Are You Ready To Fly To Heaven With Jesus?
Romans 8:29 (NIV)
For those God foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the likeness of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brothers.
Adam was the first or beginning of mankind, and Jesus came into this cursed world as the new beginning of mankind. So, since Jesus is the new Adam, mankind got a start over allowing those who follow Him to become a new creation. At this time God had made it known that all members of mankind were now included in the numbers of those who could avoid going to hell when they die! Thus, all followers of Jesus Christ will leave this world to forever be with God in heaven. Prior to this only the chosen people could be saved from being separated from God for all eternity.
This then is the predestination which Paul is referring to in the selected verse! That is, that now all followers of Jesus Christ can be offered salvation, not just the chosen people before Jesus came into this world. Before Jesus came into this world as the new One and Only Savior the only means for salvation was offered only to God’s chosen people. Now all those who choose to follow Jesus Christ are the chosen people. Now we must choose to be followers Jesus Christ to be included in the family of God.
Some people have come to believe in predestination as that only those who God has chosen can be saved, but this changed when Jesus Christ came into this world as now the people are not chosen as in the Old Testament, but now we must choose to be followers. This makes it become a personal choice, and All members of mankind are now included. When we chose Jesus Christ as our Savior, we become the children of God. Predestination ended when Jesus Christ came into this world.
If predestination were true, then no one could ever know their salvation is guaranteed, as the way it was in Old Testament times. Now we can know our immortal soul will be saved, because our salvation hinges completely on what Jesus did for us, and not contingent upon anything we can do! The only requirement for salvation is for us to become followers of Jesus Christ. No one has been prechosen so to speak! We must choose to follow Jesus Christ to have our immortal soul be selected to go to heaven when we die!
Even the chosen people did not know for sure that they were saved, because they had to follow the laws God had given, and they had to offer sacrifices to pay for atoning or forgiving of their sins. If they did not follow exactly the laws of God or did not offer the proper sacrifices their immortal souls would not have been saved. Paul wrote about this change that Jesus coming made in the salvation plan. For there is no difference between Jew and Gentile—the same Lord is Lord of all and richly blesses all who call on him, for, "Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved." (Romans 10:12-13). Now "Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved."
Paul wrote about this change from now on everyone can become chosen by choosing to follow Jesus Christ as we are immediately changed, and we are no more a worldly being, but we are changed into the immortal being God originally intended when He created Adam and Eve. We no longer belong to this mortal fallen world. Our eternal destination is changed, so we no longer belong to this fallen world. So from now on we regard no-one from a worldly point of view. Though we once regarded Christ in this way, we do so no longer. Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come! (2 Corinthians 5:16-17).
We are immediately “born again” into the immortal ranks of those who have been forgiven and thus we become the children of God, as was originally intended. The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God’s children. Now if we are children, then we are heirs—heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ, if indeed we share in his sufferings in order that we may also share in his glory. (Romans 8:16-17). Did you get that about you sharing in Jesus’ glory once you were born again? Jesus immediately becomes your older brother
When Jesus told Nicodemus and us about needing to be born again Nicodemus questioned Jesus about what this meant. In reply Jesus declared, "I tell you the truth, no-one can see the kingdom of God unless he is born again." (John 3:3). Unless you are detached from this cursed world your immortal soul cannot be allowed to finally be in the presence of God. Being born again prepares you for allowing God to view you as He does His Son, as sinless and thus allows you to be with a Holy, Holy, Holy God!
Jesus prayed to God the Father about His disciples and how they (we) are now appearing as sinless, because of what Jesus did in our stead. I have given them the glory that you gave me, that they may be one as we are one: I in them and you in me. May they be brought to complete unity to let the world know that you sent me and have loved them even as you have loved me. "Father, I want those you have given me to be with me where I am, and to see my glory, the glory you have given me because you loved me before the creation of the world. (John 17:22-24). Those who choose to follow Jesus Christ have become part of the family of God. Jesus prayed, “I have given them the glory that you gave me, that they may be one as we are one.”
When a follower of Jesus Christ dies and Jesus comes to show you the Way to where He is, you will see Jesus as He is! Dear friends, now we are children of God, and what we will be has not yet been made known. But we know that when he appears, we shall be like him, for we shall see him as he is. (1 John 3:2). We have been told, when he appears, we shall be like him, for we shall see him as he is.
