Now You Are The Body Of Christ, And Each One Of You Is A Part Of It.
1 Corinthians 12:27 (NIV)
John 1:12-13 (NIV)
Yet to all who received him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God—children born not of natural descent, nor of human decision or a husband’s will, but born of God.
Is it true that all followers of Jesus Christ are “Children of God” and we are the only members of mankind who can claim this truth? John wrote about this situation and tried to clarify this Biblical truth for us. We know that we are children of God, and that the whole world is under the control of the evil one. (1 John 5:19). This is a difficult teaching, as it demonizes all other members of mankind as being led by Satan. Most of us know people who we do not believe have accepted salvation through belief in Jesus Christ, but they seem like nice people. Please do not forget that salvation is NOT earned by being a good person! Salvation is only available through faith is Jesus Christ! The Christian ethic is based on us becoming good people by acceptance of the Good News! Having Jesus in your life allows the Holy Spirit to indwell you, and this makes you a child of God, there is no other way to obtain salvation in this cursed world!
Paul wrote to Timothy and us, about how God’s Word tells us how to pray and for whom to pray. Also how we as followers of Jesus should conduct our lives, so our lives would please God, who is watching us as a protective Father. I urge, then, first of all, that requests, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for everyone—for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. This is good, and pleases God our Savior, who wants all men to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth. For there is one God and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus, who gave himself as a ransom for all men—the testimony given in its proper time. (1 Timothy 2:1-6). Is it possible for any human being to live a peaceful life in this cursed world? Paul is trying to assure Timothy and us, that it is possible, if we rely on Jesus! Paul indicates that our prayers can please God and then we can live in peace, even amid turmoil and strife around us, when Paul says, “that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness.”
If we are honest most of us would not believe that we as known sinners, could not expect to lead a life that is “peaceful and quiet --in all godliness and holiness” in this cursed world! Paul again wrote about how this world has been subjected to frustration, because of sin, but there is an escape for us through serving the Lord, which in turn may give us freedom from this life’s disruptions of freedom. For the creation was subjected to frustration, not by its own choice, but by the will of the one who subjected it, in hope that the creation itself will be liberated from its bondage to decay and brought into the glorious freedom of the children of God. (Romans 8:20-21). Jesus came into this world to give freedom to those who choose to follow Him by thus being,” liberated from its bondage to decay and brought into the glorious freedom of the children of God.” So, even though we are sinners, we can still have freedom from this sin filled world through acceptance of Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior! Such freedom is only available to members of mankind who chose to accept Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior! Do you permit the Holy Spirit to intercede for you in this world, thus allowing you a true taste of freedom?
Paul wrote about the fact that we cannot boast about our salvation, as we did nothing to gain it, Jesus paid the price for us, so that we sinners could know we are going to heaven when we die in this mortal world. Do everything without complaining or arguing, so that you may become blameless and pure, children of God without fault in a crooked and depraved generation, in which you shine like stars in the universe as you hold out the word of life—in order that I may boast on the day of Christ that I did not run or labor for nothing. (Philippians 2:14-16). Did you get that “you may become blameless and pure, children of God without fault!” This is NOT granted to you because of anything you can do in this cursed world, BUT Jesus did it for you, He gained heaven for you, when you die in this mortal world! John wrote about this to help us understand what Jesus did for you (us). He did not say this on his own, but as high priest that year he prophesied that Jesus would die for the Jewish nation, and not only for that nation but also for the scattered children of God, to bring them together and make them one. (John 11:51-52). If you are a member of the “body of Christ’ then you will be saved and go to heaven when you die.
John wrote about this wonderful accounting of what Jesus did for you in this cursed world. God loved us, so He sent His Son into this mortal world to offer salvation to all who would believe in Jesus and claim their salvation. How great is the love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are! The reason the world does not know us is that it did not know him. (1 John 3:1). Through this salvation God now looks at us as His children, and God wants us to join Him when we complete this cursed lifetime. Dear friends, now we are children of God, and what we will be has not yet been made known. But we know that when he appears, we shall be like him, for we shall see him as he is. (1 John 3:2). Did you get that, “we know that when he appears, we shall be like him, for we shall see him as he is.” This is a promise from God! Do not be confused by the ideas of the members of mankind who have rejected their offer of salvation!
John tries to clarify how we can know we have been saved by the perfect sacrifice Jesus for you (us). This is how we know who the children of God are and who the children of the devil are: Anyone who does not do what is right is not a child of God; nor is anyone who does not love his brother. (1 John 3:10). As John puts it, in this mortal world you can choose Jesus or choose Satan. There is no other way to obtain salvation in the mortal world! We are expected by God to love all people, but we should especially love those who are part of the “body of Christ!” This is how we know that we love the children of God: by loving God and carrying out his commands. (1 John 5:2). Do you choose to regularly attend a church of your choice? Do you believe that Jesus will be in attendance at that church too? Jesus told us He will be there, if He is invited! Have you invited Jesus to be in your life, and for Him to be with you and your friends at the church of your choice? "Again, I tell you that if two of you on earth agree about anything you ask for, it will be done for you by my Father in heaven. For where two or three come together in my name, there am I with them." (Matthew 18:19-20). Solomon was touted to be one of the most intelligent members of mankind, and he wrote about his confusion about God’s desire for us. He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the hearts of men; yet they cannot fathom what God has done from beginning to end. (Ecclesiastes 3:11). Believe it, there are more blessings to come for the children of God!
