To Those Who—Have Received A Faith As Precious As Ours: Grace And Peace Be Yours In Abundance.
Jude 1:17-19 (NIV)
But, dear friends, remember what the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ foretold. They said to you, "In the last times there will be scoffers who will follow their own ungodly desires." These are the men who divide you, who follow mere natural instincts and do not have the Spirit.
There are many dogmatic belief’s that divide the Christian denominations in this day in age, or should I say, “In the last times?” Actually if you have read the Bible you know there have always been disagreements that have splintered the so called “Body of Christ.” However, in my opinion there is great danger in seeing Christianity being exterminated, if possible, in the world as we know it? Persecution of Christians is to some degree already a reality. It seems the Political Correctness movement has caused most USA residence to change their worldview to no longer tolerate the Christian agenda.
Our children and grandchildren are being taught evolution as fact in all public schools, and even, in many so called Christian schools. Evolution tells a completely different story than what the Bible teaches about the origins of this universe. The violence and unrest in the USA is causing too many of our citizens to turn to drugs, alcohol and sex, as they have lost hope of a better lifestyle. Therefore, they are turning away from a god they do not believe in to get relief from their problems in a bottle, or through marijuana, or a syringe. This hopeless feeling is not limited to poor people, in fact since it is an expensive habit it is experienced more by people who can afford it!
If you have read the VOW for a while, you will likely agree the statements written above are not normal for one of these commentaries. I feel strongly that the USA, and also, the rest of this world is heading for some disastrous times, which are hopefully occurring as “In the last times” This message is an attempt to get those reading it to first of all, pray for Jesus to come back soon to Rapture away His followers. If it is not the end times, then pray that there is a huge revival around this world started by all the true believers.
Jesus told His followers why He came into this world. Jesus also made it very clear that He is the only Savior that God sent into this world. However, the worldly people must accept Jesus as their Lord and Savior in order to be saved from those “last days!” For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because he has not believed in the name of God’s one and only Son. (John 3:17-18) Have you accepted Jesus as your Lord and Savior? If you answered yes, then you have been commanded by Jesus to go tell His story to all those you come into contact.
If we, the followers of Jesus Christ do not go out into this world and tell everyone we can the Good News story, then the Body of Christ will continue to flee this great hope, and will be lost eventually to the torment of hell. Then Jesus came to them and said, "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age." (Matthew 28:18-20)
Peter tells this story to anyone who would read it, and believe it, that Jesus was that perfect sacrifice needed to redeem all those who would claim their salvation through Him. For Christ died for sins once for all, the righteous for the unrighteous, to bring you to God. He was put to death in the body but made alive by the Spirit, through whom also he went and preached to the spirits in prison who disobeyed long ago when God waited patiently in the days of Noah while the ark was being built. In it only a few people, eight in all, were saved through water, and this water symbolizes baptism that now saves you also—not the removal of dirt from the body but the pledge of a good conscience towards God. It saves you by the resurrection of Jesus Christ, who has gone into heaven and is at God’s right hand—with angels, authorities and powers in submission to him. (1 Peter 3:18-22)
For those of you reading this that have been convinced that there was no Flood of Noah that covered the whole earth, please note that Peter did believe it happened! Did God give us this story to confuse us, if so, it apparently did not confuse Peter. As the selected verses from Jude tells us. "In the last times there will be scoffers who will follow their own ungodly desires." These are the men who divide you, who follow mere natural instincts and do not have the Spirit. If you possess the Spirit, or should I say, if the Holy Spirit resides in you, He will clarify such confusing issues, and keep you on that narrow path that will lead you back to Jesus.
If you have accepted the salvation offered you by Jesus Christ, then let us close this VOW with opening comments made by Peter, when he wrote about his firsthand experiences as a follower, literally a follower of Jesus Christ. Simon Peter, a servant and apostle of Jesus Christ, To those who through the righteousness of our God and Savior Jesus Christ have received a faith as precious as ours: Grace and peace be yours in abundance through the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord. (2 Peter 1:1-2) Accept this calming knowledge of your ultimate salvation which allows you to experience, as Peter wrote, “To those who— have received a faith as precious as ours: Grace and peace be yours in abundance.”
