When Your Lifetime Ends, Jesus Will Come Back To Get Your Immortal Soul And Take It Back With Him To Heaven! Now That Is Truly The Good News!
Philippians 4:6-7 (NIV)
Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
In our world today it is difficult to maintain a positive viewpoint, as we are bombarded with negative thoughts in most of the news reports. In the USA today it seems everyone has their own idea about how this world should be run, and it does not compare to anybody else’s ideas. If you are a professing Christian, and you believe what the Bible teaches about why we are here in this world today, then you cannot understand why most other people seem to think there is no God who loves them and is in control of life as we know it!
Paul wrote to the church in Philippi, and those willing to accept it, about our ability to “Rejoice in the Lord always.” Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. (Philippians 4:4-5). Can you still identify an ability to rejoice always? Jesus when He still walked this earth as a man, often went away from the people to pray for support and understanding from His an Our Father in heaven. Are you, are we, stronger than Jesus was when He was the Son of Man?
In the selected verses Paul wrote “Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.” Are we stronger than Jesus as we traverse this lifetime, thus we do not need to pray? Are you, are we, too proud to pray? Do we believe that everything we have is a gift from God? I am remiss when it comes to praying before each meal, it a difficult habit for me to thank God for each meal. Do you sometimes fail to pray when it is appropriate?
Paul had another message for us about prayer, and when we should pray. Make sure that nobody pays back wrong for wrong, but always try to be kind to each other and to everyone else. Be joyful always; pray continually; give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus. (1 Thessalonians 5:15-18). You are living only because it is still God’s will that you must remain living in this cursed world. I have heard an old saying, “Only the good die young!” I do not believe this saying in Biblical, as we are told there is no one who is good!
Living in this cursed mortal world, even Jesus did not consider Himself as being good. As Jesus started on his way, a man ran up to him and fell on his knees before him. "Good teacher," he asked, "what must I do to inherit eternal life?" "Why do you call me good?" Jesus answered. "No-one is good— except God alone.” (Mark 10:17-18). Of course, this is part of the story of the rich young man, and he could not give up his wealth, and then go follow Jesus. What, if anything, are you willing to give up, so that you can then follow Jesus? Some people are too proud of their selected lifestyle to be willing and able to live as Jesus/God instructs!
Paul wrote about taking pride only in your own actions, and not trying to compare how good you are with someone else. Each one should test his own actions. Then he can take pride in himself, without comparing himself to somebody else, for each one should carry his own load. (Galatians 6:4-5). Jesus came to this cursed world to allow God to be able to accept each human being as though they were not sinful creatures by using Jesus’ death and resurrection as a perfect sacrifice to cover over their sins. But now he has reconciled you by Christ’s physical body through death to present you holy in his sight, without blemish and free from accusation--if you continue in your faith, established and firm, not moved from the hope held out in the gospel. This is the gospel that you heard and that has been proclaimed to every creature under heaven, and of which I, Paul, have become a servant. (Colossians 1:22-23).
Remember we are always to hate the sin we commit, and those sins other people commit, but we are never to hate the sinner! Again, remember we are all sinners, we just may commit different sins than others do. Jesus died for all sinners! Paul proclaims the truth to live by and thus we may become a servant not of mankind, but a servant of God while still on this earth. This is the gospel that you heard and that has been proclaimed to every creature under heaven, and of which I, Paul, have become a servant.
So, now for the Good News to close out this commentary. I saw the Holy City, the new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride beautifully dressed for her husband. And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, "Now the dwelling of God is with men, and he will live with them. They will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God. He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away." (Revelation 21:2-4).
Therefore, at the end of your time in this cursed mortal world, there is a place that has been prepared for YOU, if you elected to become a follower of Jesus Christ. Remember what Jesus said to His disciples, I assume that includes you and me! "Do not let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God; trust also in me. In my Father’s house are many rooms; if it were not so, I would have told you. I am going there to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am. (John 14:1-3).
When your lifetime ends, Jesus will come back to get your immortal soul and take it back with Him to heaven! Now that is truly the Good News!
