Did You RSVP Yet? Your Name MUST Be Written In God’s Book Of Life!
Luke 13:4-5 (NIV)
Those eighteen who died when the tower in Siloam fell on them—do you think they were more guilty than all the others living in Jerusalem? I tell you, no! But unless you repent, you too will all perish."
We do not parish, when we die to this life! We parish when we die to the eternal life God has planned for us! All the people on this earth today will die, and most of their souls will go to hell. This is what I believe this Bible account teaches, because most people will not repent, and as it states, “unless you repent, you too will all perish.” What do you believe about this statement? A lot of people believe that most people, they know and love will go to heaven when they die. However, the evidence does not indicate that many people do come to know Jesus Christ, and thus, repent. Most people on this earth today do not believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, and they MUST believe this to be saved, and go to heaven when they die!
It appears to me that this world is becoming more and more turbulent as we seem to be seeing more natural events that destroy property and misplace and/or kill more people. Currently we see people who are trying to recover from hurricanes, earthquakes and floods around the earth, and huge fires are destroying or have destroyed large parts of many states in the USA. In the USA we are seeing escalating violence everywhere we turn, and around this world, we see more terrorist actions, where large numbers of people are dying every day! On the side of reason, please do not be oblivious to the fact that violence is nothing new of this cursed earth. When there were only three men living on this earth, one of them killed his brother, because he felt that God was showing favor to that brother, and he was jealous of that godly status.
In the local news we read or hear how mankind is bent toward getting their own way, without regard to how or what they want affects other people all around them. One state is trying to legalize the recreational use of marijuana, while at the same time we hear about our current battle against the opioid onslaught that is causing hundreds of people to kill themselves by over dosing by shooting-up with illegal drugs that are readily available to them. The opioids are being overprescribed by Doctors that do not know better, or do not care how such usage causes people to die, as long as they make huge amounts of money in their practice.
In other news we hear about a large Christian run high school that is warning the parents that they need to quit getting drunk and becoming obnoxious and combative at the tailgate parties before the high school football games. In other news worthy stories, we are told we must show pride in those people who choose to have sex with, and marry people of the same sex! In local news we hear about a pastor who is openly gay and has married another person of the same sex, and the governing body of that denomination is considering what action, if any, will be taking in this case. The almighty dollar is the idol that leads members of mankind toward a risk and reward way of life, which is not what the Bible teaches.
What did Jesus teach about mankind being good? As Jesus started on his way, a man ran up to him and fell on his knees before him. "Good teacher," he asked, "what must I do to inherit eternal life?" "Why do you call me good?" Jesus answered. "No-one is good— except God alone.” (Mark 10:17-18). Jesus though He did not inherit a sinful nature from Adam, as we did, He still knew as a member of mankind, He was not able to say He was good! So, how can YOU consider yourself to be a good person? Jesus tells us His disciples that, "No-one is good— except God alone.” The Good News of course, is that because Jesus died for all our sins we will appear as sinless when Jesus escorts us into heaven to see Our Father! We only go there when we die, if we have already accepted Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior, and our name is written into God’s Book of Life.
This lifetime is actually very short, and we do not know when we will die. In some sad local news, we heard about two children who recently died from cancer, and another child that was killed in a hit-and-run accident while he was riding his bike. The point is we do not know when we will die. James the brother of Jesus wrote about this for us. Why, you do not even know what will happen tomorrow. What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes. (James 4:14). This could be considered as a rather morbid report, but please remember this lifetime is only a very short part of your lifetime, the best part is yet to come. That is, “the best part is yet to come,” this is only true if your life continues with your immortal soul leaving this earth, and then it continues with living with God in heaven. If you die without accepting salvation through Jesus Christ, then your immortal soul will go directly to hell, and be separated from the love of God forever.
One of the many parables Jesus told while He walked this earth dealt with the people of the body of Christ, or more precisely with the Jews, who were at that time God’s chosen people, and Jesus was sent here as their Messiah, but they did not recognize Him as such. Jesus was sent, first to the Jews, but He was also sent as the Savior for all of mankind, and this parable was outlining the kingdom of heaven, as a banquet for all of mankind. Jesus spoke to them again in parables, saying: "The kingdom of heaven is like a king who prepared a wedding banquet for his son. "Then he said to his servants, ‘The wedding banquet is ready, but those I invited did not deserve to come. Go to the street corners and invite to the banquet anyone you find.’ So the servants went out into the streets and gathered all the people they could find, both good and bad, and the wedding hall was filled with guests. "For many are invited, but few are chosen." (Matthew 22:1-2, 8-10, 14)
Note in this parable Jesus says “ 8 those I invited did not deserve to come.” Here Jesus is referring to the Jews, as those who “did not deserve to come.” Then Jesus is saying that everyone is to be invited to come to this banquet “9 invite to the banquet anyone you find.” This then includes everyone else to come into the body of Christ, and no one is to be excluded, He says to invite “10 both good and bad.” Aren’t you glad that everyone is invited. You do not have to cleanup your life first, as some people will retort, when you ask them to come to church with you! Of course, it is impossible to “cleanup” your life without first repenting, and turning your life over to Jesus! Then Jesus gives us the sad news, when He says “14 For many are invited, but few are chosen." Everyone is invited, but only a few will accept this offer of salvation, because they do not, cannot believe that this invitation is true, or they have been confused by some other offer, which claims to offer a different path that leads to eternal bliss. Some do not even believe there is an eternity, because they do not believe there is a God! What do you believe?
