Do You Have Time To Be With Jesus On The Next Sabbath? Jesus Will Be There Will You?
Acts 4:12 (NIV)
Salvation is found in no-one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved.
Salvation is not a reward for the good things we have done, so none of us can boast about it. (Ephesians 2:9, NLT) Are you proud to be a Christian? Some people seem to boast about how good they are, and this kind of behavior does not reflect well to people who have not yet accepted Jesus, as their Lord and Savior. Is the good life a reflection of God or of Satan? Can a rich person obtain heaven, or is it just too difficult? In the story of the rich young man, it seems the problem he had was he loved his money more than he loved God.
A rich man had just told Jesus that he has kept several of the Ten Commandments and now he wondered if he needs to do more before he can obtain salvation. When Jesus heard this, he said to him, "You still lack one thing. Sell everything you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me." When he heard this, he became very sad, because he was a man of great wealth. Jesus looked at him and said, "How hard it is for the rich to enter the kingdom of God! Indeed, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God." Those who heard this asked, "Who then can be saved?" Jesus replied, "What is impossible with men is possible with God." (Luke 18:22-27)
Who or what is your master? Jesus told His disciples (us) that you cannot love Him and love money too. You MUST choose one or the other, you cannot serve both. No-one can serve two masters. Either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and Money. (Matthew 6:24) Do you contribute financially to support a church group? Do you give real money, or do you print some counterfeit money and give it instead? Do you first pay all your bills, and then give something from what is left? Of course, I doubt that anyone reading this actually prints counterfeit money, but do you shortchange god by not giving to His work on this earth? Typing god not capitalized is not a mistake. Notice that in the verse above, how Matthew wrote, God and Money both with capital letters, “You cannot serve both God and Money.” We must all decide who or what we will love in this life.
Have you chosen a church that you attend regularly? I was once asked by a young woman, how can she be sure she is saved? She was very troubled, as she regularly hears people saying such things as “you may be surprised who you will see in heaven, and who you will not see!” She is not sure that she is saved, because she wondered if she had not made a real and complete commitment to Jesus of her life. Most of us believe that no church can save you, but I have been asked if a person must go to church regularly in order to be saved. Of course, the answer is no, however, if you do not attend a church and worship God, on a regular basis, then the question becomes, have you been saved? Then my answer would have to be that I do not know! Jesus attended the temple regularly when He walked this earth as a man, and He had no sinful nature. Can any person truly worship God and choose to not attend a church of their choice? My answer is, I do not know! However, I do believe any saved person would want to attend regular worship services with other believers, if they have committed their life to Jesus! To me, if a person does not attend a church to worship God, then they “may” not be saved!
Many people feel that the congregation of a church is not worthy of their valuable input, and thus, they see no reason to attend any church. It seems many people lack the humility to lower themselves enough to fit-in with any congregation. How about you do you regularly attend a church of your choice? He has showed you, O man, what is good. And what does the LORD require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God. (Micah 6:8) Is your life “too busy,” and thus, you don’t have time for attending a church on a regular basis? Is your life built around your chosen work? If it is then you need to commit what you are doing to the Lord, so that you may be blessed through it. Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart as working for the Lord, not for men. (Colossians 3:23, NLT) Doing this does not release you from worshipping God. How do you worship? This is a question all of must answer for ourselves!
Do you feel too tired to get up every Sabbath and go to church? Maybe you need to come to the Lord and be refreshed on the first day of each week. But those who trust in the Lord will find new strength. They will soar high on wings like eagles. They will run and not grow weary. The will walk and not faint. (Isaiah 40:31, NLT) Do you desire to soar like an eagle, but lack the energy to go for it? Don’t buy an energy drink, but instead come to Jesus and be refreshed.
Would you like to be peaceful in this life, but some spark seems to be missing? Jesus promised His peace is available to all His followers. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. (Philippians 4:7, NLT) Come to Jesus this very week and seek His peace for you. What do you have to lose? If you already attend a church on a regular basis, then look for something good to happen on the next Sabbath when you appear, and realize that He is there with you! For where two or three come together in my name, there am I with them. (Matthew 18:20)
Do you have time to be with Jesus on the next Sabbath? Jesus will be there will you?
