Jesus Is Always The Answer To The Question, Why Am I Here In This World Today?
James 3:13 (NIV)
Who is wise and understanding among you? Let them show it by their good life, by deeds done in the humility that comes from wisdom.
Work hard and learn a trade so you can earn a good living and be proud of your accomplishments! Some reading this may have heard such a pep talk from their parents, friends, or relatives sometime in their life. I know I have had such advice given! The people giving such advice were practicing Christians, at least they were in my past. Taking pride for our accomplishments is not really a Christian attitude, as we should believe that everything, we have in given to us by God. It is certainly not wrong to feel good about what we may accomplish by working, but we should be giving the glory for the good results to the Lord!
James wrote about how a believer should do good deeds because they feel compelled to do so, because of acknowledging the gift of their salvation. All who profess to believe Jesus Christ is the Messiah will have their immortal souls saved, and thus, we should want to help our brothers and sisters, if they are in need of some form of help. As James wrote in the selected verses, “Let them show it by their good life, by deeds done in the humility that comes from wisdom. “Note, here James instructs us to do this not through pride, but through an act of humility!
Paul wrote about how Christians should think about other people too. Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others. (Philippians 2:3-4). Notice how Paul is including other believers in these comments where he wrote “but each of you to the interests of the others.” Of course, Paul was writing this letter to the church in Phillipi, and of course we are trying to put this type of thought into our world today!
In Paul’s letter to the church in Ephesus, he emphasizes the need for believers (us) to try to build “others up according to their needs.” Please note here that we should be concerned about the needs of others when we have been blessed by God with the ability to help. Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen. (Ephesians 4:29). Instead of being proud of what wealth we have amassed by our hard work, we should consider what we have a blessing from God, and thus, not really our own!
Paul wrote about how the Gentiles were included in the blessing promised to the Jews, mostly because the religious leaders of the Jews did not recognize Jesus Christ to be the promised Messiah. However, this was prophesized in Old Testament times in our Scriptures. Accept one another, then, just as Christ accepted you, in order to bring praise to God. For I tell you that Christ has become a servant of the Jews on behalf of God’s truth, to confirm the promises made to the patriarchs so that the Gentiles may glorify God for his mercy, as it is written: "Therefore I will praise you among the Gentiles; I will sing hymns to your name." (Romans 15:7-9).
James the earthly brother of Jesus wrote for us about how careful we should be not to use bad language in describing other human beings, as we were all created in the image and likeness of God. With the tongue we praise our Lord and Father, and with it we curse men, who have been made in God’s likeness. Out of the same mouth come praise and cursing. My brothers, this should not be. (James 3:9-10). In this cursed world today, we hear more and more people who are willing to curse other people, even worse, many people now seem willing to harm or kill anyone who disagrees with them, even on simple issues, like who had the right-of-way on the road we are driving on!
Today in the USA if you are not aborted before you can be born, because abortion on demand is still possible right up to the time you would have been born, then you may be shot dead by someone who just feels the need to shoot as many people as they can before they are apprehended or killed! Yes, it is in this world where believers must feel compelled to help other human beings who have a need for our help! You, as a believer may be the closest being that people may meet who will appear to them as a savior, at least someone willing to feed them and care about their life in this cursed world. No, you are not the Christ who can save their immortal soul, but maybe you can help them to survive to give them the chance to believe in the real Savior.
Jesus is always the answer to the question, why am I here in this world today? Jesus says you are here to express His love for all of mankind, as we are all created, given life, so we can claim our salvation through His perfect sacrifice, as the Son of Man. We are all created in the image and likeness of Jesus, it is contained in your immortal soul. Thank you, Jesus! Amen!
