It Is True, Jesus Has Prepared A Room In Heaven For You!
Hebrews 11:1 (NIV)
Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see.
Faith is a buzz word sometimes used to indicate a belief in the words of some member of mankind, who seems to be very knowledgeable on some subject, which we may not be so informed on, and thus, we may depend on their opinion about some decision we need to make. This is often a good idea, as we may not have time or the ability to understand through our own knowledge, so we just proceed based on the other persons knowledge and opinion. Of course, this type of decision making is perilous as no man or women knows everything, plus they may well be a con artist. So, that bridge we just bought was not really for sale! In this cursed world it is difficult to depend on the honesty of people, because we have experienced deceptions and even outright lies. Why start this commentary with these negative comments about other members of mankind, you may wonder? My hope is that by starting out with the bad news, when the switch is made to good news you may be happy to identify with it.
The good news is that God can be trusted, when He makes promises to us. Notice the selected verse kind of tells us that anything we see is temporal that there is nothing we see that will last forever, and therefore, we need to put our eternal hope or faith in Jesus only. The writer of Hebrews is telling us to first put our trust in God, before we can trust or have faith in mankind during our mortal lifetime. By faith we understand that the universe was formed at God’s command, so that what is seen was not made from what was visible. (Hebrews 11:3). God is in control of this world, and only His commands can truly bring us happiness during this lifetime. Of course, it is very important for all of us to have people around us who love us so that we can share kindness and love during this earthly lifetime. Having faith in God’s promises will allow us to have happiness in this life, even when other people may not treat us honestly as they should. We cannot change this world at large, but we can offer happiness to other people around us who are being positively affected by grace!
We can see the different types of people when disasters occur. Following recent tornado damage, we see people going into the affected area. Some, I believe most, people are going in to help the victims in any ways they can. Then there are those who are coming into steel whatever they can find as they try to loot this devastated area. For the most part the people and group that come to help are almost always Christians. This is not being said to put down other people, it is being said to lift the followers of Jesus who are coming to help through the love inspired by trying to be Christ-like! Please pray for all those who have experienced loss because of recent storms.
I believe it is very important for each of us to seek out people who are like minded and who are devoting their lives to following Jesus Christ! People who have no interest in serving others through sharing their burdens in this life cannot offer a long-term happy environment that surrounds them and rubs off on others. James wrote about people of faith who have a desire to show their faith by doing good deeds to others. As the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without deeds is dead. (James 2:26). I hope/pray you have such people in your life! If you do not become a regular attending member of a church of your choice, I do not believe you will be able to find such people who you can depend upon. The writer of Hebrews wrote about how your faith is required before you can please God. And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him. (Hebrews 11:6). My hope is that anyone reading this believes that God “exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.”
Paul wrote about how during this lifetime it is difficult for some of us to believe and be fully confident in the salvation offer through Jesus’ perfect sacrifice, and thus, to be free from any doubts about leaving this life and going directly into Paradise to be with Jesus. Now we see but a poor reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known. And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love. (1 Corinthians 13:12-13). You must fully accept the love of Jesus for you and be ready for immediate salvation of your immortal soul, which will take place when you leave this lifetime. It is too wonderful to grasp while we remain in this mortal cursed body. John wrote what Jesus said to His disciples about this promise to all His followers. Do not let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God; trust also in me. In my Father’s house are many rooms; if it were not so, I would have told you. I am going there to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am. (John 14:1-3). This is the promise Jesus made to all His followers!
It is true, Jesus has prepared a room in heaven for you! Now that is a good thought to close with. Remember “The End” is not the end it is a new beginning!
