It May Seem Impossible For A Person Born Into Sin To Be Given Salvation As A “Free” Gift, You Can Believe It, Because “Nothing Is Impossible With God."
Luke 2:11 (NIV)
Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is Christ the Lord.
So Joseph also went up from the town of Nazareth in Galilee to Judea, to Bethlehem the town of David, because he belonged to the house and line of David. He went there to register with Mary, who was pledged to be married to him and was expecting a child. While they were there, the time came for the baby to be born, and she gave birth to her firstborn, a son. She wrapped him in cloths and placed him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn.
And there were shepherds living out in the fields near by, keeping watch over their flocks at night. An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified. But the angel said to them, "Do not be afraid. I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is Christ the Lord. (Luke 2:4-11).
The account of the birth of a baby born to two relatively poor people, and then there was an announcement of this birth given by angels to a group of people who were not considered as being good people by those in charge or the elite of that time. It would kind of be like giving the announcement in this world today to a group “homeless” people who live in a tent community! Most of the people in this world today have missed this message that a Savior for all of mankind was brought into this world, and it should have brought all people together to become the body of Christ. This did not happen because some human being organized a religion that is not of God but of mankind, and many people now follow that person on a path that leads to hell.
Before the birth of Jesus Mary was conversing with her cousin Elizabeth about the impending birth of her Son into this cursed world. Here she like those of her time, before the birth of the Savior as the Son of Man, all believers were dependent on salvation to come from God. As there was yet no Savior walking this earth. In this conversation Elizabeth said, As soon as the sound of your greeting reached my ears, the baby in my womb leaped for joy. Blessed is she who has believed that what the Lord has said to her will be accomplished!" And Mary said: "My soul glorifies the Lord and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior, for he has been mindful of the humble state of his servant. From now on all generations will call me blessed, for the Mighty One has done great things for me—holy is his name. (Luke 1:44-49).
The birth of Jesus ushered in a new era in the salvation plan, as people would/should now change their emphasis from going directly from seeking their salvation from God the Father to God the Son. Before this time people were to seek salvation from God, but now they must expect salvation to come through Jesus the Christ! There is no other way for people to be saved because the Savior of the world has been born into this cursed world to allow, even guarantee, salvation for everyone who believes and excepts their salvation through belief in the Son of God. Paul wrote about this wonderful plan and the gift of salvation. For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. (Romans 6:23).
Salvation is always a gift as no person is born into this world without a sinful nature inherited from the first or original sin committed by Adam and Eve that brought death and suffering into the then perfect world. That is way Jesus was born of a virgin, as then no man was involved in the conception of Jesus, thus He did not inherit a sinful nature from Adam’s lifeline. So, Jesus started out sinless from birth and He remained sinless, therefore, Jesus was the perfect sinless human sacrifice needed to allow His to be the Savior of the world.
Jesus brought the ability to live in this cursed world and yet to be able to experience peace in our heart. Paul wrote about this idea of peace at heart for us. Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. (Philippians 4:6-7).
Jesus taught about this peace of mind He brought into this world. Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid. (John 14:27). Jesus also taught about how He overcame the cursed world, and thus, how we can have a peaceful feeling in this world. "I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world." (John 16:33).
A man born with a sinful nature, wrote about how he could experience this peaceful feeling too. Paul wrote for the church in Rome, and for us about being able to live in this cursed world and yet have a peaceful experience. Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ. (Romans 5:1). Your faith in Jesus Christ allows you to be at peace even in the war-torn world!
Paul also wrote about the need for followers of Jesus to do good works, so that unbelievers may be able to see you doing good in the name of Jesus Christ. Other people cannot see our faith, and therefore we must be justified in their sight by our works. True saving faith inevitably will manifest itself in works of righteousness. For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God--not by works, so that no-one can boast. For we are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do. (Ephesians 2:8-10).
I recently heard emphasis placed on the word impossible, the person said, “In the word impossible masks, a phrase I’m possible! The angel told Mary about the fact that she would give birth to Jesus, and the angel emphasized that “nothing is impossible with God." The angel answered, "The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. So the holy one to be born will be called the Son of God. Even Elizabeth your relative is going to have a child in her old age, and she who was said to be barren is in her sixth month. For nothing is impossible with God." (Luke 1:35-37). Therefore, while it may seem impossible for a person born into sin to be given salvation as a “free” gift, you can believe it, because “nothing is impossible with God."
