Is your hope placed in God’s Word, not in man’s worldly
ideas?
Hebrews 10:39-11:1 and 3(NIV)
We are not of those who shrink back and are destroyed, but of those who believe and are saved. Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see. By faith we understand that the universe was formed at God’s command, so that what is seen was not made out of what was visible.
Religion is what you believe without proof. Some people have a religion based on man’s ideas, and is centered on the evolutionary processes, which have not been proven, thus their blind faith is based only on mankind’s ideas of how we got here. This is the religion of secularism of naturalism, which is now being taught to the children in most schools today in the USA. This same religion is being taught in some Christian schools too. Many denominations embrace such teaching too, and thus, they teach in it in their churches and/or schools they run.
There are areas of the Christian faith that are believed by some, even though, they do not understand it, because they have been guided by teachers whom also believe it through a blind faith. Some believe the earth has been proven to be older than just thousands of years like the Bible teaches. So they have come up with man’s ideas to modify the creation story to fit in the billions of years needed, so they can modify the Biblical accounts to allow for all of that needed time. This adjustment is needed so the Biblical creation story thus allows the addition of the needed years for evolution to occur.
Some Christians even do this adjustment, not to allow for evolution, as they do not believe man’s ideas about evolution, but they have been convinced the earth is older than a strait forward reading of the Bible would indicate! They profess a belief in adding in the needed years to allow for some events that caused God to recreate the earth, and then to create Adam and Eve on this new earth, so they can then accept the rest of the Bible as written.
Both of these ideas above are founded on the earth being older than the Bible indicates, if you just read the Bible and do not try to superimpose additional time needed to match what secular science indicates the age to be. However, there are now some real problems for those Christians who have added millions of years to the creation stories! Secular scientists have now discovered several things that cast a different light on the age of the earth, and that is causing them to reassess the proof’s that led them to believe the earth is more than thousands of years old!
Just a few of these findings are, dinosaur bones have been cut to find stretchable materials an even red blood cells, meaning these bones cannot be millions of years old, likely these bones only thousands of year old. Carbon has been discovered in diamonds, which means these stones cannot be billions of years old; they are likely only thousands of years old. The moon is moving away from the earth at a rate that does not allow it to be billions of years old or it would be somewhere out in space by now.
If you are reading this commentary and you’re wondering why this scientific presentation is being made! My intent is to try to impress upon you that you should not be hanging you hat on man’s ideas to supersede God’s Word, as some today are prone to do. If you believe the earth is billions of years old, and/or life has evolved on this earth of several millions of years, please believe that is not what God’s Word teaches. Even secular scientists are finding evidence that the earth is not billions of years old; it may be only thousands of years old, as the Bible plainly teaches. Creation scientists already believe the evidence available on the earth today does indicate it is only thousands of years old!
For this is what the LORD says—he who created the heavens, he is God; he who fashioned and made the earth, he founded it; he did not create it to be empty, but formed it to be inhabited—he says: "I am the LORD, and there is no other. (Isaiah 45:18) As a Christian my hope is that you believe that God created this world upon which we live. My hope is also that you believe God created it to bring glory to Him. My next hope is that you are endeavoring to plan your life according to a plan Jesus Christ laid out for you, and Paul wrote about. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal. (2 Corinthians 4:18)
We can all agree on one scientific fact, and that is, that someday we will die to this earthly life. However, there is disagreement about whether this earthly death ends it all, as atheists believe, or we just simply pass from this temporary phase into another phase, which is immortal.
As Christians we all believe the end of this life is not “the end!” Please believe there is the rest of the story, and life after death is much better than this go around was! Hopefully, you feel like me, and really like this one, but know something better is on the way, because of “The Way!”
Paul wrote about how misdirected it is to choose to follow a man any man for the basis of what you believe. For when one says, "I follow Paul," and another, "I follow Apollos," are you not mere men? What, after all, is Apollos? And what is Paul? Only servants, through whom you came to believe—as the Lord has assigned to each his task. I planted the seed, Apollos watered it, but God made it grow. So neither he who plants nor he who waters is anything, but only God, who makes things grow. (1 Corinthians 3:4-7) As Paul tells us, only God can make, and did make everything that grows!
Okay, what does this have to do with Independence Day? My hope is that this commentary may change your point of view about what you have the ability to choose to give you independence, which will enrich your life, and have a positive effect of those people around you that you love, and that may love you. The USA today is almost nothing like it was when I was young. It appears to me to be worse in aspects of life that I hold dear in my worldly perspective. God did not change, and Jesus will not change, as they are already perfect. However, mankind has changed, some for the better, but it appears to me we are changing for the worse!
I pray the USA may find a way of revival, and turn back to God! Recent decisions have shown we are turning away more from God and toward Satan. As Jesus told us there is really no gray area in this battle for freedom. He who is not with me is against me, and he who does not gather with me scatters. (Matthew 12:30) Choose Jesus and thus, become independent of the rules imposed by mankind, which restrict a true freedom, granted by His perfect sacrifice for you!
Wishing you a Happy Independence Day!
