If You Tell The Truth The Result Is The Best Thing That Could Happen!
John 8:31-32 (NIV)
To the Jews who had believed him, Jesus said, "If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples. Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free."
In this world today it is extremely difficult to identify the truth. There are so many people offering their version of a truth. Every day you may be exposed to two opinions with opposite views, both claiming to be the truth. Of course, two opposite views cannot both be true. Most people hope their ideas about their surroundings are in fact true, and this can lead them to accept views they really know are not true to somehow become true.
Some people seek to avoid the truth by staying medicated or by escaping with the help of recreational drugs and/or alcohol. Jesus Christ offers a much better choice to help you find a form of peace in this world. To those who choose to believe Him, Jesus says, "If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples. Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free." If you desire to become “high”, do it by getting your boast from Jesus, because He is always available both day and night! I have tried some of both, and thus do attest that Jesus is the only true continuous answer for being able to attain a lasting peace in this cursed world!
Immediately after Jesus gave His new followers the message in the selected verses, those who were not convinced of who Jesus is wanted to rebut what Jesus said. They answered him, "We are Abraham’s descendants and have never been slaves of anyone. How can you say that we shall be set free?" Jesus replied, "I tell you the truth, everyone who sins is a slave to sin. Now a slave has no permanent place in the family, but a son belongs to it for ever. So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed. (John 8:33-36). Note what Jesus said here about how believing in Him causes you to then be included in the family of God!
About this family of God that Jesus taught about in this encounter, does this message entice you to consider being an active member of such a group. These groups of believers are commonly referred to as churches. Are you an active member of the Body of Christ that meets every week in a church building? If not, you are missing the best stimulant available on this cursed world today! You cannot worship God/Jesus properly on your own, Jesus told us this several times, we can read about in the Bible. Here is one time Jesus told us. "Again, I tell you that if two of you on earth agree about anything you ask for, it will be done for you by my Father in heaven. For where two or three come together in my name, there am I with them." (Matthew 18:19-20).
If the church of your choice has two or more people attending it on the sabbath day then you can enjoy the comradery and more importantly, you can worship together with the other members of your family, which includes your brother named Jesus. Jesus promised this, as we just read when Jesus said, “For where two or three come together in my name, there am I with them." Would you like to associate with Jesus Christ? His church is not the building it is His followers! Who are also His family members!
Jesus told His disciples about the mission that He was fulfilling on this earth and that He had been sent here on a mission of mercy by God the Father, who sent Him out of love for all human beings. In that day you will ask in my name. I am not saying that I will ask the Father on your behalf. No, the Father himself loves you because you have loved me and have believed that I came from God. I came from the Father and entered the world; now I am leaving the world and going back to the Father." Then Jesus’ disciples said, "Now you are speaking clearly and without figures of speech. Now we can see that you know all things and that you do not even need to have anyone ask you questions. This makes us believe that you came from God." "You believe at last!" Jesus answered. (John 16:26-31).
Who is Father God? There is confusion in this world about that, as the worldly religions have created their own god or gods. The only true God is the God of the Bible. Here is a description of God from Isaiah. I am the LORD, and there is no other; apart from me there is no God. I will strengthen you, though you have not acknowledged me, so that from the rising of the sun to the place of its setting men may know there is none besides me. I am the LORD, and there is no other. (Isaiah 45:5-6).
God/Jesus is the Creator of everything we see and experience in this world today. I form the light and create darkness, I bring prosperity and create disaster; I, the LORD, do all these things. "You heavens above, rain down righteousness; let the clouds shower it down. Let the earth open wide, let salvation spring up, let righteousness grow with it; I, the LORD, have created it. (Isaiah 45:7-8).
Here God wants us to believe He is who He says He is! Most of the people on this earth today, do not believe in the God of the Bible or that Jesus Christ is the Savior of this world! "Woe to him who quarrels with his Maker, to him who is but a potsherd among the potsherds on the ground. Does the clay say to the potter, ‘What are you making?’ Does your work say, ‘He has no hands’? Woe to him who says to his father, ‘What have you begotten?’ or to his mother, ‘What have you brought to birth?’ (Isaiah 45:9-10).
Here God is telling us that God/Jesus created the entire universe and Jesus maintains it until He returns. "This is what the LORD says—the Holy One of Israel, and its Maker: Concerning things to come, do you question me about my children, or give me orders about the work of my hands? It is I who made the earth and created mankind upon it. My own hands stretched out the heavens; I marshalled their starry hosts. (Isaiah 45:11-12). All life comes from God, He says when it starts, and only He says when it ends.
Jesus is asking all of us, do "You believe at last!"
