Jesus Is The Reason For The Season!
Matthew 1:22-23 (NIV)
All this took place to fulfil what the Lord had said through the prophet: "The virgin will be with child and will give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel"— which means, "God with us."
Jesus was born into this world without the normal sexual act required to allow fertilization of the female egg, thus resulting in the starting of a pregnancy of the female human being. This virgin birth was necessary so that Jesus did not inherit a sinful nature, as all human babies do, which was inherited from the male counterpart carried forward from Adam since the Fall of Man in the Garden of Eden. Thus, Jesus was born into this world as Adam was before he committed that first or original sin.
Jesus could not become the perfect sacrifice if He had an earthly father, since He would have started life with a sinful nature, causing Him to have difficulty avoiding a sinful life, as all of us do. Jesus was not just another human being born into this cursed world, as some people erroneously think of Him. This was not just another baby being born into this world. As the selected verses state this baby was born to be "God with us."
Isaiah prophesied what God told him about this future coming of the Savior for this cursed world. For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counsellor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Of the increase of his government and peace there will be no end. He will reign on David’s throne and over his kingdom, establishing and upholding it with justice and righteousness from that time on and for ever. The zeal of the LORD Almighty will accomplish this. (Isaiah 9:6-7). Such fulfilled Bible prophesies should be understood as proof of our Bible’s inspiration and guidance from God.
What were people anticipating about this Savior who was coming into this world? In those days most people seemed to want an earthly king who would free them from the earthly control of mankind. After the people saw the miraculous sign that Jesus did, they began to say, "Surely this is the Prophet who is to come into the world." Jesus, knowing that they intended to come and make him king by force, withdrew again to a mountain by himself. (John 6:14-15). Jesus came not to be an earthly king, on His first trip to this cursed world! Well, this was His first trip as the Savior of this world!
Jesus told us that we must love one another if we were to be His followers. Dear friends, since God so loved us, we also ought to love one another. No-one has ever seen God; but if we love one another, God lives in us, and his love is made complete in us. (1 John 4:11-12). Jesus tried to teach us that, if we believe in Him, we should love all other sinners, because “God so loved us” that He sent us a Messiah to give us love and freedom.
In this world today, most people do not believe that Jesus Christ is the Savior that God sent into this world. What if some did not have faith? Will their lack of faith nullify God’s faithfulness? Not at all! Let God be true, and every man a liar. As it is written: "So that you may be proved right when you speak and prevail when you judge." (Romans 3:3-4). In this country today it seems more people believe in Santa Claus than they believe in Jesus Christ. What about you, is buying gifts more important to you than worshipping Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior? This is an important question for all of us.
Do your children know more about Santa than they know about Jesus, because you spent a lot of time teaching about Santa, and almost no time teaching them about Jesus? It is difficult living in this country not to be influenced by worldly stories, because we are living as a worldly being and thus, having a love for the things this world may offer. Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have, because God has said, "Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you." (Hebrews 13:5).
Paul wrote to Timothy, and for us, about how worldly possessions can cause us to seek wealth in this world before we first seek Jesus to save us from this cursed world. For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some people, eager for money, have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs. (1 Timothy 6:10). This verse is often misquoted as being “the root of all evil,” but is says “a root of all kinds of evil.” So, loving money is only one way that leads us to sin, there are many other “things” that also lead us to sin! Being a liar is always mentioned as one of the deadly sins!
Jesus once said, “So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.” (Matthew 6:31-33). Jesus wants us His followers, to strive for the correct sequence of earthly events during this lifetime, which is to “seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.
Jesus Christ wants us to seek Him first and to strive for the permanent place He has prepared for all His followers in heaven. Remembering that this cursed world is a temporary wonderful place He created for us to live in, until He creates the new Paradise of God, AKA Heaven. Some people say, Jesus is the Answer! But what is the real question? The answer is, He has prepared a place for you, and He will lead you there, when it is your time for the award! Now that is the promise, we need to tell others about, during this Advent Season.
Because He came, we need to tell those who may not believe that He is the real reason for the season! Now is the time to be Merry!
