Please Pray For Our New Leader(s) To Have The Holy Spirit In The Top Advisor Position In Their Cabinet!
1 John 2:15-17 (NIV)
Do not love the world or anything in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For everything in the world—the cravings of sinful man, the lust of his eyes and the boasting of what he has and does—comes not from the Father but from the world. The world and its desires pass away, but the man who does the will of God lives for ever.
What is the will of God? Does any member of mankind ever really know the answer to this question? Are there ever times when you believe you may know the answer to this question? Each day brings a new opportunity to dwell on such a question. This coming Thursday most of us will join part of our earthly family and go through a ritual of expressing thanks for the good parts of our life. What are you most thankful for, is a good place to start your thinking to prepare for thanksgiving. No, not the just the holiday, the real idea of being truly thankful! Will your thanks be relegated to being thankful for worldly stuff? Are you already looking forward to Christmas gifts, as you prepare for Black Friday shopping?
In the selected verses, John writes a warning for us “Do not love the world or anything in the world.” Then John states, “If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him.” Because John believes, “For everything in the world—comes not from the Father but from the world.” Here John is warning us to understand that while God did create the world, because of man’s sin this world is a temporal place, one destined to distraction, and thus not worthy of your eternal love. You are an eternal being created by God with a spark of life that is godlike, and thus, your destiny and thankfulness should be placed in an eternal place, where you will share God’s space, forever!
The presidential election is finally over, thank God! Soon we in the USA will have a new leader, and we now must pray for this new leader, even if we did not chose him to be our leader. Pray first that this new leader was chosen by God to lead this once great country! Also, be thankful that this country is in some ways, still great. We are still the freest country in this world. The fact that groups have formed to express their dissatisfaction with this choice of our new leader. This type of peaceful assemble is allowed in this country, but would be met with forceful reaction in some countries around this world!
Paul wrote to Timothy about this idea of praying for the leaders of your nation, even if you do not like the one chosen to lead! I urge, then, first of all, that requests, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for everyone—for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. This is good, and pleases God our Savior, who wants all men to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth. (1 Timothy 2:1-4). It saddens me to see the loss of respect for the people who have devoted their lives to policing this country. This loss of respect is nationwide, and hatred for any authority is concentrated in areas where it is most needed to protect those who live there, and need protection! Please pray for the people who live in such areas!
Peter wrote about placement of our trust in Jesus that He will protect us and because of this we can live a life filled with joy! You love him even though you have never seen him. Though you do not see him now, you trust him; and you rejoice with a glorious, inexpressible joy. The reward for trusting him will be the salvation of your souls. (1 Peter 1:8-9, NLT.) Some people say “Seeing is believing,” but true followers of Jesus will say, “Believing is seeing” instead! Respecting someone else requires viewing them as better than yourself, because they were created by Jesus, and therefore, capable of being your equal. All members of mankind were created equal, and thus, they should be expected to get your respect for them. There is a potential reward for trusting in Jesus, “The reward for trusting him will be the salvation of your souls.” Do you, can you, really trust Jesus? The salvation of your soul hinges on it!
Only followers of Jesus Christ can be in concert with the Holy Spirit, other members of mankind remain worldly. Jude wrote about this situation for us. These are the men who divide you, who follow mere natural instincts and do not have the Spirit. But you, dear friends, build yourselves up in your most holy faith and pray in the Holy Spirit. Keep yourselves in God’s love as you wait for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ to bring you to eternal life. (Jude 1:19-21). Remember, your prayers of thanksgiving should be related to obtaining your salvation through Jesus’ mercy on you a sinner. You are NOT a good person in God’s sight, except if God sees you appearing before Him with His Son. Jesus promised to come and get you and take to where He is, when you leave this worldly lifetime.
Jesus was lifted up on that cross, where He died for your sins, and because you accepted His gift of grace you now can look forward to joining Him in heaven some day! I have spoken to you of earthly things and you do not believe; how then will you believe if I speak of heavenly things? No-one has ever gone into heaven except the one who came from heaven—the Son of Man. Just as Moses lifted up the snake in the desert, so the Son of Man must be lifted up, that everyone who believes in him may have eternal life. (John 3:12-15). Now this is a wonderful truth for you to express thankfulness for on Thanksgiving Day, and every day for the rest of your life.
Please pray for our new world leader(s) who were just elected that they may be touched by Jesus, which will cause them to have the Holy Spirit in the top advisor position in their cabinet!
Wishing you, a
Happy Thanksgiving Day!
Your brother in life through Adam, your brother in eternity through Jesus,
