Did God Really Create?
Genesis 1:1 (NIV) Part 2 of 2
In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.
Our children are being taught that they are just an animal that has evolved to the point of now looking like a human being. They have been told except for the evolution of an opposable thumb, we would still be swinging through the trees in some jungle, as our apelike ancestors did! If they do believe what they are being taught, then is it at all surprising when they act like animals, and try to survive by being the fittest? This could include killing those other humanlike animals they have to contend with in school or other places. Of course, believing the evolutionary theory in itself does not cause everyone to become a killer. However, it does reduce the value of a human life to a lower level similar to that of an animal.
It seems important to know that Jesus did not believe in evolution! Matthew wrote for us what Jesus said to some Pharisee’s about why a man should not divorce his wife. "Haven’t you read," he replied, "that at the beginning the Creator ‘made them male and female’, and said, ‘For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh’? So they are no longer two, but one. Therefore what God has joined together, let man not separate." (Matthew 19:4-6). If mankind was male and female from the beginning,, then there is no such thing as evolution! Jesus is quoting from Genesis 1:27 and Genesis 2:24 in His response.
When you look in a mirror are you happy with your reflection? Most of us are not very happy, because we think we are too fat or too thin, or we are too tall or too short, or we are too small in some places or too big in some places! Even those people we think are beautiful feel similar, or at least, they say they do! It seems most people are not satisfied with what they see when looking in a mirror. The reason for such confusion in this self-evaluation is that we are comparing ourselves to other people, and desiring to be superior to them. God does not look at the outer appearance as His barometer of valuation. We should not do that either, as our true long-lasting value is reflected in our belief not our appearance!
When we look into a mirror, we should see not the ultimate evolution of an animal, but the ultimate Creation of a loving God! The huge difference is related to the full lifecycle of the being we are looking at! God has created us to live forever with Him, after a short stint on this earth. We get to choose whether we will spend all eternity with Him or without Him. That determination is made during this limited lifecycle, which God has granted to all human beings. This offer is only made to human beings; it is not available to Satan and his angels, or to animals!
So the next time you look in a mirror, or into the eyes of one of your brothers or sisters, remember we are a special creation of God. We have an immortal soul, and the animals do not! You are not just a highly evolved animal. God chose you to live with Him even before the creation of this universe! If Adam had not sinned, we would still be living in The Garden of Eden!
You are considered by God to be very special; He has a place prepared for you, in that place we refer to as heaven. Jesus told us about it in John 14:2-3. In my Father’s house are many rooms; if it were not so, I would have told you. I am going there to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am. Believe it, you are a special creation, and Jesus Himself is going to come back just for you. You must believe He will, to have it happen!
It seems the best evidence that we are not just another animal is reflected by our creative abilities. No animal can or does create things, such as buildings, or furniture, or weapons. We possess a creative ability to write and speak and play musical instruments, and much more! Where does this creative sense come from, and why do animals not have it? This shows a significant difference between humans and animals. God has given animals some amazing abilities too, but none of them truly possess a creative mind.
When God breathed that breath of life into Adam, it was much more than just an ability to survive. It entered man into a special spot in the creation event. We were immediately launched into the top spot of creation. We did not earn that spot by survival of the fittest; we were awarded it by God! Then God said, "Let us make man in our image, in our likeness, and let them rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air, over the livestock, over all the earth, and over all the creatures that move along the ground." (Genesis 1:26) You were created by God, and you are reflective of His image, even as you walk around on this earth! What a privilege, what a responsibility, we have received, as a gift from God our Creator!
This is part of the Word of God! Do not forget it, and do not lose sight of the fact that YOU are a special Creation by God! Anyone who listens to the word but does not do what it says is like a man who looks at his face in a mirror and, after looking at himself, goes away and immediately forgets what he looks like. (James 1:23-24) Do not forget YOU look like Jesus to God! He designed you to be responsible for the protection of the animals He created, and especially for the other human beings He created!
Your (our) only responsibility that is more important than preserving life on this planet, is the command we received from Jesus, as He left this planet temporarily. We are commanded to tell this story to all the human beings we come in contact with during this lifetime! They must hear it and believe it to live with Jesus during their remaining immortality.
We cannot grasp immortality during this lifetime, but there will be a time when it may be understood. Now we see but a poor reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known. (1 Corinthians 13:12) You are truly special; just wait to look at your reflection in God’s mirror!
