The Only Way To Overcome The Evils Of This Cursed World Is To Believe That Jesus Christ Is The Son Of God!
John 12:28-30 (NIV)
Father, glorify your name!" Then a voice came from heaven, "I have glorified it, and will glorify it again." The crowd that was there and heard it said it had thundered; others said an angel had spoken to him. Jesus said, "This voice was for your benefit, not mine.
This is the last of three remarkable occasions during the earthly ministry of Christ when God the Father spoke directly from heaven concerning His only begotten Son. The first was at His baptism. As soon as Jesus was baptized, he went up out of the water. At that moment heaven was opened, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and lighting on him. And a voice from heaven said, "This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased." (Matthew 3:16-17). This testimony was given primarily to the forerunner, John the Baptist, who said, “I would not have known him, except that the one who sent me to baptize with water told me, ‘The man on whom you see the Spirit come down and remain is he who will baptize with the Holy Spirit.’ I have seen and I testify that this is the Son of God." (John 1:33-34).
The second was to three chosen disciples at the transfiguration. While he was still speaking, a bright cloud enveloped them, and a voice from the cloud said, "This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased. Listen to him!" (Matthew 17:5).
Peter also wrote about the transfiguration. We did not follow cleverly invented stories when we told you about the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but we were eye-witnesses of his majesty. For he received honor and glory from God the Father when the voice came to him from the Majestic Glory, saying, "This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased." We ourselves heard this voice that came from heaven when we were with him on the sacred mountain. (2 Peter 1:16-18).
Finally, the Father spoke in the words of the selected verses in direct response to the prayer of His Son at the beginning of the final week before His crucifixion. The message was to His Son but for the people. Jesus said, "This voice was for your benefit, not mine.” (John 12:30) as Jesus spoke of His imminent death on the cross.
When God spoke from heaven, the message was to assure and encourage His own dear ones: John, the disciples, and Jesus Himself. But it has also become an exhortation to all people for all time. Jesus Christ is God’s Son, and God is glorified in Him.
Many people today wonder if Jesus Christ was truly God coming to this earth as the Son of God! Some such people may share a pew with you on a given Sunday. Following are some testimonies from people who either lived with Jesus, or they were convicted by Jesus Christ, who is the Son of God, please believe it!
Saul who was persecuting the early Christian church, was convicted by Jesus and became Paul one of the most prolific Bible writers. After Paul was struct down and temporarily blinded, through an encounter with Jesus Christ he was dramatically changed. Immediately, something like scales fell from Saul’s eyes, and he could see again. He got up and was baptized, and after taking some food, he regained his strength. Saul spent several days with the disciples in Damascus. At once he began to preach in the synagogues that Jesus is the Son of God. (Acts 9:18-20).
The Apostle John who lived and witnessed with Jesus for three years wrote the following. And we have seen and testify that the Father has sent his Son to be the Savior of the world. If anyone acknowledges that Jesus is the Son of God, God lives in him and he in God. (1 John 4:14-15). This is love for God: to obey his commands. And his commands are not burdensome, for everyone born of God overcomes the world. This is the victory that has overcome the world, even our faith. Who is it that overcomes the world? Only he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God. (1 John 5:3-5).
The only way to overcome the evils of this cursed world is to believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, and thus, Jesus came into this world to save lost sinners! Every human being is born with a sinful nature; thus, we are all sinners. The only Way for sinners to go to heaven when we die is to become believers and to follow Jesus Christ! Believe it, and your immortal soul will spend eternity with Jesus!
