike or even hatred toward other members of mankind. "If you love those who love you, what credit is that to you? Even ‘sinners’ love those who love them. And if you do good to those who are good to you, what credit is that to you? Even ‘sinners’ do that. And if you lend to those from whom you expect repayment, what credit is that to you? Even ‘sinners’ lend to ‘sinners’, expecting to be repaid in full. But love your enemies, do good to them, and lend to them without expecting to get anything back. Then your reward will be great, and you will be sons of the Most High, because he is kind to the ungrateful and wicked. Be merciful, just as your Father is merciful. (Luke 6:32-36).
Jesus is telling us who profess to be Christians that we are to be different than we were before we chose to become followers of Jesus Christ! If you claim to be a follower of Jesus Christ, then you should have changed, and you should now be capable of following the Commands given to us by God! How are you doing with this responsibility? This country became great because we the people were influenced by following the Commands God gave us through the Bible. According to God’s Bible there are no such thing as races of people, as we are all descendants of the sons and daughters-in-law of Noah. Yes, we are all brothers and sister through birth, and we all have the same color of skin. Some skin is darker in color, because it has more melanin in it which makes it darker. So, there are only brown skinned people, just some have more brown color in their skin. There are NO black, white, red, and yellow people in this cursed world.
Yes, I do realize this commentary has become a rant, but I am not going to apologize for the content, because I believe it does follow God’s Commands as given to us by God in our Bible. Those who profess to be followers of Jesus Christ need to adhere to the commands to, “Love your neighbor as yourself.” Our neighbor is every member of mankind, as we are all children of God, and we are all related as we are all part of the one race of people called the human race.
No, true followers of Jesus Christ should not have an attitude of being superior to other people, as we are all sinners, and all fall short of loving others as Jesus has commanded us to do. Paul wrote about this for us. Your attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus: Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be grasped, but made himself nothing, taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness. And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself and became obedient to death—even death on a cross! (Philippians 2:5-8). Thinking you are better than everyone else, MUST include Jesus in the other people category too. Are you really a better person than Jesus is?
Be careful how you review other people, as they too have been created by God, and we all have the opportunity to know about Jesus Christ. people who trust in the god of their worldly religion will not be capable of going to heaven when they die. John wrote about this for us who read our Bible. This is how you can recognize the Spirit of God: Every spirit that acknowledges that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God, but every spirit that does not acknowledge Jesus is not from God. This is the spirit of the antichrist, which you have heard is coming and even now is already in the world. (1 John 4:2-3). Remember, we have been commanded to tell those who are lost about the accounts in our Bible that supply evidence about who Jesus is and about how they can become His followers.
Now to close this commentary with the command Jesus left us His followers, about how we need to point other members of mankind toward Jesus, so they too can be saved and go to heaven, when they die and pass from this mortal life. Then the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain where Jesus had told them to go. When they saw him, they worshipped him; but some doubted. Then Jesus came to them and said, "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age." (Matthew 28:16-20).
Can you tell someone about who Jesus is, and that salvation is only available through Him? This is God’s plan for salvation, it is the only salvation plan God supplied to mankind! All other plans have been created by a member of mankind, and these plans are not honored by God the Father! Believe it and you will be saved!
