If The Question Is, Can My Immortal Soul Be Saved? Then The Answer Is Jesus!
1 Thessalonians 2:13 (NIV)
And we also thank God continually because, when you received the word of God, which you heard from us, you accepted it not as the word of men, but as it actually is, the word of God, which is at work in you who believe.
Know what you believe, and why you believe it? A best friend has a teaching ministry, and this first sentence is the byline he uses to describe his ministry. Most Christians I know do not have the second part of this statement in their belief system. They may have a pretty good idea about knowing what they believe, BUT many of them do not know why they believe it. This is, to me, known as having a blind faith.
The key in what Paul wrote for the Thessalonians, and us, is about how you view the Bible, where it states, you accepted it not as the word of men, but as it actually is, the word of God.” Any other book you will ever read has been written by a person, who cannot know everything, thus it cannot be the absolute truth, as the Bible is!
If you have not taken the time to study the Bible and attempt to gain a good understanding of it, then you cannot develop a complete knowledge of it to allow you to know what you believe, and why you believe it! If you have spent much time involved in a church of your choice, you have likely learned a lot from people you came to know, and who were in a teaching position in that church. The writer of Hebrews reminds us of such people and how they may have positively affected your fellowship with Jesus Christ. Remember your leaders, who spoke the word of God to you. Consider the outcome of their way of life and imitate their faith. (Hebrews 13:7).
The obvious faith of some people is infectious in a good way and may have helped you increase your faith in who Jesus is! When Jesus still walked this earth as the son of man, He tried to give His disciples strength to be able to change their lives so they could become fishers of men. Has working on becoming more Christ-like been changing your life so you desire to tell His story to everyone who will listen? Paul wrote about getting strength through Jesus to allow him to preach and teach. I can do everything through him who gives me strength. (Philippians 4:13). Are you receiving “strength” from Jesus?
It seems in our world today; everyone is seeking their own recognition of who they are and what they believe. Many people are suspicious of what your intentions are when you try to get them to believe that there is only one God, and that salvation is only available to those who choose to follow Jesus Christ. of course, this is not a new thing, as mankind has not wanted there to be only one choice, as then they consider there is no real choice. However, this is the fact of this world you get to choose Jesus Christ as your Savior, or you choose to not have a Savior!
Some liberal theologians teach that Jesus was just a good man, and He was not God, and that He never claimed to be. Of course, this is not true as Jesus did claim to be the Savior of the world, and He was also God. One example is given us in Mark’s Gospel. But Jesus remained silent and gave no answer. Again the high priest asked him, "Are you the Christ, the Son of the Blessed One?" "I am," said Jesus. "And you will see the Son of Man sitting at the right hand of the Mighty One and coming on the clouds of heaven." (Mark 14:61-62). The religious leaders of that day did not believe what Jesus said, and thus they believed He should be killed for His blasphemy.
Although these leaders had the evidence of who Jesus was in the Scriptures they had in their possession, they choose to not believe it. Most of the people in this world today still do not believe that Jesus Christ is the Savior of the world, because He is also the third person of the trinity and thus God! What do you believe about who Jesus is? This is the most important question you must answer in your lifetime in this cursed world!
When Jesus was still walking on this earth He told His disciples, and whomever else who would listen that He is the Savior of the world who was sent here by Father God to be the perfect sacrifice needed to cover the sins of all of mankind. Jesus told us all that He was going back to heaven to be with The Father, our Father, and that He would come back some day and end this cursed earth. Then all those who chose to believe in Him and become His disciples would eventually join Him on the new earth, AKA heaven.
He also told all His followers that He was preparing an interim place for them to be with Him until the new earth has been created. If your chose to be on team Jesus, then He has prepared a place for you with Him, and He will come and get you to show you the Way there, when it is your turn! And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am. (John 14:3). When is Jesus coming back for you? All you must do is be ready is accept the perfect sacrifice He made for you!
If you know what you believe, and why you believe it? Then of course, if the question is, can my immortal soul be saved, then the answer is Jesus!
