The Oath Taken Today By Mr. Trump Ends With,” So Help Me God!”
John 15:10-12 (NIV)
If you obey my commands, you will remain in my love, just as I have obeyed my Father’s commands and remain in his love. I have told you this so that my joy may be in you and that your joy may be complete. My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you.
Joy to the world, are just a few words of a song we sing around the Christmas season. Did Jesus bring joy to this world? What do you think? Has Jesus brought joy into your life? If not, why not? This is a huge question for all of His followers to answer. Do you really work at getting your mind pointed toward following what Jesus starts the selected verses by saying, “If you obey my commands, you will remain in my love?” Are you really concerned enough to order your life so that you are trying to follow the commands Jesus left behind for His disciples? Jesus tells us that we must do this “so that my joy may be in you!” Do you feel the joy of Jesus in your heart?
“Jesus loves me, this I know for the Bible tells me so!” Next time you sing this song, take note of feeling loved by Jesus. Can you believe it, can you understand it, can you believe it? Yes, I know I repeated myself, but can you really believe, and live it? If you cannot comprehend the love of Jesus for you, then you cannot actually live in it! There seems to be little to no evidence of this belief, so that we will follow what Jesus called His command. When Jesus said, “My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you.”
Our world seems to be filled not with love, but it seems to be more filled with hate. Today a new President of the United States of America will be inaugurated, and it has been estimated this event will cost about 100 million dollars for all the security agents accumulated to protect this man who will take over the management of this once great country! The real question is, will this country ever be able to really become “One Nation Under God?” Will some hate filled member of mankind attempt to assassinate this man before he can try to make good on his oath to ‘Make America Great Again?” Has this great country ever really been, One Nation Under God?”
The writer of Ecclesiastes had something interesting to state. When times are good, be happy; but when times are bad, consider: God has made the one as well as the other. Therefore, a man cannot discover anything about his future. (Ecclesiastes 7:14). What does the future hold for the USA? We really cannot know, because everything that is ever accomplished by mankind is done in a today! Certainly, what happens today will affect the future, both yours, and everyone else who is alive in this country, and in this world today! However, mankind cannot know the future! Some people believe that God knows the future, and I do not question that. However, I believe God is all-knowing and all-powerful, and only God can know the future. With that said, it is very important that we believe there is no such thing as fate! God is so powerful that He controls everything, but God still allows each member of mankind to still have a free will!
God controls everything that goes on in this world, but Jesus upholds this world in every aspect, without robbing mankind of their responsibility to be the stewards of this earth. Jesus put mankind in charge of this earth He had just created. God blessed them and said to them, "Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it. Rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air and over every living creature that moves on the ground." (Genesis 1:28). Jesus’ plans for the future and He uses members of mankind to accomplish what is required to maintain the earth, and fulfill His plans. We are all offered a responsibility, for a small part of His plan, but if we turn down this offer, He just offers it to someone else, until His plan is completed. Have you accepted a responsibility offered you by Jesus? If not, then you are willing to have someone else do it!
Our real power comes from the most amazing offer Jesus made to only His disciples, and that is the power of prayer. If the USA can become great, it will only happen, if enough of its people hit their knees, and pray for us to somehow become a nation under God. Jesus message to those original disciples was to start asking for the good of their world by praying. Until now you have not asked for anything in my name. Ask and you will receive, and your joy will be complete. In that day you will ask in my name. I am not saying that I will ask the Father on your behalf. No, the Father himself loves you because you have loved me and have believed that I came from God. (John 16:24, 26-27). Do you love Jesus, who died to set mankind free? Jesus tells His disciples that, “the Father himself loves you because you have loved me “
If you are a professing Christian, today is not a day to be political, it is a day to be prayerful. Every prayer should start by giving thanks to God, not so much for what has already happened, but instead for what God is willing to do for us. Do you know about God or do you know God? Paul wrote about how some of mankind has and does not really ever try to develop a love for God/Jesus. For although they knew God, they neither glorified him as God nor gave thanks to him, but their thinking became futile and their foolish hearts were darkened. (Romans 1:21). Is your heart encouraged to believe that God loves us and has our best interest at His heart? If so, please pray for the USA on this special day!
I hope/pray that Mr. Trump is a wise man and that he has a knowledge of who Jesus is, and what Jesus has done for mankind. May he also be a righteous man, and that he may depend upon Jesus as his main advisor! Instruct a wise man and he will be wiser still; teach a righteous man and he will add to his learning. (Proverbs 9:9). If the USA is to work on becoming more of a country that is one nation under God, it depends greatly on this new President! However, it will only be accomplished if the faithful pray for God’s intervention in the state of this union.
We the people must say, “In God, We Trust!”
It was encouraging to me to hear the Name of Jesus even Jesus Christ during the prayers offered at the inauguration events today! The message of Mr. Trump started with a commitment by him to turn the ruling of this country back to the people! Our constitution asserts this, and my prayer is that Mr. Trump is sincere when he makes such statements. Let us all wait and see! But while you wait make sure we are waiting on the Lord, as the real leader of this great country!
