Jesus Said, “I Will Come Back And Take You To Be With Me That You Also May Be Where I Am.”
Colossians 3:2-4 (NIV)
Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things. For you died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God. When Christ, who is your life, appears, then you also will appear with him in glory.
We are the walking dead people following Jesus Christ! No, we are not zombies as the film makers like to picture people returning from the dead to walk again. Your resurrection will be a beautiful event not a morbid time in your eternal life span. We humans are all created with an immortal piece of us that can be lived in this cursed world as a peaceful existence or a violent one, the only difference being who or what we follow in our mortal lifetime. There is only one God, and He offers one plan for salvation of mankind’s immortal soul. In this cursed world each of us must decide what we believe about how and why we are living in this world. To obtain salvation for our immortal soul we must “Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things.”
Our priority in this life must be directed toward separating ourselves from the ways of this world and toward developing fellowship with Jesus Christ, as He offers the only salvation plan that God allows. John wrote about having a true fellowship with Jesus Christ. If we claim to have fellowship with him yet walk in the darkness, we lie and do not live by the truth. But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all sin. (1 John 1:6-7). Having a fellowship with Jesus Christ is truly the only way to avoid the temptations offered by the demons of this world.
Paul wrote about this situation we find ourselves in in this world. We all inherit a sinful nature from Adam, and thus we must have a Savior, since as sinful creatures we cannot become holy enough to please God and go to heaven when we die. For just as through the disobedience of the one man (Adam) the many were made sinners, so also through the obedience of the one man (Jesus) the many will be made righteous. The law was added so that the trespass might increase. But where sin increased, grace increased all the more, so that, just as sin reigned in death, so also grace might reign through righteousness to bring eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. (Romans 4:19-21). I added the names for identification to make it clear, at least to me.
Paul goes on to clarify further about what he is writing. What shall we say, then? Shall we go on sinning, so that grace may increase? By no means! We died to sin; how can we live in it any longer? (Romans 5:1-2). If you have truly been born again, you will not want to go on sinning, as that would not, please Jesus Christ. However, we must be on guard as we do still have that mortal piece of us that can be attacked by the demons in this world. Paul wrote about how Satan is allowed to be the ruler of this cursed world and will attempt to attract all humans to do sinful things. As for you, you were dead in your transgressions and sins, in which you used to live when you followed the ways of this world and of the ruler of the kingdom of the air, the spirit who is now at work in those who are disobedient. (Ephesians 2:1-2).
Remember, even Jesus was tempted by Satan, immediately after John the Baptist baptized him. However, Jesus did have the advantage of not having a sinful nature, as He was not born into this world through an earthly father who would have passed on the sinful nature to Him. Jesus was born into this world as Adam was created without an earthly father, thus no sinful nature was passed on to them. Remember, even though Adam was not created with a mortal sinful nature, he still had a free will, and thus he chose to eat the forbidden fruit which he knew was being disobedient to God. Satan was present in the Garden of Eden and tempted Eve and Adam, but God still held Adam responsible for that first or original sin, which caused them to be cursed to now be mortal beings.
This curse of death can only be covered by the shed blood of Jesus Christ, as the need for a Savior was instituted immediately when Adam ate the forbidden fruit. There was no death or even suffering in this world before that original sin was committed. Mankind is created with the ability to reason, and we are blessed with a free will, so we can decide weather we will follow Jesus Christ in our mortal lifetime, so our immortal soul will end up in heaven when we die. There is no other salvation plan that God will honor. All worldly religions were created by a member of mankind who is directed by their sinful nature, and thus, God will not honor their followers with salvation, and going to heaven when they die.
How can we be sure that Jesus Christ is the One and Only Savior of this mortal world? Honestly, it is only because Jesus was prophesized in the Old Testament, and He fulfilled all those accounts given to mankind in our Bible. The Bible is the only book in the mortal world that is the Word of God. You must believe this to become a Christian, and thus, as a follower of Jesus Christ you will end up in heaven when you lease this cursed world! One of those times that Jesus is recorded as saying He is the Savior, is when He talked with the Samaritan women at the well. The woman said, "I know that Messiah" (called Christ) "is coming. When he comes, he will explain everything to us." Then Jesus declared, "I who speak to you am he." (John 4:25-26).
One of my favorite accounts of Jesus promise that He is the Savior, and He will be sure we end up in heaven with Him. Let us end this commentary with that report from Jesus to His disciples (us)!
"Do not let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God; trust also in me. In my Father’s house are many rooms; if it were not so, I would have told you. I am going there to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am. You know the way to the place where I am going." Thomas said to him, "Lord, we don’t know where you are going, so how can we know the way?" Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No-one comes to the Father except through me. If you really knew me, you would know my Father as well. From now on, you do know him and have seen him." (John 14:1-7).
Jesus said, “I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am.”
