Are You Truly In Awe Of God And Thus Clinging To Him For Your Salvation?
Romans 8:31 (NIV)
What, then, shall we say in response to this? If God is for us, who can be against us?
Mankind is often confused about who really is in charge in this cursed world! We often take the word of mankind over the Word of God as contained in the Holy Bible! Do you believe that mankind has been educated to a point where we now know more than the God of the Bible knows? When we fear mankind more than we fear Jesus (hold Him in awe), are we not taking the words of mankind over the Words of God? In the selected verse Paul is telling us how in God’s Word we see that through the love of God we are protected by Him against mankind, when there is disagreement between God and mankind. It says, “If God is for us, who can be against us?” God will be for us if we are first on His side! Are you working on getting to know God/Jesus better in your mortal lifetime?
Paul tells us about this protective love of God that cannot be broken by any unbelieving member(s) of mankind. For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord. (Romans 8:38-39). God’s love is inescapable in this lifetime once you accept your salvation through your faith in Jesus Christ. Read what Solomon wrote about how God will make His love known to you when join with Him and stop basing your life on mankind’s ideas alone. What does the worker gain from his toil? I have seen the burden God has laid on men. He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the hearts of men; yet they cannot fathom what God has done from beginning to end. I know that there is nothing better for men than to be happy and do good while they live. (Ecclesiastes 3:9-11). If you have time read Ecclesiastes 3:1-14, for the rest of the story. Are you striving to do good?
Do you know Jesus? Or do you just know about Jesus? We should be working on becoming more Christ-like every day, so at some point we may know WWJD, when we are tested by mankind! Are we putting our knowledge into practice in our lives? John tells us how to test our resolve and calls us liars if we do not put our faith into action. The man who says, "I know him," but does not do what he commands is a liar, and the truth is not in him. (1 John 2:4). Do you have God’s truth stored in your thoughts? Then John says our faith must always cause us to love other members of mankind. If anyone says, "I love God," yet hates his brother, he is a liar. For anyone who does not love his brother, whom he has seen, cannot love God, whom he has not seen. (1 John 4:20).
As Christians, we should not be fearful, no matter what happens. It is good for us to be reminded of what the prophet Isaiah told the people of his day. The LORD spoke to me with his strong hand upon me, warning me not to follow the way of this people. He said: "Do not call conspiracy everything that these people call conspiracy; do not fear what they fear, and do not dread it. The LORD Almighty is the one you are to regard as holy, he is the one you are to fear, he is the one you are to dread. (Isaiah 8:11–13). In this time, we hear more conspiracy theories every day. No matter whatever someone claims there seems to arise a theory immediately created that questions what has been stated. Many people are being misled by others who do not know the Lord to believe stories that are not true and based on hate instead of love.
Paul wrote for the church in Rome, and for us today, about the need for confession and repentance to obtain righteousness through faith not by observing any law or laws. Moses describes in this way the righteousness that is by the law: "The man who does these things will live by them." But the righteousness that is by faith says: "Do not say in your heart, ‘Who will ascend into heaven?’" (that is, to bring Christ down) "or ‘Who will descend into the deep?’" (that is, to bring Christ up from the dead). But what does it say? "The word is near you; it is in your mouth and in your heart," that is, the word of faith we are proclaiming: That if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved. (Romans 10:5-10).
Jesus Christ died for your sins so, the price of your salvation has been paid for you by Jesus’ suffering, death, and then His resurrection! It is not to angels that he has subjected the world to come, about which we are speaking. But there is a place where someone has testified: "What is man that you are mindful of him, the son of man that you care for him? You made him a little lower than the angels; you crowned him with glory and honor and put everything under his feet." In putting everything under him, God left nothing that is not subject to him. Yet at present we do not see everything subject to him. But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels, now crowned with glory and honor because he suffered death, so that by the grace of God he might taste death for everyone. (Hebrews 2:5-9). Jesus death paved the Way for mankind to be saved “by the grace of God”, even though we are all still sinners.
The only absolutely free gift you can ever receive in this mortal world is the gift of salvation through God’s Grace. A Psalmist wrote about the coming of the Messiah and about the grandeur of God to let us know about this awe-inspiring God who was coming to this earth to set free all those who would humble themselves enough to accept His indescribable gift of total salvation. When I consider your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars, which you have set in place, what is man that you are mindful of him, the son of man that you care for him? You made him a little lower than the heavenly beings and crowned him with glory and honor. You made him ruler over the works of your hands; you put everything under his feet: all flocks and herds, and the beasts of the field, the birds of the air, and the fish of the sea, all that swim the paths of the seas. (Psalm 8:3-8). Are you truly in awe of God and thus clinging to Him for your salvation? Or are you still seeking to find your own salvation path defined for you by some members of mankind?
