God’s Love Allows Us To Pass On To Everyone A Love That Will Never Fail!
1 Corinthians 13:12-13 (NIV)
Now we see but a poor reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known. And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.
Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God. Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love. This is how God showed his love among us: He sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through him. (1 John 4:7-9). On this day of love, it seems important to know where love comes from, and how mankind can truly show love to any other person in this cursed world! Paul has written for us some real clues about us being able to truly love others, because God first loved us! Do you believe that with God’s control, we can come to know how to love others? It is important to remember that while we do have a sinful nature, which will result in us going to hell when we die, which is why we MUST rely on God’s Love to allow us to know we are going to go to heaven, because our salvation does not, and cannot be awarded to us because we are good people.
First, let us see Scriptures that inform us of this free gift of salvation, if we take Jesus into our lives as our Lord and Savior! Paul tells us about this gift of freedom. For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. (Romans 6:23). For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God—not by works, so that no-one can boast. (Ephesians 2:8-9). Some people will say something like, well I’ll start attending a church, as soon as I get my life straightened out. Of course, it is impossible to get your life going the right way, unless you first have Jesus Christ in you! Paul made this clear for all of us to understand, that Jesus wants to indwell you, as you are, so He can enhance your life through His love. But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us. (Romans 5:8). Get Christ, then your life will get better, if you let Him!
Paul again helps us believe that we can become righteous through taking on Jesus and allowing Him to cause us to believe we can be saved even though we may not be able to feel loved by God. For just as through the disobedience of the one man the many were made sinners, so also through the obedience of the one man the many will be made righteous. (Romans 5:19). Hopefully, by now you may be able to believe you can become a righteous and loving person, because you have taken Jesus into your heart, and sometimes you are allowing Him to direct your life. If we (you) can accept that you can be good person since you now have the Holy Spirit indwelling your heart. Then the Valentine’s Day heart can be in your life every day, not just on this day. Paul wrote about a pure love, which is from God to all those who have taken on Jesus to be the Lord of their life.
This love that Paul wrote about seems a bit too perfect for it to be human love, but it seems Paul believed it could be attained and directed by imperfect members of mankind too. Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. (1 Corinthians 13: 4). Being able to love others without reservation requires a lot of things, but I believe its most important aspect “it is not proud.” Of course, these other aspects Paul pointed out patience, kindness, not being envious and not boasting are important too, but none of these can be maintained unless you are not taking pride, as though this love is coming from you. It is not really coming from you as much as it is being given to you by Jesus!
Love is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. (1 Corinthians 13: 5). The next series of loving attributes Paul lists are all important, but it seems to me the most important is to love other people we must be able to forgive them, and forget feeling hurt because of the actions of others. We must have a love so strong that “it keeps no record of wrongs.”
Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. (1 Corinthians 13: 6). Unfortunately, we cannot be sure everyone will always be honest and true with us in this lifetime. However, it is important for you (us) to try to deal with some people who may profess a loving attitude toward us, which may not be genuine or true. It is important for us seek the truth and attempt to deal with everyone where our life reflects and “rejoices with the truth.” Evil lurks in this world in which Satan can negatively influence everyone, including you, but as saved souls, we must seek the truth always, even when it may require us to forgive the actions of some, even though we may think they are wrong. Pray for those who may not have yet found the forgiveness available from God through Jesus Christ!
Love always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. (1 Corinthians 13: 7). As a saved follower of Jesus Christ, we have the advantage of being able to get along with everyone, when it depends on you! Jesus told us we can always ask Him for help in keeping a good frame of mind, by depending on Him in times of stress, as Jesus is always available to share our burden, whatever it may be. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. (Matthew 11:29). Thus, we can through love have a sentiment that “always hopes!” As Paul wrote “Love always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.” This love that Paul wrote about was felt by him as he had been convicted through a personal encounter with Jesus Christ, when he was persecuting the newly formed church, which has come to be known as the Christian church, or more aptly called the body of Christ.
Love never fails. (1 Corinthians 13: 8a). Everyone who is a member of this body of Christ is capable of a love, when directed by Jesus Christ, which allows us to express “Love (that) never fails!” On this special day we should first contact Jesus, and ask Him to allow us to join His yoke, so that He is helping us pull the load of this life, so we can feel free to pass on a love to all those we love that will never fail!
Wishing you and your loved ones,
Happy Valentine’s Day!
