Would Your Faith Save You, Or Heal Your Body?
John 11:39-40 (NIV)
"Take away the stone," he said. "But, Lord," said Martha, the sister of the dead man, "by this time there is a bad odor, for he has been there four days." Then Jesus said, "Did I not tell you that if you believed, you would see the glory of God?"
Jesus said, “Did I not tell you that if you believed, you would see the glory of God!" Do you believe that if Jesus were here on this earth today, He would grant your wishes? No, this is not meant to compare the real Jesus to a make-believe Genie! At the Answers in Genesis Creation Museum, you read and hear the term, Prepare to Believe!” Are you prepared to believe what the Bible plainly tells us about how and when Jesus created everything you see in this lifetime? Mankind has several different stories to try to explain everything you see, and how and when it all came to be. Most of the members of mankind do NOT believe that Jesus Christ is the Way, and the only way to end up in heaven, when you leave this lifetime. Many do not even believe there is such a place as heaven, and therefore, they have no concern about trying to go there when they die!
Jesus told us about the two paths that every member of mankind will follow, when they die and leave this cursed world. Jesus was likening this following to how sheep will follow the person, whose voice they recognize, as the one to follow during their lifetime. "Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it.” Watch out for false prophets. They come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ferocious wolves. (Matthew 7:13-15). Everyone who does not follow Jesus in this lifetime is destined to follow their earthly leader into hell, which is described by Jesus as, “For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it.” As you can see, Jesus knew that more people will follow the wrong leader during their lifetime on this earth!
Jesus also made it clear that He believed that far fewer people would choose to follow Him, when He said,” small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it.” This is a difficult teaching, at least it is difficult for me to accept that most people will end up in hell, because they did not choose to follow Jesus toward heaven! It seems Satan is winning the battle for souls through the earthly false leaders who are taking their followers directly to hell, where they are destined to end up too! Think about this situation, and try to be brave enough to tell someone you know or love, who may not believe Jesus is the One and Only Way to follow to heaven at the end of their lifetime.
We must believe there is only one Way to be followed to end up in heaven. Hopefully, everyone reading this commentary believes there is only one God and One Way to heaven. James wrote something that seems very interesting to me, when he wrote about who believes in only one God, but does not believe Jesus is the only Way to follow. You believe that there is one God. Good! Even the demons believe that—and shudder. (James 2:19). The demons - shudder because they recognized the power of God, and they hold Him in awe. Are you in awe of the Holy, Holy, Holy God? Do you hold God in great awe, or do you presume to dictate to Him, who you believe should be allowed to go to heaven, when they die? If God is for us who can be against us? Please believe it, you MUST follow Jesus in this life to end up in heaven.
Okay, your faith can and will save you, but what about healing while still in this lifetime? When Jesus healed someone while He still walked this earth, He usually said something like "your faith has healed you."
Following are some of these incidents where Jesus healed someone.
Jesus turned and saw her. "Take heart, daughter," he said, "your faith has healed you." And the woman was healed from that moment. (Matthew 9:22)
He said to her, "Daughter, your faith has healed you. Go in peace and be freed from your suffering." (Mark 5:34)
"Go," said Jesus, "your faith has healed you." Immediately he received his sight and followed Jesus along the road. (Mark 10:52)
Jesus said to the woman, "Your faith has saved you; go in peace." (Luke 7:50)
Then he said to her, "Daughter, your faith has healed you. Go in peace." (Luke 8:48)
Then he said to him, "Rise and go; your faith has made you well." (Luke 17:19)
Jesus said to him, "Receive your sight; your faith has healed you." (Luke 18:42)
Would your faith heal you in this lifetime? Please remember, not everyone will be healed, as we already know, no one escapes this lifetime without first dying! The curse of death brought on by the entry of sin into this then perfect world, has robbed us of immortality while living on this current world! However, also remember that God has breathed into all members of mankind the breath of life, thus our soul is still immortal, and it does not die when we leave this lifetime. It lives on and will again live in the new world, where there is no death or suffering. Your ticket to that wonderful place was purchased for by Jesus when He died for your sins on that cross, as the perfect sacrifice. Everyone who does not have this ticket will go to hell when they die! Nothing you can do in this lifetime will save, your soul is destined to go to hell.
All you must do is accept His sacrifice by believing He died for your sins, and you will be saved! Now that is an offer you cannot refuse! However, you MUST believe it is a real offer! Healing is good, but salvation is the absolute truth and the Good News! Don’t worry, be happy!
