Please Believe It, Only Jesus Christ Can And Is Willing To Save Your Immortal Soul!
2 Corinthians 5:17 (NIV)
Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come!
Working on becoming more Christ-like is a plan that all those who profess to be a Christian must be working on every day of the rest of their life. We are told that we all have inherited a sinful nature passed on forever in this mortal world from the first sin committed in the Garden of Eden by Adam and Eve. Because of the bent to sinning caused by our sinful nature, we cannot ever be good enough for God to grant us a place in heaven when we die and leave this cursed world. Yet we are also told that as soon as we accept Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior, we immediately become Christ’s ambassadors in this world. Notice what Paul wrote, “if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation” in the selected verse. Therefore, followers of Jesus Christ immediately go from being lost souls heading for hell, to ambassadors for Jesus Christ.
When you accepted Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior you became “a new creation.” Do you grasp this truth? Immediately you also received the Holy Spirit to indwell you and assist you to understand this truth! Following is the selected verse in context as written by Paul. Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come! All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation: that God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ, not counting men’s sins against them. And he has committed to us the message of reconciliation. We are therefore Christ’s ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us. We implore you on Christ’s behalf: Be reconciled to God. God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God. (2 Corinthians 5:17-21).
Do you feel righteous? If you are working on becoming more Christ-like, then you will eventually attain the ability through Jesus Christ to become reconciled to God, “so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.” It has been said, you may be the only Jesus someone may ever meet. Of course, this does not mean we can become Jesus, it only means you may become Christ-like, even in this cursed world. John wrote about how some day we will look like Jesus. How great is the love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are! The reason the world does not know us is that it did not know him. Dear friends, now we are children of God, and what we will be has not yet been made known. But we know that when he appears, we shall be like him, for we shall see him as he is. (1 John 3:1-2).
So, like Jesus we, His followers are no longer considered as being children of this world, as we have advanced beyond being steeped in worldly desires, as we are now supposed to be prepared for entry into heaven, when we leave this cursed world. Thus, people who are not followers of Jesus Christ will not recognize us as being of this earth, and therefore, they will not consider us as being worthy of their trust. We will be like aliens to them.
Jesus explained how worldly people will not believe what God’s Word, the Bible teaches about this world, and thus they will not accept it as being the truth. They will believe what mankind teaches, and except as truth, but they will not, and cannot accept the Bible as the Word of God. Jesus once said, If you believed Moses, you would believe me, for he wrote about me. But since you do not believe what he wrote, how are you going to believe what I say? (John 5:46-47). Jesus was expressing His view of those who would not or could not understand His message about this world, and that they needed to follow Him in order to be saved from the second death and hell.
Some people want to believe that God should accept every worldly religion, if the people following it are genuine in how they follow the rules of the religion they may choose. However, the God of the Bible is the only real God, and God had a plan of salvation that He planned, and only by following that can a member of mankind be saved.
Jesus explained this to us, His followers with explicit instructions. Just as Moses lifted up the snake in the desert, so the Son of Man must be lifted up, that everyone who believes in him may have eternal life. "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because he has not believed in the name of God’s one and only Son. (John 3:14-18). As I understand it, no one can be saved in this cursed world, unless they accept salvation earned by Jesus Christ through His perfect sacrifice, and then by His resurrection from the dead. No other member of mankind has been raised from the dead and is seated at the right hand of God in heaven.
If we believe any worldly religion can save the immortal soul of its follower, we will not have any reason to tell them about Jesus Christ, so their soul can be saved and spend eternity with Jesus in heaven. Which is what Jesus commissioned His followers to do! Then Jesus came to them and said, "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age." (Matthew 28:18-20). This is a difficult teaching, as it demonizes all worldly religions. Please believe it, only Jesus Christ can and is willing to save your immortal soul! What a friend we have in Jesus!
