The Perfect Church Awaits All Those Who Choose In This Lifetime To Follow Jesus.
Hebrews 11:1 (NIV)
Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see.
Is your faith built around the things you can see? Think about it this is very important, as if you answered yes, then you are strongly affected by worldly things, the stuff you possess in this world. The next two lines in Hebrews are, “This is what the ancients were commended for. By faith we understand that the universe was formed at God’s command, so that what is seen was not made out of what was visible.” (Hebrews 11:2-3). Therefore, everything we see in this cursed world came about by acts of creation as Jesus created everything we currently see. This does not mean that the stuff we see and the possessions we have are totally unimportant, because we worked on this earth to have possessions, but be careful, as these things are not going to be important to you when you leave this earth. Only personal relationships “may” be taken with you when you die to this life, and go to meet Jesus, or to meet Satan. Sorry, I had to put that last line in there.
When the Christians began to accept the gift of grace, they apparently thought that Jesus was coming back soon. They sold their possessions and started to live together in communes and share all they had with other believers. The writer of Acts wrote about this. Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved. (Acts 2:46-47). When we read this, it seems wonderful how everyone was willing to share with each other with a loving attitude. It would be wonderful today, if we could say, “And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved.”
Do you know that this statement is still true! There are people who find Jesus and turn their lives over to the Lord! However, in the USA today we see the opposite happening, as people are leaving the body of Christ more than those who are accepting their salvation. Our younger generations are leaving the body of Christ, likely to the fact that no one they love has ever told them about Jesus. Are you teaching your children, grandchildren or great grandchildren about Jesus? Are you, can you, tell someone how you came to love Jesus, or are you willing to let them meet Satan when they die? Yes, I know this is harsh, but it is still true.
Jesus gave us instructions to “go and make disciples of all nations!” Then the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain where Jesus had told them to go. When they saw him, they worshipped him; but some doubted. Then Jesus came to them and said, "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age." (Matthew 28: 16-20). Most of us cannot fulfill this order to “go and make disciples of all nations!” However, there are people who are followers of Jesus Christ all over this world, so this command can be fulfilled, if we all share Jesus with the people we do come into contact with every day, where we live!
You may have noticed the phrase, “but some doubted” in the above Bible verses, this has always caught my eye as it seems Matthew believed that even some of “the eleven disciples” may have had some difficulty understanding what they were seeing. We must understand that “seeing is believing” is not a true statement as what we see is worldly. To believe what we cannot see requires us know that “believing is seeing” which allows us to believe that Jesus Christ is the promised Messiah, and He is the only one there is. Some people make salvation to be almost not understandable, but it is actually easy to comprehend. Paul wrote one simple description for us. That if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved. (Romans 10:9-10). So, if you believe and confess your sinful desires, “you will be saved.”
In the USA today we see attendance at worship service declining at most churches. The only churches that may be growing offer very good entertainment. Until the pandemic most churches competed with youth sports, as practices and games were usually conducted on Sunday mornings. The writer of Hebrews wrote about how some people in those days were neglecting to attend worship services. Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful. And let us consider how we may spur one another on towards love and good deeds. Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching. (Hebrews 10:23-25). So, while neglecting to attend worship services at a church of your choice is not a new thing, it seems this trend is growing today. Some people will only attend a church were everyone agrees with their exact belief system.
If you find a perfect church on this cursed earth, do not join it, because you as a sinner will ruin its perfect record. Face it, there are no perfect churches here. However, if you are a follower of Jesus Christ, you will improve any earthly church. So, join and attend the worship services to of course worship God amid other believers. Also, join the Bible Study class, as your presence there will improve it too. The perfect church awaits all those who choose in this lifetime to follow Jesus at a church of their choice. In the new world there will be a perfect church on this new sinless world, which is also called heaven!
What a friend we have in Jesus! He will meet you at the church of your choice when you come to worship Him.
