So, This Year Resolve To Tell Others What You Believe And Why You Believe It!
1 John 5:5 (NIV)
Who is it that overcomes the world? Only he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God.
Are you an overcomer in this lifetime? We are told that we must live in this cursed world, but we are not to be happy to become part of it. We must be on our guard to avoid coming to love this world, as it is evil, and therefore, not a place where God is willing to reside. A holy, holy, holy God will not live with evil spirits. This world became cursed because the first man and woman sinned by breaking the one command they were given by God! Then since man came to know evil, we were all effected by that knowledge of evil, and thus we were no longer allowed to live forever on this earth. God shielded mankind from the tree of life, so we could no longer live forever on this earth! The LORD God made garments of skin for Adam and his wife and clothed them. And the LORD God said, "The man has now become like one of us, knowing good and evil. He must not be allowed to reach out his hand and take also from the tree of life and eat, and live for ever." So the LORD God banished him from the Garden of Eden to work the ground from which he had been taken. After he drove the man out, he placed on the east side of the Garden of Eden cherubim and a flaming sword flashing back and forth to guard the way to the tree of life. (Genesis 3:21-24). The first death occurred when God killed two animals to make clothing for Adam and Eve! This also showed Adam and Eve what death looked like!
So now let us skip from the beginning to the new beginning, when Jesus will reestablish mankind’s ability to have access to the tree of life, and therefore, continue the eternal life of their immortal souls. John wrote about his experience of being allowed to see into the future of Mankind, of those who have overcome on this cursed earth. Then the angel showed me the river of the water of life, as clear as crystal, flowing from the throne of God and of the Lamb down the middle of the great street of the city. On each side of the river stood the tree of life, bearing twelve crops of fruit, yielding its fruit every month. And the leaves of the tree are for the healing of the nations. No longer will there be any curse. The throne of God and of the Lamb will be in the city, and his servants will serve him. They will see his face, and his name will be on their foreheads. There will be no more night. They will not need the light of a lamp or the light of the sun, for the Lord God will give them light. And they will reign for ever and ever. (Revelation 22:1-5). So, here mankind is reinstated to be allowed to again live forever with Jesus. The angel said to me, "These words are trustworthy and true. The Lord, the God of the spirits of the prophets, sent his angel to show his servants the things that must soon take place." "Behold, I am coming soon! Blessed is he who keeps the words of the prophecy in this book." (Revelation 22:6-7).
Believe it, Jesus is coming soon! As He will immediately come and get His followers, when they die to their mortal life on this earth, and their spirit is then reunited with Him in the Garden of Eden. Jesus has prepared a place for us, His followers, John wrote what Jesus said about this plan for us! "Do not let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God; trust also in me. In my Father’s house are many rooms; if it were not so, I would have told you. I am going there to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am. (John 14:1-3). Did you get that Jesus has prepared a place in heaven for you, he did it immediately when you claimed Him as your Lord and Savior!
So, if believers have a place reserved for them in heaven to be with Jesus forever, what should you do in this mortal lifetime? Jesus has told us also that His followers have a light that shines before mankind. In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven. (Matthew 5:16). Does your light shine and light the way to heaven for others you meet in this lifetime? Do you know that you were called by Jesus to enjoy salvation, and when you accepted this call you obtained power to influence other people to believe in Jesus as their Savior too! And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose. (Romans 8:28). Paul wrote about praying for others who make up the Body of Christ. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the saints. (Ephesians 6:17-18). Remember all Christians have been called to salvation on a personal level. We have been called to tell those who have not yet accepted the call of the Lord. We are to tell them how our life has improved by having Jesus in it! In this new year are you planning to tell others why you believe? This would be a great resolution!
We need to ask Jesus to help us to appear as being knowledgeable when we try to help others find Jesus. Paul wrote about how in everything we need to align with God by praying for His help. Please remember that Jesus left the Holy Spirit behind on this earth to assist all believers. Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. (Philippians 4:6-7). Note, what Paul is pointing out about being in a prayerful mood by always giving thanks to God for our salvation that was bought with the shed blood of Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior. Tell someone about Jesus this year! Jesus used the story of Jonah to affirm His story of being dead for three days, and then arising from the dead to confirm His Lordship. I think Jesus used this story, as many believers doubt that it really happened! For as Jonah was three days and three nights in the belly of a huge fish, so the Son of Man will be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth. (Matthew 12:40). Be careful every day to never disbelieve a Bible story, because someone doubts it happened.
All the Bible is God Word and thus is the ONLY absolute truth that is available on this cursed earth. Jesus warns us about trying to change His Word as He told John to write in Revelation.
I warn everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this book: If anyone adds anything to them, God will add to him the plagues described in this book. And if anyone takes words away from this book of prophecy, God will take away from him his share in the tree of life and in the holy city, which are described in this book. He who testifies to these things says, "Yes, I am coming soon." Amen. Come, Lord Jesus. The grace of the Lord Jesus be with God’s people. Amen. (Revelation 22:18-21. Every member of mankind is a sinner, and prone to lying, so why would you desire to change God’s Word to allow your lifestyle that disagrees with Scripture? Why would you ever be proud of a lifestyle that is referred to as sinful by God’s Word?
Resolve this year to try to avoid sinful situations, and instead cling to the grace of salvation which Jesus Christ purchased for you! So, this year resolve to tell others what you believe and why you believe it!
