You Cannot Get On That Narrow Path, Unless Jesus Is Guiding You To It, And Then Walking With On It, FOREVER!
Hebrews 11:6 (NIV)
And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.
Salvation through Jesus Christ requires only one aspect which is that you believe Jesus is who He says He is. Of course, since we live in a world that has been cursed by the entry of sin which caused all people to develop a sinful nature and thus cause us to have doubts about the possibility that we can become holy. The writer of Hebrews emphasizes this need for us to have a strong faith, and thus, believe that Jesus Christ is the one and only Savior of this world. To please God, we must develop a strong faith, because “without faith it is impossible to please God.”
Do you believe that the triune God exists? Do you believe that Jesus Christ came into this world to supply the perfect sacrifice needed for God the Father to forgive your sins? Then if you are seeking a lifestyle that includes working on becoming more Christ-like, then as the selected verse states, “anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.“ Remember, only your faith in Jesus can and will save your immortal soul, when you depart this mortal lifetime.
Paul wrote about this wonderful news to the church in Rome and for us. For there is no difference between Jew and Gentile—the same Lord is Lord of all and richly blesses all who call on him, for, "Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved." (Romans 10:12-13). If you have faith in Jesus Christ as your Savior, you become a member of the Body of Christ and become part of the “everyone group” and "Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved." This is the click that we should all be striving to become an active member.
If I found a club that would accept me as a member, I would not join, because any club that would allow me to join, I would not want to be a member! This silly saying is meant to make us know that from a cursed world perspective some people think they may not be good enough to be saved because of what Jesus did in their stead. That is why some people will say, “I’ll start coming to church, after I’ve straightened out my life a bit!” Such people just do not understand that you cannot get on that narrow path, unless Jesus is guiding you to it, and then walking with on it, FOREVER!
If you choose to not attend a church of your choice on a regular basis, you cannot build on the process of becoming more Christ-like every day! I firmly believe this, what do you think? It is my belief that you cannot worship God/Jesus on your own and truly continue to build on the process of becoming more Christ-like. When Jesus walked this earth as the Son of Man, he regularly attended Temple services. He taught in their synagogues, and everyone praised him. He went to Nazareth, where he had been brought up, and on the Sabbath day he went into the synagogue, as was his custom. (Luke 4:15-16). Jesus attended the church of His choice, are you better than Jesus and thus you do not need to attend a church, Jesus attended “as was his custom.”
There are currently people living on this earth who do not believe there is a God! From history we can see there have always been such people. In Psalm 14 we read about such people. The fool says in his heart, "There is no God." They are corrupt, their deeds are vile; there is no-one who does good. The LORD looks down from heaven on the sons of men to see if there are any who understand, any who seek God. All have turned aside, they have together become corrupt; there is no-one who does good, not even one. (Psalm 14:1-3). From God’s perspective everyone possesses an evil spirit, now, we refer to this condition as the belief that every human is born with a condition described as having a sinful nature. Therefore, there are no Good People who are destined to go to heaven when they die! As the Psalmist wrote, “there is no-one who does good, not even one.”
I can only hope I burst your bobble here, if you believed you are good enough, and therefore, do not need Jesus Christ to save your immortal soul when you die. No one is good enough to go to heaven when you die! To get to heaven when you die, you must follow Jesus Christ, there is no other way! Jesus told us this in many ways, here is one time recorded by John. My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me. I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no-one can snatch them out of my hand. My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all; no-one can snatch them out of my Father’s hand. I and the Father are one." (John 10:27-30).
Take note here too that Jesus claims He is one part of the triune God, when He said, “I and the Father are one." Some people will tell you Jesus never claimed to be God, but that is not accurate, and here is one of the times when He did claim it!
