When We Die, Jesus Has Promised To Come To Escort Our Immortal Soul To Where He Has Prepared A Place For Us In Heaven!
1 Corinthians 15:3-4 (NIV)
For what I received I passed on to you as of first importance: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures!
The greatest story ever told is expressed in these two verses from the Scriptures. If you believe any news reports you hear about how bad off our world has become today, do not overlook this account recorded in our Bible by Paul. Because this is the future Good News report for all those who believe that Jesus Christ was sent into this cursed world to save your immortal soul, not in this lifetime but after your stint on this curse world ends, and then you will join Jesus in the Paradise of God! Now that is the real Good News for you today!
Of course, we need to read the rest of the Scriptures to get all the Good News, but the selected verses say it all, if you believe the rest of the story supplied to you by God. It is all explained in your Bible, which is the Word of God. Some people question the validity of the Scriptures, as they ask, could mankind have kept these stories correct for the thousands of years since they were first written? Many people today do not believe these recorded stories are correct, or ever if these accounts can be complete and true! Of course, this is the wrong question to be asked! The real question is, “Could God keep these written accounts true for thousands of years?” The God I believe in could have accomplished this, to Him, a simple task perfectly completed!
Jesus knew mankind could not keep such important information correct for thousands of years that is why He left the Holy Spirit behind on this earth, when He left to return to heaven. You see, this Holy Spirit assists us sinful humans to be able to read our Bibles, God’s Word, and get the message correctly when we study it! This same Holy Spirit directed mankind to translate our Bible over the years, and He was present to guide all those who wrote the Old Testament accounts too!
The only requirement we have of getting help from this Holy Spirit is to first be born again by excepting the perfect sacrifice Jesus Christ offered all mankind by dying on that cross some two thousand years ago. Have you accepted Jesus’ perfect sacrifice yet? This is the most important question you must answer during this lifetime living in this cursed world!
Did you know Jesus Himself will prepare a place for you with Him in heaven, when you profess you believe He is your personal Savior! John recorded for us this promise of Jesus. "Do not let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God; trust also in me. In my Father’s house are many rooms; if it were not so, I would have told you. I am going there to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am. (John 14:1-3). Did you get the whole story here? Not only does Jesus prepare a place in heaven for those born again, but He also promises to come, when you leave this mortal life to escort you to the place, He has prepared for you!
Luke wrote what Jesus said about how God the Father will give this Holy Spirit to whomever is born again and then asks for help from this Spirit. "Which of you fathers, if your son asks for a fish, will give him a snake instead? Or if he asks for an egg, will give him a scorpion? If you then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him!" (Luke 11:11-13). The gift of the Holy Spirit is granted by God every time a believer asks for Him to help them.
Paul wrote about how Jesus was seen after He rose from the dead to authenticate His resurrection, therefore giving us evidence that resurrection from the dead is a real thing and can be believed as an event all the followers of Jesus Christ can look forward to. For what I received I passed on to you as of first importance: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures, and that he appeared to Peter, and then to the Twelve. After that, he appeared to more than five hundred of the brothers at the same time, most of whom are still living, though some have fallen asleep. Then he appeared to James, then to all the apostles, and last of all he appeared to me also, as to one abnormally born. (1 Corinthians 15:3-8).
Some unbelievers will claim that Jesus never claimed to be the Son of God, but that is not true. He claimed it many times and these accounts are recorded in our Bible. Here is one such account, when Jesus talked to the Samaritan woman at the well! The woman said, "I know that Messiah" (called Christ) "is coming. When he comes, he will explain everything to us." Then Jesus declared, "I who speak to you am he." (John 4:25-26). Here Jesus admits to being the Messiah to this woman. And because He also tells her details about her life, so she comes to believe Jesus is the Messiah. She tells people in her village about her belief in Jesus because He knows all about her.
Then these people hear Jesus out and His teaching convinces them that He is their Messiah too. They said to the woman, "We no longer believe just because of what you said; now we have heard for ourselves, and we know that this man really is the Savior of the world." (John 4:42). We do not have this wonderful opportunity to have Jesus teach us, but we do have God’s Word on this matter, which we can study to confirm our belief.
Jesus while He still walked this earth as our Messiah, He also gave us evidence of His knowledge of future events as the Son of God. As an example, He knew He must die as the Savior of the world. Mark recorded this account of Jesus predicting His death and burial. "Leave her alone," said Jesus. "Why are you bothering her? She has done a beautiful thing to me. The poor you will always have with you, and you can help them any time you want. But you will not always have me. She did what she could. She poured perfume on my body beforehand to prepare for my burial. (Mark 14:6-8). Jesus is not still on this earth in that tomb, He has Risen!
None of us will know when and how we will die! However, we can believe as a fact that when we die, Jesus has promised to come to escort our immortal soul to where He has prepared a place for us in heaven! Now that is truly the Good News!
