Remember To Pray Each Day For Our Country, For Today Is The Day Of Salvation!
2 Corinthians 6:1-2 (NIV)
As God’s fellow-workers we urge you not to receive God’s grace in vain. For he says, "In the time of my favor I heard you, and in the day of salvation I helped you." I tell you, now is the time of God’s favor, now is the day of salvation.
Some of us may have made resolutions to do something different in this coming year. Of course, the start of a new year is just another day in your life, but it is a good idea to take this day as an opportunity for us to dwell on making improvements in our lives. In the selected verse(s) a day is mentioned, “now is the time of God’s favor, now is the day of salvation.” This day mentioned is the most important day in everyone’s life, as it sets the stage for how your eternal soul will spend eternity. Have you committed your lifetime to being a follower of Jesus Christ? If you have not then, God has told you (us), “now is the time of God’s favor, now is the day of salvation.” There is no time to waste, if you have not made such a commitment, do it today! If you believe you have made such a commitment, make sure by recommitting your life to Jesus today.
We were just reminded again that Jesus came to this earth as the Savior of the world, and we gave gifts to those we love, as kind of a reminder of the gift of life eternal from Jesus. John wrote about this gift, and the fact that there is no other way by which we may be saved. "You know the way to the place where I am going." Thomas said to him, "Lord, we don’t know where you are going, so how can we know the way?" Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No-one comes to the Father except through me. (John 14:4-6)
Paul wrote to the churches about this gift of God’s grace, which came to us through Jesus Christ. For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God—not by works, so that no-one can boast. For we are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do. (Ephesians 2:8-10). Paul reminds the churches that we are here to do good works, not to gain heaven, but because we have been given salvation through grace. This gift of grace is the greatest gift of all.
Paul also wrote to the churches about the fact that we are all saved by grace once we accepted Jesus sacrifice for us. Jesus died for us as the perfect sacrifice even before we repented of our sins. All of us also lived among them at one time, gratifying the cravings of our sinful nature and following its desires and thoughts. Like the rest, we were by nature objects of wrath. But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions—it is by grace you have been saved. (Ephesians 2:3-5). But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us. (Romans 5:8)
Please remember to pray each day for our country, as we will soon swear in a new President. Pray that God will use Mr. Trump to somehow get our country to come together in love. This type of love is only available through God’s grace. For nothing is impossible with God." (Luke 1:37). Please pray for all the people who will reject any and all attempts to improve our country, no matter who is responsible for such attempts. We are in difficult circumstances as our political parties are too separated on all true issues, as they always stay in the party’s camp no matter what they may really believe. The people in this country are very divided on many issues, and there are many groups that are extremely divided and are bigoted in their views of other such groups. Only with God’s guidance can such problems be corrected, or even controlled!
Our society is becoming more and more lawless, and even defiant of anyone who holds a position of authority. There are groups that believe that terrorism is the only answer, and that killing anyone who disagrees is the correct answer. Many such groups are religiously organized, and thus, they are not likely to listen and any presentation of orderly conduct, as an answer to their complaints or questions. Such groups seem to believe that everyone else is against them and their views, or lifestyle, or religion!
Sorry about this kind of a rant, but it is important to realize we must have God’s intervention to alleviate such situations. Prayer is the only real answer to correct these festering societal groups of unreasoning people. Please do not join me in this rant, BUT please do join with me in prayer to God so that Jesus knows we are concerned for those who may be suffering at the hands of such terrorist mentality!
